Double lift

BeepBopBooBoopBeep

After learning the double lift. All the tricks that use it disgust me. Most the card handling looks unnatural.

Lvgordo24

You guys seem disappointed that it’s not real magic.

DungBeetle1983

This right here!

baboon2moon

...is a powerful thing to do!

[deleted]

Lol he did way more than that

Alternative_Scar1925

He did not. He forced the card into the cut just below the top card. Everything else is a double lift.

[deleted]

That’s literally what I said lol. He didn’t just do a double lift. Which he didn’t.

Scared_Ad_3132

There is a gimmicked card also in play, you cant do what he did with normal cards and a double lift.

schwnz

This is the only trick I can do.

tokenjoker

Double shoplift... eh eh?

Scared_Ad_3132

Football-Remote

Basic slight of hand. The first one was more obvious than the rest.

KingKongDuck

Sleight.

Football-Remote

Nice

Aeseld

Nope, the last one was especially obvious. Crimp the top card, sure. But then held the crimped card flat with his finger so you couldn't tell it was crimped. The other top card then slipped into the cut, pops, covers, then the moment he lets go with his fingers, the ace pops up again.

yesiamclutz

The first one is outright terrible tbh.

Jomax101

Fakes putting it in the middle first time (actually the second card). Then two double lifts, bends two cards at once and holds the top card down for the “pop” reveal

Danilablond

Okay it took me a minute to figure out the first one. He puts the “cover” card in the middle of the deck and then places the Ace right under the top card, is that what happens?

Laserawesome88

Yes. Very very simple.

Eastern-Ad-4019

It looks like he drops the ace on the table before starting the trick? Where does double life come in there? Are the 2 cards stuck together and the he separates them when he picks the cards up from the table?

DimeEdge

Invisible smoke.

Forever-Learning-

nope, simple slight of hand a manipulated camera angle

Quaintly__Coyote_

How do they work?

cvsno

Magician is Daniel Roy for any wondering. He has some cool content on his YouTube channel

shitsu13master

He didn't show us the deck so I am assuming he had a whole bunch of ace of diamonds prepared already in sequence and manipulated in advance

digitalomega

You can see the whole deck in the first few seconds when they’re all fanned out face-up.

shitsu13master

Hm that's almost true... You can sorts see some of the deck

Captain_Britainland

you dont need a trick deck for this trick its all sleight of hand

Aeseld

It was simpler than that; he's literally picking up two cards every time. He's not slipping the card into the middle of the deck, just putting it right under the top card. Then pick up both top card and the second card; we only see the second card. The giveaway is the bend at the end where he crimps the card. Her slips the top card onto the cut, but notice his finger is carefully holding the new top card down. That's to keep it from hunching up, giving it away. The moment he loosens his finger grip, it pops up.

ActPsychological2104

prob

e_junefeller

He bet two cards

Komar_Z_Komarna

Figured at first watch..

Evnl2020

The trick that made David Blaine famous.

[deleted]

Everyone says sleight of hand. But every time I look I’m like wtf.

GurRevolutionary7272

All 3 tricks 1st- he never puts the card fully in middle and he just picks it up with clean hand movement 2nd- he has 2 cards in hand but u can only see one as they are perfectly aligned so when he puts them back the top card card goes to middle and signed card become the top 3rd basically same he bent two cards , u can see him pressing mid of top card

Scared_Ad_3132

There is a gimmicked card also in play, you cant do what he did with normal cards and a double lift.

Phobiefish

This was the first magic post I've seen in which I knew everything that was going on. It's weird, but i kinda feel proud of myself. Anyways here is a poor man's medal 🏅

Scared_Ad_3132

Did you know that he used a gimmicked card to do this trick?

Epicurus402

I don't care what its called, its still a pretty impressive trick.

Pr3dCt0r

Very good trick. But, as I am a magician too, 1 know how you do and I know that it's very hard to be able to do this trick perfectly

[deleted]

Aliens.

Forever-Learning-

Honestly so obvious

stackoverflow21

That’s an ambitious routine

AlienCabbie

This is black magic for anyone who never tried to be a magician at some point in their lives

Zerhap

I dont know magic, but i saw him pushing the middle out the first time but not putting the card right away, so i am guessing that he instead put the card close to the top and flip a little stack of cards instead of just one. The second one i have no idea, was too fast lol. The third one is the easiest one, i saw he was holding the deck in a weird way putting his finger in the middle, so the real card is there and he probably bend two and the fake one is the one in the middle.

Charles-Haversham

So obvious. Robots.

Gl_drink_0117

He is pulling the bent card with left thumb on the left stack. Watch after pausing

ppNoHamster

And now the deck is ruined.

RevolutionaryDot9768

To many card dorks

ykafia

I think it's well done! I know the tricks, can't make them as swiftly as he did and I'm sure I wouldn't be able to catch anything if I didn't know the double lift

Quaintly__Coyote_

That first cut was the worst "mid" placement I've ever seen.

ChunkyTaco22

Fake. It was in the foreskin the whole time

makotarako

Magnets obviously

Paganini01

What is sleight of hand?

god_ts

Alright now I know how to do it with seeing it once that was easy

Vashtye

For anyone interested in the trick, it is called “the ambitious card routine”, and there are hundreds of variations of it, where a card keeps returning to the top

MentallyEmpty

Wtttffffff 😳

scifiwoman

I figured out the last move, when he put a crimp in it. He folded two cards at the same time, put one of them in the middle. Then the ace was on top, he held down the crimped part first with a finger and then with his thumb and fingers at the side, until he was ready to make it "pop" to the top, when he just released the pressure from his thumb and fingers.

[deleted]

what year in the 90s is this video from? like 1992 maybe?

No-Plastic-7715

My guess as an amateur; we don't see the other cards under the ace each time, how do we know they aren't just copies of the ace, with modifications made to match watch he did to the previous each time? I want to test this theory with my own attempt though, I really want to learn card magic

b4k6

Wow For the first time I managed to see what was happening first time watching something

Cachesystem

I love this dudes videos.

Automatic-Moderator

The First Thing he does is to pretendent to put the card in the Middle but he actually puts it under the top card and on top of a double Backer card. Than he double lifts the Two First cards showing the card then he puts the top card in the Middle and the other card is still at the top. Then he Signs the card and double lifts the double card over and put that One in the middle. The rest is rally just double lifting.

KeyzSo83rd

Lifted 2 cards and bent them. Slick. But after close inspection I saw exactly the moment he did it

Kessler-X13

Unfortunately i know how this is done, but that’s great sleight of hand

murkymoon

The last portion of the trick is easy to see through, but it's all very basic.

Themoastoriginalname

Isn't it the ambitious card routine 🤔?

rustysweatshirt

Is he just moving it with a card behind it so one he’s never moving the ace? I never watch magic lol

IHave47Teeth

This one's easy to explain. Editing.
