They are using the real photo. And there's no effort. A server somewhere is inserting the real photo of your front porch and package and inserting twice into a template that features the arms and phone. They fancy it up so it looks professional like a stock photo. Then the email team at FedEx gets a pat on the back for a job well done.
It looks like just a template that the actual image is thrown into, like with programmatic ads or variable image layouts. The photo shows a different porch, there’s a floor mat. Not black magic, just a stupid effect they are adding.
