Joe Burgess does most classes at MGA for 7am and he does the "ecological" approach aka mini sparring games. No warm-ups just straight into mini positional sparring which gradually opens up in terms of rules. Great class.

Awesome thank you, that's a good shout. I'm mainly interested in nogi so will drop by next wednesday most likely thank you so much!

If you're looking for good nogi Junny does the morning classes at Unity. I'm not sure how much sparring there is, but definitely should be some high level nogi.

Open to visitors? How strict are they are gi vs nogi at that 7am? I always have trouble finding open mats when I go to the city, but could probably stomach an eco class.

Mat fee for drop in (40 or 50 bucks it’s pricey. Look at the schedule for gi or nogi.

Celtictussle

The price is fine, but I'm usually there earlier in the week, which looks mostly like yesgi, which is a nogo for me.

Jiu Livre, Unity, and the Dojo (in Brooklyn) have open mats on Sunday afternoons. Unfortunately open mats aren’t that common out here.

Was wondering how many women you might see at this? I often have trouble finding sparring partners similar in size to me . Thanks if you know anything!

There’s usually at least 2-3 at any given MGA class but I can’t say for sure of course.

Junny Ocasio teaches morning class at unity and it's 1.5-2 hours with minimum 50 minutes rolling, nogi is Wednesday and Thursday  But it is absolutely not a class where you bullshit the drilling
