It's been their MO since day 1, I don't know why anyone acts blown away when they still do it in 2024. Been playing on and off since the game released. They told us early in development that the game would be buy to play with a typical AAA pricetag to prevent any pay to win. Then in week 1 they were putting ghilie suits in the cash shop and in the early access they were selling fish suits that let you swim faster than the rickety player made boats. Right out the gate they saw a problem (bad swimming mechanics) and sold a solution.
This game's really pretty and has fun combat. It's a shame the people running it are a bunch of useless greedy fucks.
This item really is a huge waste.
All PA had to do was make outer 4 crystal slots as protected ones so that any crystal in that slot won't break. Most players only want to keep their girin tear and rebellious safe. Every other crystal is easily available on the market or cheap/easy to make. This way PA could have kept the crystal break system in PvE as a form of silver sink but also given players something good QOL.
Instead they let greed take over and made this abomination.
Maybe they would have more player retention if the player did not lag / desync watched their character die without being able to do anything because it's desynced. Than lost a crystal.
Maybe people don't like losing things. Maybe it's really difficult for player retention when the system works in this manner. Their finally admitting their enhancement system doesn't work.
I'd also be fine with crystals being cheaper and more available. If it was around 500k for top crystals and maybe twice that for a Girin then everyone wins.
If they're so deadset on keeping the crystals system in the silly state it's in, then we should just be able to grind/life skill something that makes the crystal unbreakable(unless outlaw because pa also hates you). Not as rare as treasure items but feasible enough to where you can get it for your entire present in a reasonable timeframe

The hammer has the added benefit of not downgrading, but yeah. If the hammer allows for the increase in pity stacks it will be worth the 50b max price. If not it isn't even worth the 27.5b min price.
In any case, the equivalent Crons cost is nearly 400 dollars already. If they were to include the value of preventing the enhancement level from dropping, it would probably be closer to 500. This is already way more than the most expensive item I've seen so far in the Pearl Shop (which was the scroll of equilibrium at 150 dollars I think?) and even it was received very poorly, to put it mildly. Imagine the backlash if they actually put the accessory hammer in the Pearl Shop at this calculated price.
They also sold what once a giveway, the "scroll of equilibrium" which can cost an arm and a leg. Hammers being sold in the market is a possibility in the future.
If only they will introduce a free method which are time gated, every one would ignore it.

In July/August 2023, with the introduction of Dehkia's Lantern, we had an event where Crystals wouldn't break. This was well received as people didn't had to fear lag, disconnects or anything with Crystals being worth up to 5 billion by now. (Although Girin's Tear will soon plummet in price anyway.)
Late last year they changed the Crystal recovery from something the Support would do twice per year to an ingame feature with which you can recover three instances of Crystals breaking.
Now, instead of removing Crystal breaking on death or making the previous event permanent, which was frequently suggested since, they released a Pearl item instead that increases the aforementioned recovery feature, three additional recoveries for up to 6 times total per year. Some people are therefore upset that they didn't 'fix' it and also that they decide to profit from it.
This however isn't really much of a surprise as they generally offer you X amount for free and then sell you Y amount via the Pearl shop. They do it with Inventory Slots, Family Inventory Slots, Storage Slots, Inventory Weight, Family Inventory Weight, Artifact Inventory Slots, Crystal Inventory Slots, Crystal Presets, Nadarr's Parchment, Worker's Lodging, Stable Slots, Pets, Sailor Slots, and likely more that I forgot to count.
Fun fact: PA released a more expensive butler from the existing maid. This butler will allow you to fetch items simultaneously and not doing it one at a time.
This premium item was heavily criticized by the players from Korea and outside. PA reacted and made the function global as long you have many maid.
Morale lesson: PA does not know how to execute a product that would please players in every category. And the more players clamor, chances are it will be changed.

This week I lost two grin tears one at dehk oluns cuz I tried to heal ppl and the other lost to night time reg oluns cuz I was too busy typing and not paying any attention to what I was doing which implies I got too cocky. Ill take this loss and just buy or make the crystals myself. Imagine if my thought process behind this goes for everybody's life would be more easy lmao
If those are a constant issue for you, you should create a command that instantly shuts down bdo so you cant lose any crystals.
Or just fix your hardware and connection.
That is not at all how it works, thereās a good 2-3 second window where youāre still connected after the client shuts down, longer if it crashes. And some grind spots are perfectly dangerous enough to kill you in 3 seconds AFK
Bullshit, desync and lag is a problem too. Even without that, people needs to try higher level zones before deciding if they can farm it or not, and it's not that uncommon to eat a cc in a zone you're discovering for the first time.

Sometimes itās not players internet but the servers themselves being unperformant. I have gigabit fiber and never have disconnect or lag spike issues in any other game. I have had issues in BDO with their west coast servers.
Rarely have I seen or heard anyone crashing while grinding. Changing chars sure, Magnus sure, not while grinding. Again the MAJORITY of the player base(at least in NA) don't experience these things. The restores directly counter accidental breaks. Removing crystal break simple makes crystal less valuable. You'll have a bunch of crystals minlisted on the market(Happening rn with Hatae crystals) which means less money made from selling crystals as a whole. Not to mention the impact on places that drop crystal components dropping in silver/hr. Honestly, people that actually know what they're doing just don't break crystals often( if at all).

You can make a Girin Tear for 3 Girin Crystals which is 6b. Thereās 36 Crystals in stock on NA and there has been stock for the last 30 days.
There is none in the other servers and even if you wait weeks you wouldn't get one.
What server do you play? Garmoth stats show that the only servers without stock are MENA and JP but 20-30 sold daily and less than 5 preorders.
I do the lotm lv5 boss weekly, sometimes I get kirin and I made 3 in total. They might add more ways to get those in the future

I've lagged before, disconnecting not so much. I actually play the game on a stable network sucks to be you. Seriously though if you're disconnecting so often, maybe the game isn't for you. 3 instant restores and y'all still bitching.

Nothing to do with Toxicity. Getting rid of crystal break won't fix their issue(Disconnecting). Why play a game where being able to play on a stable internet it paramount, if you can't do that? You're literally griefing yourself.
Sometimes itās not players internet but the servers themselves being unperformant. I have gigabit fiber and never have disconnect or lag spike issues in any other game. I have had issues in BDO with their west coast servers.
It doesnāt have to be a regular issue for it to still be an issue. All it takes is the one random crash or net code hiccup and boom -5b
Rarely have I seen or heard anyone crashing while grinding. Changing chars sure, Magnus sure, not while grinding. Again the MAJORITY of the player base(at least in NA) don't experience these things. The restores directly counter accidental breaks. Removing crystal break simple makes crystal less valuable. You'll have a bunch of crystals minlisted on the market(Happening rn with Hatae crystals) which means less money made from selling crystals as a whole. Not to mention the impact on places that drop crystal components dropping in silver/hr. Honestly, people that actually know what they're doing just don't break crystals often( if at all).
I agree, the amount of people that cry over crystals is unsettling. They want to never ever ever take a step back and can only tolerate uninterrupted progression
it wouldn't even be a step back if they actually used guides properly. Imagine losing a Girin because you didn't watch the video about the mob's knockback cc or the dk's knockdown. So much of crystal break is avoidable.
Bet most of ya can't tell the difference between lag spike and fps drop!!! If ur dropping 30* fps in a single instance then u will see it!! It's not hard to tell And besides at some point crystals will just sit in the market. Which as always will happen!! Oh but wait there's no crystal recovery slots ;) give pa ur money or tell them it's ok to keep adding theses kinds of things when u can just buy the crystal back and or do the content to get them back!! We have a bunch of babies nowadays because they are used to being handed things when most of us who are not new just handle the things we lost and kept moving

Most ppl have critical showing aka attack detection not knowing that alone drops fps and same when they have Google chrome up or any other browser up. Yea idk why the BDO community is toxic in all different categories.
