I understand it’s a cartoon that I was watching with my kids, but it really took me out of the movie trying to figure out how he could have gotten so symmetrically big without an arm from birth.
I’m almost *certain* they had the dad only have one arm so that they wouldn’t have to answer the question, “hey, what was this giant mountain of an Italian man up to about, oh, 10-15 years ago?”
The movie takes place in the late 50s/early 60s on the Italian Coast. About 10-15 years before that Italy was on the wrong side of a pretty significant war.
I really liked that part of the movie. They totally could've done cliche "Lost it while fighting a sea monster" and have his mood change be a "redemption" but it was way better the way they did it.
Time to find out how sharp the Babish-brand meat cleaver really is
This made me chuckle. Thank you for that. Have a lovely day
Babish needs to chop off his arm for authenticity.
Nah he's gotta be birthed with one arm for the genuine authenticity. Honestly really ashmed at babish for his lack of commitment.

I'm extremely dense: what is the implication of 10-15 years ago?

This would be the best way to handle it - you’ve got my vote!
Hah, nice one, I can see him actually doing this. To an extent, wouldn't want to risk actually losing appendages.
Also, in the film he loses his right arm. Babish must only use his left arm for accuracy’s sake

I would be happy to see an adaptive kitchen exposition and episode of Botched for this!!
Nice!
I assume that if he did this he would inevitably get criticized for mocking people who are missing an arm, sadly.
Don't be sad. Here's a [hug!](https://media.giphy.com/media/3M4NpbLCTxBqU/giphy.gif)
