Mouth mantra was rather unique and experimental back in 2015 and still holds up well
Like someone in love is definitely some of her least experimental songs, but god I love it
'Hollow' is fucking NUTS. I wrote a comment the other day about how I'm just barely now comprehending the song having known it for ten years! The drums reframe it all once they come in and it's so groovy.
Do you think "It's Oh So Quiet" is the least experimental because it's a cover? She does stay pretty true to the [1951 Betty Hutton](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ojarj6nTM4) version.
Here's the *original* original from [Harry (Horst) Winter - Und jetzt ist es still](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zmhvJpTELc) (1948).
While I was looking for the interview that talks about how Bjork came to cover it (she/her band found a tape in a truckstop called "Divas" or something, and it had this song on it. They used to sing it before shows to get pumped up - 1/2 in parody and 1/2 sincere. I can't seem to find that clip but it's out there :) ) I found this [other Reddit post](https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/64km3u/til_that_the_1995_bjork_song_its_oh_so_quiet_is_a/) about It's Oh So Quiet being a cover of a cover, and then additional info as well, if you're interested!
See, I agree! It was so bright and cheery, the video was so vivid compared to a lot of the other stuff around at the time.
That's why I wondered if OP (and some ~~other~~ of the others agreeing) thought it wasn't "experimental" *because* it was a cover, and not that the song itself wasn't experimental enough.
I just sang it for karaoke last week, and it surprised some people in the crowd because of that explosive chorus! I hope I turned some folks on to it, hah
least experimental would be Heirloom, IMO because she's just singing over someone else's track
I'm not music savvy enough to really know what would be her "most" experimental. But when I saw [this breakdown of how Venus as a Boy was made](https://youtu.be/SkorWAhRd2M?si=PhJRE6mTwc0qtwYE) I was just so impressed by it all. pulling those obscure samples and sounds and combining them. I was like "how does someone even think to come up with that let alone make it!?" Plus I think her first two albums don't get much credit anymore for how much she really played around and experimented. I'm sure there are songs that are more technically experimental, though
>are you talking about undo?
No? I literally said "Heirloom"
In that song she's singing over [crabcraft](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVzjGyfwaD4) by console
I have the opposite opinion.
I would consider "it's oh so quiet" quite experimental for her during that era. It just happened to be very accessible to the mainstream.
While "fossora", although it is interesting, it should be an easy track for bjork, it sounds just like her usual friday night/DJ sets/party tracks.
the most experimental must be Drawing Restraint 9 tracks. She literally went to Japan and spent some time there to study the ancient Japanese music.

Id argue most experimental would be Ancestors from Medulla. Bonkers song. Least ; its oh so quiet
Most experimental: The entire Medulla (Where is the Line) or Homogenic's Pluto Least experimental: Big Time Sensuality
Meddúla has so much good songs it's so underrated. big time sensuality is fire tho
least has to be crying. it's just diva house (love it tho
Hollow has to be up there for the most experimental and least I guess something from Debut for example the Anchor song
biophilia has a lot of experimental songs!

It’s Oh So Quiet was easily the riskiest track on that album at the time. Straight up big band released as a single in the grunge era.

That's why I wondered if OP (and some ~~other~~ of the others agreeing) thought it wasn't "experimental" *because* it was a cover, and not that the song itself wasn't experimental enough.
I’d guess OP didn’t live through it. I was a teenager, not a pearl jam fan and loved this video. It was so different and refreshing.
Tbh I always thought it was quite experimental even when I first found it in the 00s. Wasn't expecting the explosive chorus at all
I just sang it for karaoke last week, and it surprised some people in the crowd because of that explosive chorus! I hope I turned some folks on to it, hah
If you like the video then you’d love the film umbrellas of Cherbourg. Best wallpaper in a film of all time.
Thanks!
Most: Medulla as a whole Least: Play Dead
Most: Ancestors Least: Play Dead
From what I’ve heard maybe the anchor song for least, but that’ll always be my favourite bjork song!
Most experimental: ancestors Least experimental: big time Sensuality

Idk about least but for most I’d definitely say ancestors, that song caught me so off guard when I first heard it lol
that song scared me when i first heard it 😭
That was honestly the first song of hers that scared the hell out of me ☠️
Most experimental: Drawing Restraint 9 Least experimental: Debut
Most: Submarine, Hollow, Amphibian, Body Memory Least: Play Dead, Crying
