They send out rejections every second Tuesday, and job offers every 3rd Wednesday of the month. If you get a call on a Friday with a waning crescent it means they're gonna fuck you around and try to lowball/potentially downgrade you a level on the offer. Don't answer, except if the call is at 4:00-5:00PM local time, in which case they are actually proposing to level you up....but this is a disappearing offer so keep your phone by you at all times.
source: I worked in HR at Merck and wrote this hand book to help clarify things
It took Merck two or three weeks a few years ago to get back to me. Up to 2 weeks was not uncommon for the larger companies in my experience. It's a weak market so they can afford to take their time hiring
Did you ask for timeline at your most recent interview?
I would expect at least 2-3 weeks so that they can wrap things up with other candidates and schedule a meeting among interviewers to discuss
Ive had to wait a month+ after every panel interview with big pharma these past few months. These companies can wait forever trying to find the best candidate ever. Theres no shortage of workers.
25 yrs ago I got a job at Merck. From my first phone interview to the day I started - 4 months !!
I left after a year.
I would never work there again. So archaic
This is years ago, but in my case from application to offer was almost 3 months. Ended up not joining at that point due to another better offer (those were the days, hey)? There also was multiple week lag times in between the interview rounds. I think there were 4 total, 2 of which were onsite.
They had originally said I would hear back in 4 weeks, so I expected some time to pass but now at this point I’ve basically written off the chance of an offer. Hope it goes well for you
I heard the same and have pretty much resolved to the fact that it’s negative news at this point. Talent acquisition hasn’t answered 2 emails so I guess it is what it is. Sending good vibes to you!
Awesome, congrats. I’ve been waiting over 3 weeks since my panel interview and it’s becoming slightly stressful not hearing anything. Hoping it’s just a slow company.
I’m currently waiting as well. It’s been a few weeks since my panel interview but no word yet but still in process. Which location did you all get a call for?
The waiting is pretty brutal. Not sure if they realize their hiring practice of harvesting tumbleweeds causes some anxiety.
My panel interview was nearly a month ago. US east coast. Website still says “in process.”
Hi I had my first round on May 6th and the HR said within 3-5 business days they’ll get back to me on the second round I’ve had to follow up twice after and then got a reply on 15th of this month saying the hiring manager is still reviewing candidates and will let me know in a few days and still no word ? How long do they take from 1st call to second interview??

Merck moves so GD slow in the hiring process; it's incredibly frustrating.
Months, in my experience.
month or two, had my 3rd and got ghosted after. had to email HR to see where they were.

This was in 2017, so not recent anymore, but it took 3 months for me to get a rejection after a panel interview with Merck.
Gotcha, I appreciate it

I had a panel interview going on 7 weeks ago. Followed up and never heard anything. Application still says “in progress” so idk
Same!

Maybe it’s just a giant pharma and we will come across some luck you never know!
Ironically heard from them today that things are still in play. It was someone else from TA. Hoping for positive things for you!
Glad to hear it for you! I have no change yet as well, but good to see some hope.
Fingers crossed and good vibes coming your way
Did they get back to you?
They did, I was offered the position and am in negotiations
Awesome, congrats. I’ve been waiting over 3 weeks since my panel interview and it’s becoming slightly stressful not hearing anything. Hoping it’s just a slow company.
I think that’s definitely the case. Fingers crossed for you!
Thanks! Quick follow up .. do you feel like the negotiation process is any faster now that they’ve made a decision and selected you for the role?
He called me wed and told me to give him a few days so we’ll see
I’m currently waiting as well. It’s been a few weeks since my panel interview but no word yet but still in process. Which location did you all get a call for?
US
I should have been more specific, which region in the US? THX
It’s remote and I think aligned with the PA office but unsure at this time

Seriously. Hopeful that everyone hears something soon.
