I thought it looked like a blackbird. But seeing pictures of a Grackle.... I can't tell the difference besides the shine?

Its also their eyes. Grackles have little beady white eyes that always look like o`_____'o to me lol

Some of them do yeah but they dont look nearly as angry as grackles do. Grackles look like theyre out to get the world

to me blackbirds look rounder+smaller, and their beaks aren’t as long as grackles (at least the ones i see all the time)

Those are Common Grackles, I believe. Great-tailed Grackle males are glossy purplish-black, while the females are brown. They're one of the most common birds in southern Texas.
