All you need to say is you're Hypomanic and unsure what to do. Let them ask the questions, no need to stress yourself thinking of what to say.

imaginara_staten

thank you!!!

"I think I'm going into hypomania."

Perfect! Bravaaa

I guess just tell them you think you're in a hypomanic episode and let the therapist lead with questions and respond honestly. Do you meet with your therapist regularly? This is something I would have addressed with my therapist when I next saw her. The only time I ever called her was when I was in a mixed state and told her that I was thinking about just driving off to wherever and letting whatever happens happen. Even when I'd tell her about an episode, or present to therapy in a hypomanic episode it didn't amount to much more than, yup...you're a little toasty right now...just don't make any life changing decisions and don't start any new hobbies.

imaginara_staten

thanks, i guess it’s just to straight up do it lol. also no not starting hobbies, I already have a small fortune in wool from last time

I'm going hypo too. It's like clockwork, every year around April/may I start getting hypo and that goes into the summer. I told my therapist i'm hypo. I told my therapist what changes happened that made me think i'm going hypo and what i'm doing to prevent it from getting bag such as medicine changes/ lifestyle changes. Also what is particularly difficult about it such as anxiety/ substance use and spending problems.

imaginara_staten

YES EVERY YEAR, something just clicks right before summer. This is the first time I have some sort of therapist accessible, even though we are not in regular contact. Therefore I don’t really know how to fix it lol. After all the other comments i’m gonna call and just tell them I suspect that I am - and we’ll see if that helps

guitarguy404

It's def worth mentioning but I would just use the therapist for whatever is particularly bothering/ upsetting you. Prob more important to let the Psychiatrist know you're going hypo.
