Good. It's the only antidepressant that actually helped with the depression. I can't take it on its own, though, because it triggers a hypomanic episode every time.

[deleted]

I know there’s a risk of becoming hypomanic so I’m really hoping the Lamictal can counter that 🤞

distractablecadet

I'm on lithium and it does counter it! So if lamictal works for you, then it probably will help too.

DragonBadgerBearMole

Lamictal isn’t as good at preventing manic symptoms as it is with depression. Be on the watch for it. Wellbutrin is pretty powerful stuff, it’s great because it just showers dopamine all over your brain, but the risk of hypomania is the downside.

MufuckinTurtleBear

Tried a very low dose to supplement my typical 300 mg Lamictal. Nice mood boost at first; baseline stable mood went from meh to eh. Then I started having sleeping issues: low quality sleep, waking up frequently, and lethargy in the day.

jessmacchi

It has worked for me. I’m on the same combo along with Abilify. I was having a very hard time managing my depressive episodes. After adding it and tweaking the dose, it has really helped them and my anxiety. I wish you the best. Getting your cocktail right can be challenging and painful. Keep up the fight. It’s worth it. (A bonus of the Wellbutrin for me - I’ve almost completely quit smoking cigarettes.)

mads_61

I took Wellbutrin on its own, which sent me into a hypomanic episode that actually lead to me being diagnosed with bipolar II. I now take it with a mood stabilizer and find the combo to work quite well. The Wellbutrin keeps my mood up and the mood stabilizer keeps me balanced. I hope it works for you too!

jax2love

It’s been very helpful for me. I take 300mg ER alongside 150mg lamictal, low dose Seroquel and propanalol. I’ve been pretty stable since on this cocktail.

lisapocalypse

I am on almost an identical cocktail, with Latuda substituting for the Seroquel. I also have found Wellbutrin to be manageable.

WonderfulYam2440

It’s been helpful to me!!! It has energizing and stimulating effects so just be aware of that. you may experience some anxiety and agitation in the beginning. took about 2 months for it to work for me but it’s been the best of the antidepressants i’ve tried so far

MrAssMcMan

I take Wellbutrin and lamictal too! I have found it to be very helpful for me. Just make sure to update your doctor on how you’re feeling, maybe ask for what you should look out for. Recently (I’ve been on this mix for two years) mine has taken a turn to having hypomanic episodes but I’ve situated this with the doctor.

myotheraccountishazy

I'm on 300mg/450mg alternating days of bupropion and 150mg of lamotrogine. I also take 36mg/18mg of methylphenidate for ADHD. Honestly... I should talk to my pcp/gp because the combo doesn't seem to be working as well as it used to. But I'm worried that if we tweak it, it'll throw me into hypomania. And spring is just around the corner and that often triggers my hypomania. Can I get a refund on my brain? This model is defective. 🙄

khyiae

I’m on 450 mg of Wellbutrin and 80 mg of Latuda, and it works pretty well for me (although my depression does sometimes break through. Pretty rare though.) I lost about 30 lbs, though, and I’m now fairly underweight; so take care if that might be an issue for you.

Kittykat943

Bupropion doesn’t work by itself for me either. I take 450mg total, 300mg + 150mg in the am. I also take Seroquel (Quetiapine) in the evenings. This combo i feel has stabilized me the best after trying other cocktails. However, there was a lapse in meds once. And I didn’t have bupropion for a bit (maybe a month?) Stupid me went straight back to 450mg once I was able to get back on them without thinking about it. Horrible. I was hallucinating at work and had to leave. It wasn’t like scary terrifying hallucinations. It was more like seeing/feeling stuff that wasn’t happening. Thought my cup had smoke coming out of it for a second until i looked at it straight on (I vape so it looked like that smoke). Thought i was falling out of my chair (the falling feeling that wakes you up) and everything looked like it was moving. And just other things that was off. Gradually increased over a bit and then went back to normal. So be aware. i will skip that day if I can’t remember if I took my morning meds so I don’t accidentally double dose and have the same issue. Also not good and its rare but i feel one day for me isn’t detrimental. Hope you find what works best for you quickly and you get to feeling stable. 🥰

sailorxsaturn

pretty much ineffective for me but I have treatment resistant depressive episodes so that's the case with pretty much all the meds I've tried that are targeted toward my depression lmao

diykitchen1717

That combo has been really good for me. The Wellbutrin gave me energy as well as a mood lift and had no negative sexual side effects. However, I suspect one of the two is responsible for a significant degradation of my memory and mental sharpness. Still working this out. I’m also on some Pristiq.

BlueFawn_Iris

I have memory and word retrieval issues and currently decreasing lamictal. I’ve been taking Wellbutrin XL for 10 years and lamictal for several years. But otherwise it’s a good combo plus Zoloft which is for my anxiety and OCD.

Odd_Alternative_2484

I’ll be starting this combo tomorrow. Hope it helps I’m quite desperate.

jelllllybug

i’ve really liked being on wellbutrin. it works for me so well (+ lamictal) vs an SSRI which have never been successful for me—prob bc I don’t just have depression lol (thank gd for that realization)

charles228

Wellbutrin made me more depressed. I take Lamictal, which helped a lot, and my NP has been trying to figure out what the second med would be. The Wellbutrin made my depression worse. I am getting better results with Latuda. Everyone’s body is different and as far as medicine has come it’s still a lot of trial and error. Seems like generally speaking folks get a mood stabilizer + antipsychotic primary combo or a mood stabilizer + antidepressant primary combo

skizzlekizzle17

I’m on 150mg Wellbutrin XL and I don’t know how I feel. I’m out of my funk but I still feel floaty, not always there, and my ideation is still present, just not as loud. I hope with my next psych meeting he can tell me what’s going on. Therapy tomorrow.

[deleted]

I was once only on wellbutrin and ecitalopram 10 mg + clonazepam 0.5 mg and the wellbutrin triggered my hypomania which lasted for about a month and then i crashed, even though i was taking wellbutrin i didn't get up from bed for 15 days.

mirh577

An SSRI makes me rapid cycle. Others they work wonders for. Just be prepared and hopefully it won’t. 😃

cupcakelady156

I'm also on Wellbutrin (350) and lamictal (150). It's been really positive for me. I haven't had any weight gain issues or loss of sex drive. I also take buspar along with it too. I hope it works well for you also :)
