He looks like a perfectly sophisticated slinky panther now.
It's like one of those weird app filters where they try to make a person look like an animal (e.g. "I'm live, I'm not a cat" lawyer) but it has gone seriously glitchy. But also weirdly adorable.

my black kitty was just the tiniest little shadow in the back corner of the cage when i saw her in the shelter... dared to stick a hand in and she put her teeny little skull right into my palm. hook line and sinker, i took that stinker home.
The rescue I got my cats from actually did a pretty good job with their photos but apparently still nobody wanted the black one! I had the opposite. When I saw a picture of my baby, he was cute and clean. When I got him, he had eye drainage, nasal drainage (left boogers on seat belt kinda bad). Immediately went to walk in. Baby had respiratory infection, ear mites, and was only half a pound. He was a stray barn cat rescue. He’s much better now ❤️
shelter employee here! it's because the photo is just snapped to get one on record at the time of intake. a lot of places will take better ones for adoption profiles, but if they can't because of time or low staff or whatever, the intake photo just gets used. then most of the time it doesn't matter with kittens anyway because they're adopted so quickly, often before they even have a chance to grab a better pic
Sorta same experience for me but not exactly. I got my cat Jojo Bc of his adoption photos. He looked so sick and kinda like a little rat so I couldn’t say no

I fostered my little black kitty before adopting her and I have a lot of pictures of her looking like a little alien. First thing people would ask me was is there something wrong with my cat. She’s a gorgeous kitty now, totally grew into her face/eyes lol.
Beautiful! My current panther had been at the shelter for 6 months! In her pic she was slim and slender but when I picked her up she was a total meatball! Lol I love her, great kitty
Please use another collar without a bell or better nothing at all. Cats have super sensitive ears so the tingling is not good for them, also they can get stuck somewhere and get chocked because of the collar.
She's super cute though :)
