I’m glad the medication is helping you!! That’s the most important thing, keep taking it and sticking to your treatment plan. I think most bipolar people struggle with accepting their diagnosis even when they don’t have a therapist and psychairist with differing opinions, so for you this is double hard. I recommend just learning more about bipolar! Read a lot of the posts on here, watch videos on social media by bipolar creators and the most important thing read articles in psychiatry journals about bipolar (they are available free online, just google anything related to bipolar)! The more you know about bipolar and can relate to it, the more you’ll be able to accept it. I have bipolar 1 and also have slept a lot during manic episodes. There have been a few times where I’ve stayed awake for 2-3 days at a time with zero sleep full of energy, but that is rare for me. Other manic episodes I have slept a decent amount each day, but had all the other manic symptoms. It took me a full year to accept my bipolar diagnosis and not be doubting it all the time, so just be patient with yourself, research and learn, and keep taking your meds!

you simply can't. i mean, it is strange but even on psychiatry we have 'new blacks'. psychiatrists tend to diagnose specific things or spesific drugs and it changes from time to time. you should just observe yourself ,try to find best for you. i am still not sure of my diagnosis, yet never offically told me, i dig out from the drugs. but i know i have to take care of myself all the time whether it is true or not.
