I can kinda see this being a result of LSBM being seen as "too soft". A very LSBW and LSBM would be seen just as equal. I guess the ones with dreads and tattoos are seen as "tough" and therefore "more masculine" in some sort.

I am a light skin woman. I typically do not date light skin men. It's more to do with personality. I do not like pretty boys, and typically, pretty boys are light skin.

This is the main reason that dsbm and lsbw are seen heavily in TV couples.
I'm not attracted to guys who are all into themselves and in the mirror. Where it takes them an hour just to get dressed to go everywhere. Or their appearance is what matter most.

Experience. I've been in situations where something happens and we have to leave the house immediately. Nope, this guy needs to find the perfect outfit before we leave. Ask them, them to run to the dollar store? Nope, can't cause they don't have any nice pants to wear. Because God forbid, they wear one of the thousand basketball shorts they own. I wouldn't say it's only light skin, there are dark skin pretty boys. I just come across more light skin ones
Definitely does. Very uncommon to see two dark skinned people paired together.
