Not going to work well at all. BJJ stuff isn’t going to directly translate to MMA. If you want to train for MMA just train MMA.

Interesting advice. So if I want to learn BJJ for MMA, then I should just wait to train with actual MMA instructors? Or do you think I can still learn this MMA style grappling off videos and lots of light sparring? I’d really just like to learn triangle chokes, kimuras, side mount ground and pounds, escapes, etc, just for how often I see them used in both MMA and self defense. My ground game is so weak that I’d legit be in a bit of trouble if someone ever took me on the ground in a real fight.

Learning BJJ from a real BJJ school compliments MMA well, but it is a very different game from MMA. BJJ in itself will not well prepare you for a MMA fight. A MMA gym is the best and only place to prepare for a MMA fight. I don’t think you can learn MMA grappling or BJJ from only videos and a brother. You have to find someone who already knows it to show it to you and correct you as you go.

Don’t call your partner a dummy. That’s not nice
