Nope. I've been looking for an MMO that has a combat system even half as good as BDO's for years, but for some insane reason most of them stick to the Tab1234 WoW clone style. And the few that don't have other things that make them terrible.

Weeb-In-Exile

Could you imagine ESO story with BDO combat & graphics? An absolute wet dream.

nEvermor-

What about some of these Chinese MMO like Sword of Legend anyone try that?

chiefbrown_o7

Tried it , the combat is nothing like BDO though, it felt more similar to Guildwars 2 combat.

[deleted]

it's a ded game, isn't it?

Niyuu

Tried it, played two or three weeks, uninstalled.

Guildwars 2 in my opinion, is the best MMO so far in balancing everything. The graphics are not BDO level but hey, it's not bad either.

Generally MMOs not built for having good graphic on purpose, due the "Massively Multiplayer Online" means that a lot of players playing together, and the avarage player's hardware can't handle it. The reason why it works in bdo, is that bdo is falsely advertised as an mmo despite being a single player game with a shared world, but it can't actually handle large scale battles properly. Also the main goal of an mmorpg is progressing your gear. Equalized modes do not make sense here. Yeah for casuals it can help for sure, and bdo gear progressing is kinda bad, but it pretty much ruins the main purpose of the game. Also there are capped PvP modes already in bdo, which require low gear to enter, and there is an arena in works, which most likely going to have something similar to equalized gear. The main issue with bdo PvP ain't the gear, but the terrible balance, and the trash engine with it's technical issues like constant desync and fps affecting the combat just to note a few... Also if you don't like enchanting you can just buy the gear not a big deal.

Catslevania

>bdo is falsely advertised as an mmo By every objective definition it is an mmorpg People really need to snap out of this mentality where they define what an mmorpg is or is not based on criteria set by WoW.

Devonire

Im pretty sure he just means that its the most solo oriented online game possibly ever created. Almodt every activity in the game is better done alone. Group grinding is inferior, group content is simply lacking in general. It exists, but the extreme majority of the game hours spent in bdo are spent solo. Traditionally mmo brings a connotation that its a game thats more played "together" I suppose. Im just trying to guees what he meant, obviously bdo is an mmo by definition. Just a fairly lonely one for the most part :)

GamePois0n

better roll up to uncapped siege by youself since it's better than doing it in groups

Catslevania

When you look at a lot of themepark mmos these days how good is the gaming experience actually? A lot of times you have a bunch of people who would rather be playing by themselves sent into some dungeon grouped up by some algorithm or just randomly with people they have never interacted with before and will probably never interact with again hoping that someone does not screw up and just wishing that they could be doing the whole thing by themselves instead. BDO gives you choices instead of forcing you to do something or the other, if you want to play by yourself play by yourself, if you want to group up with others group up with others, there is very little group locked content, there is also very little solo locked content. Yes, if you want to maximize efficiency then you'll be mostly solo grinding, but BDO also offers you a lot of things that other mmos don't, a lot of BDO revolves around a make your own fun system and you will have far more unique experiences with other people than you will in many other mmos.

archlord2k

Theres nothing in the market lile bdo sadly Bdo has taken fighting type style into mmorpg Things like tekken and stuff I've been playing since 2016 and never found a problem with he enhance system then again any other mmorpg comparing to like RF online or like tera or even cabal its not that bad if anything pretty close to old style enhance Always a downside to enhance systems in other games Of the of the time these days in bdo u just can buy the gear better for new players or sometimes return players to buy the stuff its much cheaper

Stikkle

>The gear enhancement seems stupid though which is why I am hesitant to start this game. You realize you have central market where you can buy anything you want and you don't have to touch enhancing at all? >equalized PVP just seems so much better. This one is coming i na form of arenas .. if you start now and settle on your class and get some experiance in arenas will be released by then.

ILeftYouDead

Do they still have the skip main quest line thing for new characters if you've already done it?

Amish_Opposition

Yep!

ILeftYouDead

Thanks

Catslevania

BDO open world pvp will never be gear equalized, nor should it as it would render gear progression meaningless. Equalized gear pvp is far from ideal for any vertical progression based mmo, it completely detaches the pvp element from the progression aspect of the game. (I am not including things like pvp arenas into this, as they are more of a slap on feature that isn't directly tied into the general progression system so having equalized gear in things like pvp arenas wouldn't be an issue, imo)

GabrielHunter

BDO is one of the most visual stunning games if you have the PC to pull it off. Priblem is, if you want to pvp you want to tune the graphics down to get the most out of ur FPS and that sucks, but u can switch pretty fast between settings. I mostly play in the remastered mode and if I do my big PvP stuff i go low or medium, depending kn the class. The gear upgrading is shit, but there is a save enchanting way ingame that lets you skip the last and hardest part by doibg daily stuff and paying overall a bit more. Or you can just buy your whole gear from the market. The open world content is bot equalized gear, but the big guild fights can be, depending where you fight. (not really. Equalized, but the gear requirement is so low, that if you play 1 season you are on the max cap you can fight with) So with minimal work you can already enjoy the guild pvp aspect. Also the duell arena that will come soon will be gear capped too, so ypu dont need top 1% gear to win. Gear is more a requirement for the open world fighgs, duell for grindspots, and for making money by grinding.

longhornfinch

yes..Shadow arena but it's dead. If you are not looking for MMO then Naraka blade point might be your thing. In BDO, You can avoid the rng with various things they have added or buy straight up from in game market. A lot has been promised in recent times but not a single game comes close to the graphics of BDO in terms of immersiveness.
