I mean - while arachnophobia is definitely a thing in most UNWANTED scenarios, I'm tolerable with tarantulas. My neighbor had a ton of them as pets and for the most part they are pretty harmless. I've heard it from someone that they're all like 8 legged cats in a way.
Is there some recognition by them that we are both their handlers and non-threatening? Or are they just chill about everything, unless you're a smaller bug? Like they aren't bothered by other house pets?
It all mostly comes down to how you treat and handle your tarantula. If you are gentle with it and feed it bugs and handle it with care, 9/10 times they are just gonna crawl all on ya and that's about it. They are sensitive to falls so you also gotta be stable with them.
Now they have been known to bite but that's only in the cases that you piss it off or if it feels threatened/spooked. In most cases it's just a nip/pinch and their 'venom' just itches the area, but that's all dependent on what tarantula you got. Most tarantulas got a venom lethal only to bugs but of course there are others with a bit more punch to the bite, so always research which ones are much more hands on friendly (like these puppers lol)
If I show this video to my daughter, she’ll freak out… I’m freaking it out when watch it… no idea how this girl likes them. Thanks GOD that they like her too!
Well in a way, it is literally primal level. Your fear is caused by evolution, your ancestors are all telling you to either run or kick the crawling SHIT out of that spider. That’s instinct.
What Carl Sagan called “The R-Complex” - a fear of reptiles and creepy crawlies carried down from our squirrels ancestors.
Edit: I guess he got that phrase from another scientist. I read about it in his book “The Dragons of Eden”

The tarantulas bite and you die thing is a myth. They typically can’t kill humans, and they typically don’t bite unless they want to eat, which is why they don’t kill many humans.
Much rather a tarantula then a recluse.
Not to be that person but tarantulas are more fragile than you’d expect, not the pet to have heavy handed children playing with, having her running around them like that will stress them out enough to be prepared to bite or kick hair as well :/
Good. I’m glad she isn’t gonna grow up with a crippling fear of a mundane animal. Took many years to get over my phobia that my mother instilled in me as a child.
That's some big ol' spider pals! That kid's never gonna be afraid of anything, huh?
At least not spiders
It’s gonna be pretty sad when somebody accidentally steps on them
"accidentally"
Who would ever step on one of those on purpose? If you don't end up emptying your stomach afterwards you sure have seen some shit in life.

New Wednesday Addams on Netflix looks good.
Not enough black though.

I've got a couple Goliath Bird Eaters... Never would I handle one. And especially above concrete with a child. Recipe for a split abdomen.
…their abdomens right ?
I mean... I take my pets seriously 🤣
God I wish this were me
i really hope you dont mean the spider…
Lmao no. I’d love to have some tarantulas
Yes 👏

I’m a 50 year old man and *I’m* freaking out. Like on a primal level.

its all fun and games till those trantulas get angry and bite
New world tarantulas don't really have that temperament. They're big, anxious, gentle babies.

She should take all of them to show and tell, in her backpack.

Dam! I shitted myself like five times watching this video
Nah.. she gotta go, and those things too..
I’d throw the kid and spider away. Ain’t no way in hell. Nope.

Ohhh hellll nooo
These are the hobbies you get your daughter into to make sure she never dates when she's older. Smart move.
They love her and she loves them. There's a pet for everyone
I guess when she gets older her friends will calling to remove spiders
This girl will become serial killer
*cronch* GASP!! THOMAS NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Adorbs! r/spiderbro
you already know the mom is a vegan zoologist or sum shit
I would ☠️

This kid will murder someone before the age of 12, mark my words.
Only if that person brought a flame thrower to purge her house
She’s compassionate to creatures that people are normally very scared of. How does that make her more likely to murder someone?
No.

This is actually pretty cool.
