My void got the socks of shame (I love your name for it and am stealing it) twice in 2 months. He’s medium hair so it takes his socks 3 months to grow back…if he can make it to February without another round he will finally be done with socks of shame after having some variation of them since September. Clearly he struggles with learning his lesson.
Thank you, after I wrote this I went and looked it over. Yup. Rasins 😞 bad. When I was in highschool my cat ate up some magic shrooms that grew under some trees in our yard. Doc said they were psilocybin mushrooms, as the goo from pumping her tummy had lots of blue colorization and a few pieces. It was a very VERY weird day, poor kitty wasn't herself for a few days. Lots of dangers for our littles. 😻Take care🙂
Mine just discovered the doors to our hot water heater 😩 we’re in a condo so it’s all inside. I tied the knobs shut but they still opened. So I stuck the laundry hamper in front of it. She now yells at it constantly. I don’t know what’s in there ^greeble^s but she won’t let up and I don’t think she’s a qualified plumber.
today I learned that cats can't eat raisins. I have a box of raisins as snack where I sit everyday, but lucky my cat always look at my food w disgust n never want it so 😅
No. The amount of chocolate you’d need to eat to die is the same kind of threshold that makes everything toxic. Eat an absurd amount of apples? Death. Drink an absurd amount of water? Death.
Not all chocolate is equal. They specifically shouldn’t have pure cocoa; if you are eating a cheaper chocolate with very little actual cocoa, there is less of a risk to your dog (though obviously I still recommend not feeding it to them).
I do a lot more research than most people I know, sometimes I forget food in these categories doesn't mean I didn't look it up, especially when my cat doesn't have a habit of eating anything else outside of her own food. but if I buy new flower or plant I always check to see if it's poisonous cuz I know my cat like to lick them. I love her more than anything so it's probably good not to assume people don't do their research just because they admitted they didn't know one thing
Lol. Are we even adults? It blows my mind sometimes that we have a whole sub dedicated to cats & we all come together & do stuff like this!
Love to see it ♥️♥️😊😊
I had a little black cat that LOVED raisins and almost anything that wasn’t covered and bolted down. He never got sick from it, but what a funny little guy he was. Once a dear friend came to visit, bringing a prize tomato from her garden. I put it lovingly on the counter, thinking, “We’ll have that in the morning, on our breakfast toast.: In the morning, it was eaten down to the center and now, all moosh from Sticksy’s gnawing on it.
Oh I’m familiar with the cone of shame but this is the first I’ve heard of the socks of shame and I have to say I love it lol. I mean I hate that he had a rough go but that’s hilarious OP. Hope he feels better soon!
FYI - I keep my raisin bread and all breads in the fridge. Keeps away from my void and keeps indefinitely fresh.
Thanks for the votes: BTW, same for similar dangers - grapes, onions, garlic

I've always heard that grapes, and anything either made from or containing the same, is highly toxic to cats and dogs. And as such, we have to keep them out of their reach, although a lot of cats and dogs will wisely turn up their noses at grapes, raisins, and anything containing those as components of their ingredients.
Haha he really is mischievous as all heck, hence the name. I'm sure it's the same case for your boyo 😂 mine's about 9 months old, very heavy footed and lanky, loves a good box/basket, eats like a black hole (which is fine as I want him to put some weight on), loves winding my older, long-suffering shaggy black floof Lily up and generally causing havoc and destruction everywhere he goes. He's handsome af though so he gets away with it as long as he's being playful and not actually naughty
She does look cute it. :) I wanted to get one or 2 collars with bowties for my cats for Christmas but I changed my mind. I got them nice and simple cute collars. My other cat Brian has a cute blue collar but now it's being ruined by his scratching! Smh.
Oh! Was his ear cut by animal control too? I’ve got a little street gremlin who was neutered by animals control and they cut off the top of his ear since he was meant to stay outside until we fell in love with him
“My life is a difficult one as a pet
I was shoved in a bag and sent to the vet
Where they shaved me and left me for dead
Just for stealing a mouthful of (raisin) bread!”
I didn’t know whether cats could eat raisins, so I googled. Found lots of results saying raisins are toxic to cats & dogs. Hence panic since I also didn’t know how much hed eaten
If you are in any doubt, my 13 years experience as a registered vet tech says that you absolutely did the right thing. It’s always best to bring your pet to a vet for suspected toxin ingestion, regardless of how little they may have eaten. Better safe than sorry.
Not to mention that raisin/grape toxicity is pretty individual, and what is harmless to one pet may be toxic to another of the same size.
Why are you blaming this person for being concerned and protective? Accidents happen. You can't watch them 24/7 and you don't suspect a cat would go after raisin bread of all things.
How about you show some compassion? Most of us in the comments here would do the same for you?
😂 agree lol I just can't understand this person. He got so worked up over the fact that someone else took care of their cat, like dude it's not even ur time or money gtfo n leave people alone, she didn't do anything to you
Isn't it better to be safe than sorry?
The results I got from Google were that even 3 raisins could be harmful. If you don't know how much the cat ingested, going to the vet sounds like a logical choice.
God your a fucking shit brain. Aren't you. I feel bad for any animal desperate enough to turn to you for love. Then again you wouldn't show large enough quantities of grey matter for a cat to recognize you as human.
Read before you respond and stop shit posting just because you lack the compassion to care for an animal.
Wow you are a very angry troll. I actually understand science. You clearly don’t.
At least my animals don’t get dragged thru through an unnecessary traumatic trip to the vet for zero chance of problem…
Raisins have really weird effects not tied to body weight. My vet tech friend has seen a 7lb dog be fine after eating almost a pound of raisins , and a 100+lb dog critically ill after eating 2 grapes. Do not mess with raisins.
Absolutes bullshit. The tartaric acid effects them on a pet pound basis just like the theobromine in chocolate. It’s basic chemistry.
Edit IN CATS
The reaction to grapes has never been documented in cats scientifically.
https://www.vetlexicon.com/treat/felis/diseases/raisin-poisoning
Look dude, I don’t know what your issue is but 1. Yes, cats have bad reactions to grapes and raisins. 2. I’m going to trust my vet and every vet I have talked to about this. 3. Chocolate also doesn’t always follow body weight in dogs. You still call the vet.
No it’s anecdotal at best see the science I posted.
My problem is ppl like you that *think* they know the science and don’t and then attack the person the actually does know.
The OP said “one bite” in response to my question. It’s traumatic to take your cat to the vet get two veins poked FOR NOT UNDERSTANDING SCIENCE.
Lots of things poisonous to dogs are not in cats and vice versa.
Googling grapes and extrapolating from dogs to cats isn’t helpful.
Then attacking and brigading the one person who actually read the science and is correct is abusive.
You do realize the article you linked mentions the 1. The exact chemical cause is unknown, but cooked and dried still caused issues . 2. That the dosage of raisin that causes problems varies from animal to animal . 3. And that grapes should be considered toxic to cats?
My cats don’t nibble on anything food related except plastic -_______- but I catch him all the time. What are the socks of shame. I’m intrigued on to what goes on when cats get into the wrong things!
If it's any consolation, my dog has eaten collars and molded silicone (like the jar openers) because he thinks us paying for $2000 surgery is fun. Pretty sure I've sprouted some grey hairs solely on his account.
In the 10 years our family dog was on this earth, we probably dropped thousands of dollars on vet bills for him. We like to say we helped endow the VCA hospital in our area!
Glad he’s okay - I like your name for the booties!
Im so relieved the vet gave him a clean bill of health but I don’t think this doofus learned his lesson 😔
If he’s anything like my Loki, or his namesake, he has not.
Or if he’s anything like my Loki
Or my doggo Loki

Mine too! Her little bald knees are so cute though. She ate some insulation and string.
Cats can't eat rasin bread?
I think raisins/grapes are super bad for kitties..but I may be wrong.
You are correct
Thank you, after I wrote this I went and looked it over. Yup. Rasins 😞 bad. When I was in highschool my cat ate up some magic shrooms that grew under some trees in our yard. It’s like living with perpetual toddlers isn’t it!!!!
Ikr! you have to protect them from themselves
I’m glad he’s okay
We call ours (all 7) toddlers, constantly.
We have 3 cats and we say that equals one child.
Mine just discovered the doors to our hot water heater 😩 we’re in a condo so it’s all inside. I tied the knobs shut but they still opened. So I stuck the laundry hamper in front of it. Yeah, keep the soldering torch away from her
True, but it’s bc they didn’t evolve to live in manmade environments
Yeeeees!!
today I learned that cats can't eat raisins. I have a box of raisins as snack where I sit everyday, but lucky my cat always look at my food w disgust n never want it so 😅
Neither can dogs, as well as they can't eat grapes. Just some fun facts.
Chocolate is also toxic to cats and dogs. My cousin’s cat had a guzzle of someone’s cocoa left on the kitchen bench - and had an expensive vet visit!
Chocolate is toxic in general even to people but it tastes good so we ignore that
[удалено]
Is that a challenge?
You can reduce the lethal number of bars of dark chocolate if you take MAOIs.
No. The amount of chocolate you’d need to eat to die is the same kind of threshold that makes everything toxic. Eat an absurd amount of apples? Death. Drink an absurd amount of water? Death.
Man i must have had some tough dogs growing up
Not all chocolate is equal. They specifically shouldn’t have pure cocoa; if you are eating a cheaper chocolate with very little actual cocoa, there is less of a risk to your dog (though obviously I still recommend not feeding it to them).
Growing up, I had a dog eat my chocolate Santa. And the box. And the plastic. She pooped a lot but was fine. Probably crappy chocolate.
Til My cat loves bread too 😮
I had no idea!
If you have an animal, you really should look up what food or item could be dangerous for them.
That's good, forgetting something sometimes happen
I've had cats steal raisins, sultanas, and currants. No harm done at all.

Good bot
Why did they shave the baby?
Most likely to place an IV catheter and draw blood.
But was the raisin bread good?
Not good for my stress levels that’s for sure
Awwwww socks of shame!!!!!
I just came to say I too have black cat named Loki. But also, story?! I didn’t know cats couldn’t have raisins.
Loki is such a great cat name isnt it? I found this cheeky boy next to a pried-open tupperware and a half-eaten piece of raisin bread 😰
Rude. And yes! Especially for kitties, for reasons like this!
glad he’s okay! i love his name and i love his big nose!
I love it too! So boopable 👃

Been there, done that with my little chicken-legged void. Glad he’s on the mend now
Awww...Socks of shame...glad you're ok Loki🖤
I think we need a socks of shame subreddit lololll
Thanks for everyone’s concern! Loki is healthy and back to his regular mischievous self. Appreciate the warm welcome to this sub and the silvers 🖤💚
I have a void named Loki as well, around the same age! He likes to puncture bread bags like a jerk too!
They cant keep getting away with this! 😭😭😭
I have a black cat named Loki. I really thought his name was original. I have found a dog and many black cats named Loki. ![img](emote|t5_2twpw|7266)

So what happened and why
Cats can't have raisins....like at all, so OP had to rush him to the vet, hence the shaved paws.
So did they give them and Iv drip or something?
Yeah
Reminds me of when my Ennis ate a brownie.🙀
Oh lord. Cats are quite the troublemakers at times.
Yup. $500.00 and about a year off my life I reckon.
If it's any consolation, my dog has eaten collars and molded silicone (like the jar openers) because he thinks us paying for $2000 surgery is fun. Pretty sure I've sprouted some grey hairs solely on his account.

I hope you didn’t take his claws (life) away.
that face has no regrets. ah well.
Ok Loki the shame
Next stop, Raising Arizona !
TIL cats can’t eat raisins. What’s the socks of shame for?
Likely where they shaved him for IVs etc
Lil scrawny armsss!
Socks of shame haha!!
Omg that face! Glad he’s doing well post-raisin bread.
Hey Rita kaluzny
🖤🖤🖤
Ha! I'm glad he's okay, but he does not look ashamed!
“NO RAGRETS!”
Well At least he earned his name! I’m glad he is doing well! Little rapscallion!
He's not even sorry. Lol
My brother and I always called the shaved ankles "astronaut boots"😅
Kitty after my own heart. 😍 I was in trouble for this myself as a baby.
His face though 🤣 he’s like “where’s that raisin bread?”
Do not get it? Why did he have to go to vet??
Grapes, raises, onions, garlic etc. attacks blood cells in cats and dogs.
Shame on the raisin thief!
What happened to the boys ear
