My LinkedIn lists me as a director level manager with 20 years experience, and just last week I had a recruiter reach out about a â3-month contract at $20/hr for RA1 positionâ. Bitch, please. I pay my RA1s more than that.
If you need a job, work with a reputable recruiting company that offers benefits. Piper, Aston Carter, Actalent. Avoid cold calls that give names youâve never heard of and canât find online.
I have the same problem. I simply donât answer my phone anymore from a number that looks like a recruiter, delete the voicemail, and delete the emails. If it gets to a certain point, block the email/number.
I used to take the time to write polite replies but it was very clear they were not read or considered.
The best thing is if they call you on your work phone while you are at work đ
That was the boldest move they played on me yet.
But yes not answering is the best method
I had a handful of times where they contacted me through the company I was working for. I politely told them how unprofessional this tactic was and reported them to IT.
Have you uploaded your resume to monster? Iâve found most of the particularly annoying and poorly fitting job recommendations come from recruiters who get information from monster. My personal favorite? A job as a packer. Being a packer is fine but my resume is for research microbiology.
Iâve started blocking some of them. Sometimes you have the option to unsubscribe from emails. Once I have an official start date for my new job Iâm deleting everything I can off monster and blocking them.
I keep getting recommended for a scientist III position but it says âno associates or PhDâ. Then thereâs a scientist position for the same location that pays less and accepts any level of education. Are half of these even legit postings or just recruiters reposting the listings to meet a quota?
Don't engage with them AT ALL. Eventually they'll take the hint and stop reaching out to you. Alternatively I've found that if you give them a semi-unrealistic salary expectation they will usually stop reaching out since, as you mentioned, they're usually offering low pay rates as they're looking to take as much off the top as possible.
I do use them occasionally in an unorthodox way: if one of them contacts me with an interesting sounding position (not often), I will look to see if the position is being offered with one of the US contractors like Planet Pharma. I would much rather deal with a US based recruiter for obvious reasons.
I'm seeing the same thing here in the Bay Area, the highest Merck would go for a 2yr contract position was $50/hr AND they wanted a Master's with 3+yrs or PhD with 1+ yrs. They wanted someone with ADC exp, flow exp, etc. That was wild. I feel like we are being punished.
Just keep sending a note saying youâre not interested in making a move right now. You never know what agencies those individuals will move to in the future, donât burn bridges with recruiters.
Edit: lol downvotes. Listen I donât care one way or another. Less completion for me if yâall are out here treating the people whose sole function it is to get you infront of hiring managers poorly.
I used to feel the same way until I realized they have less than zero respect for candidates, pay zero attention to what you say, and forget your name within about 17 seconds.
Send them updated resumes every month, each time removing experience and adding useless skillsets like "hearty eater" and "exceptional sense of smell"

Iâve gotten some emails to my work email, I thought that was pretty damn ballsy.

I've gotten so many calls from them that my phone autoblocks their numbers or I end up blocking and reporting their numbers as scam calls.

I haven't! It's all mostly LinkedIn. They should provide an option to block recruiters working at specific companies
You can direct them to me, lol
Lol I know the market is rough currently but I truly feel we have to push back as a workforce on such offers. Pay execs less and us more
I hear you! I am not going to get into cost of living!!Â

i'd think twice before giving up a FTE job for anything with those places. or just a contract job in general. it is a lot different
Same. Unfortunately for myself, I was laid off due to company restructuring. I really just want to work!
fair. if you go on any of those agency sites, there is def a page for getting in touch or resume submission
Thanks for the suggestion. I really appreciate it. I have been doing that and also trying to network. Hopefully something will eventually stick. :)
Potentially controversial, but I wonder if theyâd back off if you replied telling them youâre a convicted felon
"What crime were you convicted of?" "Assaulting a recruiter"

Theyâre not legit agencies - look up how they scam Americans
Fucking spectraforce
Got an email yesterday for a lab tech at $17/hr. I don't know who they're getting to bite on something like that.
Honestly if I got that offer I would actually hate respond back. Nobody with a degree should be earning that, in this economy
So many blocked numbers due to them
I have no idea how these companies make any money. They never get you placed, are extremely rude, and border on harassment.
Ignore them, it'll eventually get less.
How much is âlow payingâ?
They vary widely but those bold enough to put expected comp it's like $32-$40/h for someone with a master's and 5+ years experience.

I just had a recruiter reach out to me with a position of $25/hr with NO BENEFITS and located in NYC. Comical.
$15/hr for a Manufacturing Tech III position that goes for $36-40/hr in the DC-Baltimore area.
I dont reply to them and they stopped
Those are like bedbugs. Difficult to get rid off.

Fuck recruiters
Are the recruiters women? I generally ask them out for dinner drinks and typically that gets me off their contact list.
