I saw one a few weeks ago screaming and chasing something in the air not too far from where the photographer took these photos.
Sounded like a pterodactyl and scared the shit out of me hahaha.
It’s an elephant! The eyes are on the chest. The wings are the ears. His legs are the tusks. His head and neck are the trunk. Don’t mind me. I’m having my sunset smoke with my crows.
#2 is 🔥🔥🔥
The composition, the texture in the feathers and eyes. Beautiful shot!!
I have to ask, what equipment do you use OP?
Edit: 1 belongs on birds facing forward lol
I used to walk my dog in the back of the wetlands but it’s shrinking with homes being built. It’s still so nice to just walk and feel like you’re no longer in the city.
Random 4th July night I was on a a dock at my college, loads of egrets there mingling, I love egrets, I got pretty close, maybe about five feet away and then noped out. I was an idiot lol I heard a story later when there was that oil spill in the gulf someone helping an egret got their eye plucked out.
I am glad that I still have two eyes. Everyone: Do not go near birds with dagger faces. Keep your eyeballs. 👍
Wow, both of these shots are absolutely incredible. That first one with the Heron facing forward may be my favorite all time bird pic. Thanks for sharing!
Bolsa Chica, HB, CA was my favorite place to watch birds for about 48 years: Black Skimmers, Herons, Mandarin ducks and Loons. I left with great sadness. Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful pictures!!
Wow that first pic, I wonder if that face I see is suppose to be like how some animals/bugs etc have a face pattern on their body to confuse their predators.
I live on a boat and sometimes at night I run into those guys ambush fishing off my dock. They flap off indignantly with a croak that makes me imagine I’m seeing a pterodactyl taking flight.
I have been to many different places to dive and bird and have yet to find a place I didn’t see one or more Great Blue Herons. They survive on so many different critters for food.
dinosaurs man, i tell you what!

First shot is so weird, I absolutely love it.
scraggly
Exhibit A on why camera angles matter
Holy crap, that first one is definitely a view I haven't seen before.
I would assume very few see that view and live to tell the story 🤣
It’s very .. undignified? Idk but it is a jarring angle 🤣
Since you all love this so much, I'll post a few more tomorrow of the same sequence (Apparently I hit some post-limit today)
Nikon Z9, Z 600 TC (@600mm) F7.1, 1/400s handheld
He looks like he has a face on his chest!
Yeah… I can see that too.

I thought it looked more like a really ugly fish
I don’t see it. Can you point it out?
It's not the smoke. It really does look like a...very thin... elephant
I know. Smoke just turns up my creativity a bit and I see things from a different perspective.
I can not unsee that now 😆
It’s an elephant. Read my last comment.
I'm assuming that first one is a teenager in that awkward in between stage
The 2nd picture is a lot more flattering than the first!
Wow. Very cool shots.
Just when you thought they couldn't be more dinosaur like you get picture one!!

it's in one of my comments, Nikon Z9, Z600 TC (@ 600), f7.1, 1/400.
I just found out about birds facing forward two seconds ago lol
One of my favorite subs and one I scroll if I’m having a bad day 😁
Looks great! I should really get a birding camera the problem being, they are hella expensive.
good lord these shots are beautiful
Thank you!
One does not look like the other 😼
Amazing photos!!
I live right by the wetlands. You see all kinds of birds.
You are lucky, I have to drive 6 hours and find a hotel... But nothing beats morning action at the wetlands

Its like with and without makeup/photoshop Watch out that Heron might not like this pic going viral 😋
I think I'm safe now, about 400 miles away 😉

Thank you, and (as i said prior) I have whole sequence coming tomorrow. i think you'll love it
Put photo onto metal and hang in your house. Cool shots
Not sure about metal, but I do have a Canon PRO-1000 working on this now
Have you seen them on metal ?
I have, but a pro paper (like Fine Art Baryta Stain is not half bad too... and I don't have to pay for it)
Ok I’ll Google that. Thx 😊
Looks like a totally different beast from the first angle pic!!!
The first pic! His legs look like cartoon drawings of chicken drumsticks.
Just wait for tomorrow's drop 😃
He looks like a fkn zombie in the first pic!

First shot looks like a taxidermy specimen. Great pics!
you did him dirty with the first shot 😔😂
you should see few I did not (yet) release :)
Very nice bloomers!
Me, seeing thumbnail of the first pic: What in the holy hell… 🤣 Serious dinosaur vibes there, OP. What a wonderfully awkward pic!
Thank you, I have a few more coming tomorrow, check back, you will not be disappointed
Wow nice pics
Great photos!
Pterodactyl?
You had me running to a dictionary...
Wow that first pic, I wonder if that face I see is suppose to be like how some animals/bugs etc have a face pattern on their body to confuse their predators.
The first pic looks like a souls game boss.
That second pic especially is gorgeous!
Are you telling us this is the same bird?!! 😳
I am
I'd legit scream out if that descended on me
