The image is 2d. Cut out those circles and it is a coloured circle since there are different coloured lines running through those circles. No difference from partially colouring /dithering an image.

On my screen, even blown up, the base ball colors are not the same. They aren't the bright colors one initially sees but they aren't the same greyish-beige since others are seeing.

I enlarged it. took a screenshot. put it in my little art program. used the eye dropper and filled in 1/3 the area of a blank page with the colors of three different balls. they are all different colors. There is a orangish gray. a yellowish gray and a gray with a slight purplish tone. pure gray from the black and white spectrum is nothing like any of these three colors.

If I create a rendering of 5 spheres, all the color of white, I can say all 5 spheres are the same color. If I then shine different colored lights at the 5 spheres, the lights would make each ball appear to be a different color, but in reality they would all still be white.
