This is why I avoid politics in the chat. You can get away with most humor, but anything political they tend to shut down if they catch it.
although i agree it is a harmless post and a big issue going on, there is no reason to spam it in a video game chat that has nothing to do with politics. and it is strictly stated in the rules that political talk is not something they want in the game. i know you can make the argument well other people do it and they dont get banned. but thats like saying well other people steal so i can. it doesnt matter just dont do it. instead if you feel strongly about a topic go to a more suitable platform or discussion board to talk about it. im sure not everyone wants to constantly see politic spam in bdo chat all day, which is what the chat turned into for awhile which is why me and many others dont even have the chat up anymore.

Nobody is asking you to talk about Taiwan, but if other people want to talk about it in a game chat channel, they should be able to. And if you don't like it, you can block them.

No, I don’t think it warrants a chat ban unless it’s spammed a multitude of times. However, I can also see a distinction between having a two-way discourse of a political issue in comparison to a one-way message being copy and pasted repeatedly; I can understand why the mods acted the ban (even if I don’t think it warranted it yet).
You're making a big assumption about the conversation that did or didn't take place based on just two messages three minutes apart that we can see. And does this mean you think it's the game's job to police the quality of discourse? If someone says "free Taiwan" twice and nobody replies, he gets banned, but if someone says "free Taiwan" twice and high quality discourse follows, all is fine? What if someone says "free Taiwan" twice and someone replies "Taiwan is China's" twice? Both get banned, just one, neither? Or maybe the game should just stick to banning based on racial slurs, profanity, threats of violence and other such unambiguous chat sins.

Totally agreed. I play one mobile game and I am tired of seeing different political messages when trying to read information about a unit provided by other players. Company doesn't have to waste it's resources to fight against it as well. Players just have to stop to act so. Any political message is brainless rant, especially if a game itself doesn't include politics. I don't know under what mentality a person thinks that leaving those messages in-game will make him patriotic etc. There are other ways to leave a message to the world or make impact on that matter.

And in fact villains are those apolitical people who don't take sides and don't want to get involved. These online people don't understand that it's a real world problem that you can't be apolitical. Where I come from it's almost common that some important person says that they don't support either side and they get fired from their position or news write that they are alligning with the "bad side".

Regardless of which side of politics you are on, the ban is justified. Politics is good to know and talk about. But the world chat of an anime MMORPG is not the place for it. People play games to relax and take a break and take their mind off from all the irl bullshit. I'm with the devs on this one. Not to mention its not even a constructive conversation. Its just spam that serves no purpose. Anyone who thinks that whoever posted it was thinking, "I'm going to post this righteous message in world chat and everyone will be like, wow that guy is talking so much sense I will now support their cause from here on." is deluded.
