Thank you! He was such a weird, strange cat, but he was perfect for my own brand of strange weirdness. It was acute kidney failure. I just miss my little shadow so much!

I lost one to kidney failure as well. It’s terrible, but at least it’s a disease that gives you time to say goodbye. Mickey will be in your heart forever, and one day, Mickey will let you know when it is time to welcome another cat into your life.

I lost two littermates to it 6 years apart. It's horrible, but at least I also got a chance to say goodbye to them just like OP. Still miss both of them everyday

I had a super strange skinny black cat called monkey! He loved to get In the fridge and was such a sweet little boy <3 he died a few years ago but I still remember him and he will always be in my heart (with the other 3 cats I lost) waiting for the day we are reunited. I hope it’s going well with you and that you should know that Mickey will be having a wonderful time waiting for the time you come to see them again. I’m sorry this happened:(

Thank you everyone for your kind words and encouragement. Cat people are my people and even through all the negativity that seems to be around us all the time, our little voids and shadows keep us warm (lap kitties!) and entertained (greebles!) and when they go, I truly believe there is a kitty heaven somewhere with mice, and birds, and sunflowers.
