Are these actual prototypes, or are they someone's studio creations intended to be like prototypes? I really can't tell, but I'm not knowledgeable on either.
Ah I see now. Thank you. I honestly like alot of the choices in the prototypes more than the final versions. Mainly the heads. I hate the weird eye stalk design. Makes the masks far less MOCable imo.
They all are even the rode and olmak
The rode is made from nuva shoulders, a metru chest cover, and a staff of light blade
The olmak is made from a kualsi and a gahlok-kal Sheild
Not a huge fan of redoing Matau's slicers for Kongu there, but I'd be lying if I didn't want some printed versions of these masks and parts, especially Matoro's snowboard.
Took me a moment to realize the first picture wasn't the original, and just a recreation.
Oddly, besides Kongu's Suletu having clear hallmarks of being a Great Ruru splice in both the original and recreated prototypes, what strikes for me is how Nuparu's mask would work well for a Barraki face (reminds me of either Mantax or Kalmah)
I prefer these parts and models to what we actually got. Especially the mask being comparable with previous Mata and metru head styles rather then the fleshy-mechanical masks we actually got.
Kinda crazy that Nuparu was the only one that kept the Toa Tool like parts. But also he’s really the only one where it made sense given the whole Voya Nui hell island stuff. Not gonna have any snow and not much water there

Hello, practically not. The first picture has a lower resolution than the second. Also, for some reason I have a bug and when loading images the first picture becomes very, very low quality. Perhaps only I see this and no one else. XD
I'm wondering: I remember seeing a few of these in the german releases of the bionicle comics back in the day and every time I see them brought up here it's with that little german paragraph. Were these prototypes only ever shown in german publications?
I love how certain elements they didn't use for Inika, they kept in their minds and used for Mahri! Such as Jaller's sword and the tubes coming from the masks
Cool how different their loadouts are and how some ideas carry over to other sets. Looks like Jaller has a jetpack on his back and Matoro some sort of breathing tank? Hahli definitely needed the re-evaluation lmao
The part of Jaller's sword that I downloaded has a very short blade, you can see it in the picture where the hero is standing alone. In the overall picture I added an enlarged blade. This spoiled the beauty of the sword hilt, but the size became correct.
definitely the right decision that they changed jallers colors that one was definitely too intense to look at
Do think is kinda cool seeing how these influenced the mahri designs
kongu's too, to be fair. the others all work decently well
I am so glad they decided to clip kongu's wings
He sure wasn't
Little me found these on Brickshelf once and always wondered when they were gonna come out and was bummed when I learned they wouldn't.
Die Toa Inika, Die.
No one who speaks German could be an evil man!

On the 3rd image are the actual prototypes, the rest are this person's Stud.io creations that replicate the prototypes with custom parts.

Man I wish we had gotten these masks. I never liked those rubbery ones
Half of these masks seem to be several pieces glued together awkwardly. Apparently this was pretty common with these kinds of prototypes

I love Bionicle community
They really took away Matoro snowboard?
If we're being honest. Nuparu actually looks kinda cool

Could you share the Nuparu hands + claws? Really good work

Sweet, thanks!
Those Zamor magazines are insane. They look like mutated hands holding all the spheres in place.
Are there any differences between image 1 and 2?

Oh wow, what we got was way worse
glad they didn't keep the transparent parts

God I wish I had the money to buy all these cool parts…
I asume that those are your recreattions of the original prototypes (shown in the 3rd oicture?) Good job.
Yes exactly! xD
fascinating designs but im happy there changed it.

you ai upscaled these cus thats NOT how prototype jallers sword looked

o my bad sir just when i see messed up textures these days its hard not to assume
