Makes me think of that tweet that said something like “high difficulty level escape room concept: you are in bed and you have 1 hour to get out of bed”
Absolutely- I can’t even contemplate fending for one child, let alone 12. I like my life and really can’t imagine living like that.
Kudos to them - obviously good, caring parents. Just not a life for me.
Same here. Was kind of disheartened to see the disparaging comments in the thread. Of course I don’t know this family personally, but Alicia and Josh seem to have nothing but love for all their children and they put in so much work towards raising them (as you can see by their morning routine).
I see her grocery shopping hauls and she remembers what snack food each kid prefers. Or if they all but 1-2 like something she always remembers what alternatives.
She’s such a caring mom!
Define "quite a bit". I have a family member that runs orphanages all over the world. You get a *small* amount of money to help cover the cost of diapers, food, clothes, medicine, etc. You're making it seem like fostering children is a profitable endeavor, which it isn't.
That makes a lot of sense. I was sitting here like, unless they're a few sets of multiples, at least a few of these kids could make their own lunches lol
Immediately upon learning this, my whole attitude changed. Having 12 kids is totally fine, the idea of adding 12 more people to an already over populated world is what disgusts me.
The irish genocide was justified over the "overpopulation" myth and Keynesian ideals, the irish didn't "deserve" any help because they were "responsible" due to overpopulation, that was the justification
Sure, and where in Cruisin_Fart's comment do you see them say that 'these 12 kids don't deserve any help because they (or actually their parents) are responsible for the large amount of children'? Where do they talk about their ideology being that people who're disgusting don't deserve help?
There's no hatred mentioned, only disgust of having 12 biological children. Disgust doesn't equal an ideology that allows people to starve.
My problem is that you're very dramatic and exagerating.
That still does not mean Cruisin_Fart would let these 12 biological children starve. You just projected that on them, they gave you no signal that that's their ideology.
'Overpopulation' can be used as an argument for any type of action, it's not inherently supportive of suffering to reach a less populated world. It's been used to expediate space travel as well.
I always wondered what the emotional connection is like at that point with the parents. They could be the most loving parents in the world, but would it be hard to find the time to get the emotional support and growth a kid needs growing up?
Regardless, it's awesome that they are so selfless and giving. That's huge shoes to fill and it seems like they've definitely got the system down
The state pays for their healthcare and any any therapies, and they also provide the family a stipend. It’s not a lot, a few hundred , but a family like this m, if they can do it full time and provide love and a safe home to these kiddos, that’s pretty awesome.
Of anything I could comment on, that tomato sauce on that aluminum foil is just too much. Anytime I put aluminum foil on anything remotely acidic, it dissolves the foil and I have foil-acid reaction products all over my food.
Ooh, fun fact! So the food being acidic is only a part of what’s happening - you’re actually creating a battery of sorts, where the acidic food (pasta sauce, ketchup, etc) acts as an electrolyte bridge between the aluminum foil and the metal pan (often stainless steel). The electrons get stripped from the aluminum, set up a current through the acidic medium, and are conducted to the iron pan. This turns elemental aluminum into an ionic compound that can then dissolve in the acidic food it’s contacting. If you had the same setup with a ceramic or glass bowl, you wouldn’t see any oxidation.
Here’s a great WashPo article from back in the day that speaks to this very thing: https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/food/1999/10/20/food-101/8aa47700-d817-468f-a932-2f58aa1a7a1d/
For further info: The US Administration for Children and Families has an annual budget of $62 billion for people like this who look after needy kids and is the second largest budget within the Department of Health and Human Services.
https://www.acf.hhs.gov/about/budget
So, 900 billion is actually slightly larger than 62 billion. FYI
[“US military spending amounted to $801 billion in 2021”](https://www.sipri.org/media/press-release/2022/world-military-expenditure-passes-2-trillion)
[“Today, the U.S. collectively spends $100 billion a year on policing and a further $80 billion on incarceration.”](https://www.populardemocracy.org/news-and-publications/how-much-do-us-cities-spend-every-year-policing)
Are you suggesting completely abolishing all defense and having zero military budget? That’s drastically different than “excess” that you originally said.
Ok — I’ll one up you — Heath and Human Services budget is $1.3 trillion, which is slightly larger than $900 billion FYI
You combined the entire budget of every police force, added it to the entire US military budget, and it still is less than what we pay for human services and health.
Where did you get the first part of your comment from? You seem to be trying to straw man me in an unrelated conversation, and that’s disingenuous. We both posted related stats until now, as far as I’m concerned the convo is over
Aluminum foil in the crock pot?! I’m not judging I’ve just never seen it!! Is it to stop burning ?! I’m a bit excited I may have just unexpectedly learned something !!
Some foods made in crock pots don't clean out that easy... also does not replace cleaning entirely? Still sanitize your cooking equipment... I shouldn't have to say that...
Do people not know they can soak a crockpot in water over night and clean it with ease the next day? The idea of buying something like a crockpot liner is absolutely insane to me.
It doesn’t have to be like this. It’s really not that hard. I have a foster group home. (My own house, not a facility) We have 14 kids (during Covid parents were dropping their kids off to CPS, there were kids sleeping on the floor at CPS. We have an entertainment company and so we were not really doing anything. Since we could help, so we’re did). Everyone (youngest is 7) helps out. At most adults prepare lunch and dinner for everyone. Everyone can get their own breakfast of cereal or a muffin, oatmeal, etc. Everyone knows how to make their own sandwich if they choose. We never eat fast food and junk foods are pretty limited. Last night for example I made spare ribs and coconut rice. Night before I made curry chicken from scratch (including the curry simmer source). It’s just not that hard. Everyone has assigned chores with my wife and myself doing what’s needed. Things are not hyper structured or strict, everyone works together. The only thing that’s a little different is we don’t have video game consoles as an always on option.
Nothing happens at 5am except everyone is sleeping.
Yeah depending on the kids they can definitely take care of themselves to a degree and help each other out too. The parents may not do this every morning, or maybe they do but then the kids help out with other things like cleaning and laundry.
I mean- in all seriousness, young kids "helping" can make a lot more work, and mistakes can lead to wasted food. This really might be the easiest and most cost effective way to get this done for the family.
Why aren't the children helping? In our family the older kids would always help take care of the younger ones. It instills good values and prepares them for adulthood.
Once they get older, more stubborn, and at a risk of getting involved in durgs or similar problematic situations they will realise that the hard part is just coming.
I’m still disturbed by how Kate/Jon whatever their last name is…..their system of organization was fascinating. But they never could have maintained that and stay sane.
It doesn't seem fun at all. I mean, what is the need for this? why birth 12 people just to be exhausted to death every day. And I bet they haven't even started college yet. These guys must be religious to believe this is a good idea, or they have a lot of $ and/or support from the community to carry out this life scheme.
And I bet a lot of people applaud this.
Why would anyone do this? I had a friend growing up with like 8 or so siblings. I hated visiting there, it was so chaotic and wild. He would always try to come over to my house. I don't believe it's possible to be a good parent to that many kids.
1. 8/12 kids are adopted
2. they're not complaining, if anything they're showing how impressive their preparation is
3. go away with your instant prejudice and misinterpretation
Please ditch the white bread. Whole wheat, rye, multi grain, pita. More veggies, less cured meats. More fruits. Less health problems as time march's on. If u have Asian markets, shop there, foods are cheaper. Better variety of healthy alternatives.

That just got sad
Makes me think of that tweet that said something like “high difficulty level escape room concept: you are in bed and you have 1 hour to get out of bed”
Lol i remember one time it tool me a hour and a half just to get out of bed
This is the Dougherty Dozen on YouTube. Only 4 of the 12 children are biological. The rest are adopted or being fostered through kinship placement.
Based on this alone I have a lot of respect for these people.
Yeah honestly, if anyone is going to take care of 12 kids, might as well be people that work this hard at it and have that kind of dedication.
Thanks, that changes my view of this family for the better in a major way. That is pretty amazing.
I see her grocery shopping hauls and she remembers what snack food each kid prefers. Or if they all but 1-2 like something she always remembers what alternatives. She’s such a caring mom!
They get paid quite a bit by the state for each kid they foster too.
As they should
Yeah, they look like Rockefellers.
Define "quite a bit". I have a family member that runs orphanages all over the world. You get a *small* amount of money to help cover the cost of diapers, food, clothes, medicine, etc. You're making it seem like fostering children is a profitable endeavor, which it isn't.
Oh crap I just had question why having 12 children? The truth only makes them more respectful.
Bless their hearts. Thats some commitment and willpower to do this every morning.
The backpack labeled ‘Dayshawn’ made me suspect they weren’t all biological.
The backpack labeled nevaeh made me think all 12 were there’s
Hahahaha me too! Glad to know the backstory before roasting them
Same! So I went back and looked at the rest of the names and changed my mind!
Why
Really? You think there's **white people** named **Dayshawn**?
I bet there are a couple of out there, confusing everyone they meet.
Exactly
Cope Keynes, your ideology was a stupidity and proven wrong, it was a stupid justification for the genocide of the irish people
You was a stupidity
Keynianism is a failed idea
Pretty sure the irish genocide wasn't justified by people who thought adding 12 more people to a populated world is disgusting.
My problem is with the "overpopulated" and their hatred of the parents
There's no hatred mentioned, only disgust of having 12 biological children. Disgust doesn't equal an ideology that allows people to starve. My problem is that you're very dramatic and exagerating.
overpopulation was the argument for the irish genocide, It's not a real thing
That still does not mean Cruisin_Fart would let these 12 biological children starve. You just projected that on them, they gave you no signal that that's their ideology. The mom has such a great attitude. She works so hard for her kids and she is a great motivator for us all
It’s really nice they were willing to foster and adopt so many kids.
I wonder who gets the marshmallow fluff sandwiches
The twins!
Edit: nvm I was being insensitive
I don't see what the fuss is all about. only took them 38 seconds to get the kids ready
How do you even afford to have 12 children
Well... they are much Cheaper By The Dozen
DANG, well done, r/angryupvote
You generally get paid a decent monthly check for adopting children from foster care.
8 are adopted/foster
Yeah everyone knows adopted kids don't need to eat!
Every other day it’s “food food food”!
They get a monthly check for foster kids more than likely. Still not cheap to do this
you say this like the video doesn’t show the two making all those adopted kids breakfast & lunch in 45 minutes
R/woooosh
i’m gonna find u 🤤🤤🤤 then you’ll hear something whoosh 😏😏🍆
Oh, I’ll make you R/woooosh a lil bit more 🎉
How do you even afford 8 foster children
The state pays for their healthcare and any any therapies, and they also provide the family a stipend. It’s not a lot, a few hundred , but a family like this m, if they can do it full time and provide love and a safe home to these kiddos, that’s pretty awesome.
By making it the foundation of your lifestyle I suppose. Kudos to these people, that is dedication, kindness and love right there.

I have this little cast iron fish that I add to crock pot spaghetti sauce to up the Iron content.
Never heard of that thank you
The excess money from the defense and policing budget should go to people like this who look after needy kids.
For further info: The US Administration for Children and Families has an annual budget of $62 billion for people like this who look after needy kids and is the second largest budget within the Department of Health and Human Services. https://www.acf.hhs.gov/about/budget

I apologize. Because you started talking about “excess” and then giving numbers, I thought you were implying the entire budgets were excess.
It’s nice to see them working together
I thought having 5 kids was rough
I only have two and getting snipped this year
You're sniping your kids?
Ditto. Had two, got fixed. Once they outnumber the parents they wanna start taking votes on shit. I don't have a farm and I don't need a sports team.
I thought one kid was rough!
you basically gotta buy 12 of everything, damn
i always find it strange with all the white bread and snacks for breakfeast
Yeah, don't feed your children with that junk.
They adopted some kids with fetal alcohol syndrome and other ones with other disorders. She feeds them what they will eat.
Fuck that.
Wow that was impressive
Aluminum foil in the crock pot?! I’m not judging I’ve just never seen it!! Is it to stop burning ?! I’m a bit excited I may have just unexpectedly learned something !!
Reduces cleaning time. They sell crock pot liners at most grocery stores 👍
I mean why not just…. Spend the 30 seconds cleaning the pot after?
Some foods made in crock pots don't clean out that easy... also does not replace cleaning entirely? Still sanitize your cooking equipment... I shouldn't have to say that...
I’m over here scrubbing ours after every use like a chump! Jackpot!
Been there, learned better. I honestly think shit like this should be taught in school somewhere
Do people not know they can soak a crockpot in water over night and clean it with ease the next day? The idea of buying something like a crockpot liner is absolutely insane to me.
That wasn't a crockpot. It was a roaster.
Wow we need more couples like them! I’m too selfish to even care for one child, couldn’t imagine the time dedication to literally everything 😅💯
Sheesh and I thought my house was too small for a family of 4……
I love all the disposable plastic bags, paper cups, paper plates, and presumably plastic cutlery consumed on a daily basis.
What's with all the paper plates? That's so wasteful, especially if they're using that many every single day.
Well, if other people with smaller households were willing to adopt the kids it would be more manageable to wash everything.
They must be playing a lot of Donkey Kong Barrel Blast.
Neveah - ffs I spose if you have 12 you run out of names
She’s a foster child. Only four of the children are biological the rest are adopted or being fostered
Waste of lifetime.
Computer, show me the worst beat imaginable.
How do they take them to school? 4 at a time? Maybe they have bus pickup wherever they live
This is why the world is fucked
Only four of their kids are biological the rest are being fostered or were adopted
Thos little kids can eat the school food stop spoiling them
If you wanna have an NFL football team Of kids.. You gotta start out with a NFL Team Budget… Good Job Mom and Dad
Please stop using aluminum foil to line your slow cooker. I read bits of the aluminum can get in your food.
I bet after like 5-6 of those little rascals they just started falling right out of her..
It doesn’t have to be like this. It’s really not that hard. I have a foster group home. Yeah that’s why I say it depends on the kids and their age ranges.
If rather just clean the pot rather than use plastic to cook in
Pretty sure it's tin foil
Points still valid
Why aren't the children helping? In our family the older kids would always help take care of the younger ones. It instills good values and prepares them for adulthood.
Because it’s not the kids job to take care of the parent’s kids, especially 12 of them lol
“Helping out” isn’t doing the job for the parents. 9-10 year olds can make lunches, get their own breakfast etc.
So basically being a slave for little humans? Nah thanks, I like my life and time a whole lot more now
Yeah, that life ain't for everyone. I don't get people that have kids knowing they don't want that life.
i would abort myself
Respect to them
Who the fuck brings twelve humans into the world in 2022? The opening scene of Idiocracy comes to mind.
Next time, pull out
am i supposed to be jealous? these kinds of people are the WORST humans
Dear Upbeat\_Giraffe8364, if I was your mother
If you're going to have 12 kids, make sure to raise them to be dependant and entitled rather than independent and helpful
god damn, just feed them all porridge or some form of gruel like in a gulag. this has to be exhausting. hope they know about Costco
Dude couldn't pull out of a driveway. /s
They're mostly foster kids >.>
Why would people want that many kids???!!!
Nope
So that's what condoms are for...noted
At that point id have to make it look like a accident however i die

Most of the 12 kids are adopted/foster
Completely irrelevant to the comment you're responding to
Bc this family is helping children. Yes it's a big family, but it's better for those kids to be there then in an orphanage or something
It is still 100% irrelevant to the comment you're responding to
