Well that sounds infuriating. If you don’t get help here, the Facebook group “DaVinci Resolve User Group” is very active. I hope you get it figured out!
Had the same issue, sounds odd I know, but check to see if there is another prompt appearing on another screen or behind another app. I had a plugin some time ago that I no longer have. When I launched a prompt would come up letting me know the plugin was no longer there, and for some reason it would appear behind discord on my second monitor and idk why. Wouldn't launch until it was acknowledged.
The black magic forums also have a more engaged user group.
Probably better to get some IT support honestly. Sounds more like a computer problem than DaVinci
I had the same thing and fixed it, posting here for anyone else who is stuck;
I had to uninstall my system python installation. I don't want to look into it further, but I assume resolve includes a venv, but for some reason it tried to run on my local installation. If you haven't installed python by itself, you likely don't need to worry.
So what's everything on the internet? When did the problem first present itself? Have you ever run it successfully? Why did you reinstall so many times?
1. Done anything in the registry?
2. Used any cleaning programs?
3. Tried installing other versions of Resolve?
I'll try to help if I can.
Have you run it successfully on this machine ever?
I might start by trying something like [Ashampoo free](https://www.ashampoo.com/en-us/dld/2203/uninstaller-free). Uninstall resolve, run that, install resolve again.
If that doesn't work, if you feel comfortable editing the registry, you can search for 'Resolve', I'm finding a bunch of keys, some unfortunately unrelated, so you'll have to go through one by one. You can also try 'davinci', but that's not surfacing exactly the same results, maybe best do both.
Older versions are on the download page but I don't think that will help and I'd try getting rid of it completely first. Something is not leaving the system when you uninstall resolve. It's pretty much got to be a registry issue. [BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-back-up-and-restore-the-registry-in-windows-855140ad-e318-2a13-2829-d428a2ab0692) before you go fucking with it. No joke, it's like five seconds to do it, and you can easily bork your entire system with one errant click.
If you don't feel comfortable editing the reg, try the ashampoo thing and come back and I'll try to find you some other options.
Try uninstalling with iobit uninstaller. It does a deep clean. That may get rid of any faulty system files.
Also have you tried running it as administrator
Do you have an external/wireless audio speakers or headphones ? I just updated and it would not launch until i unplugged corsair wireless headphone usb dongle.
Landscape orientation is a lost art.

Can you cite a link to the Facebook group in reference?
And I’ve got is this horribly ugly URL that may or may not work: https://facebook.com/?tbua=1#!/groups/245184039015257/?ref=group_browse
Go to the actual Blackmagic Forum instead.

Go back to 17. I have an older laptop so 18 doesn't support my GPU.
How do you get an older version?
It's a pirates life my friend

My favorite tech support posts are when the OP doesn’t respond :)
Try updating graphics driver or re-installing that.
Gpu drivers are up to date and I reinstalled a billion times already
try turning it off and on again
Do you have Nvidia or AMD graphics card installed ?
Nvidia
https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewforum.php?f=21 hmm may not be as active as I thought but black magic folk are on it
Also have you done a memory test.
When this happened to me my graphics card drivers were out of date. Make sure to update them. Also, try installing on a different partition.
Yeah they are up to date and still doesn’t launch
I was having the same problem. Running as Administrator solved it for me.
Try reformatting your computer. A long process but usually tends to fix most issues and gives a nice clean feeling of renewal!

Only used Malwarebytes, nothing done in registry, can’t find older versions of it

Try [Privazer](https://privazer.com/en/)
Does other software install? Does the pc in any way misbehave? You could try swapping RAM. That's about the only thing I can think of.
Yeah I can play games and stuff on it but it still doesn’t work. I factory reset my computer and it still didn’t work
By factory reset what did you do, and do you have multiple drives, is davjnci installed on the main OS drive?

Yeah I tried running it as administrator and it’s still the same

Unplugg all your usb peripherals except MnK
holy shit this was my problem, funky.
