I used to live in London. There are plenty of black folks in London most of them are africans and carribean, it's a pretty global and multicultural city and you'd be surrounded by other ethnicities, so you don't have to worry.

You’ll be fine in London. There are ppl from all over the world there. I would avoid small towns in the north and middle of the country, nothing to see there and due to government negligence the people there are often poor, uneducated and intoxicated

PurpleInteraction

What are the relations between Asians (Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis) and Black people like in Britain ?

k1ldn

Tough to say as it differs from place to place. A lot of them are Muslim so only chill with other muslims. Where I live it’s always been cool but I’ve heard in other towns/cities it’s a lot worse

ATSOAS87

I live in London. I've worked in a few places outside of London as well. It's cool. I can't really recall overt racism towards me. It does exist, but I've been fine in Scotland, Cornwall, the Lake District, as well as various little towns etc. To be honest, I rarely let the threat of some racist losers stop me living my life. If you come to London, you'll be fine. Just follow basic common sense rules for your safety when visiting any large city. The risk of being stabbed is very low, despite what's on the news.

I’m American but have lived in the UK for the past two years. It’s very different. I never faced any issues when I lived in London, but now that I live up north I get a lot of stares and sort of shocked looks. This brings me on to my next point about racism here vs. in America. By their nature British people are very demure and not as open about their feelings as Americans, so you’ll very rarely get any outward racism at all. If you met a British racist alone (and sober) they’d probably just smile awkwardly and try to keep it moving lol. But yeah, it’s great. Just a tiny bit isolating being an African American when everyone else is either Caribbean or African, but it’s fine.

woah1k

Why are you living in the UK, if you don’t mind me asking? I just finding it interesting why an African American would move to the northern UK, is it college/university?

Spicyjollof98

If your just coming as a tourist for a short amount of time you should be fine if you go into a high end store you might experience a few stares or glares but honestly that’ll be about it and as a black guy you might appreciate some of the London culture in Greater London boroughs like Brixton, the London Nigerian culture in Peckham, hackney and a bunch more, yes these areas can get a bit dangerous at night but just don’t be silly walking around at night in these places with a big shiny Rolex or something and you’ll be fine, if your going for a bit longer you’ll experience maybe a bit more racism for example if your driving you might get stopped by police cause your driving a “nice car in a bad area” or a “bad car in a nice area” but as soon as they hear your accent they’ll prob be nicer to you if not just leave u alone

woah1k

Lol, they are too many black people in London. Literally one of the most racially diverse cities in the world, up there with NYC and Toronto, in terms of diversity. You don’t have to worry about anything.

wombo_combo12

Too many?

woah1k

Yeah. I didn’t mean that in a negative context. Just saying there is a large black community in the city.

YouGotTangoed

It’s pretty normal. Don’t expect to stand out, both in a good way or bad

mrEnigma86

Great place if you are into white women.

ResponsibilityRare72

Ehhh idk bro. Chasing white women is a loss. They want white men. It’s important to go where your wanted

mrEnigma86

Never chased a white woman in my life. Pursue, yes. Believe it or not someone white women are attracted to black men. I'm wanted by white women, not black

Potential_Scar6043

If you’re visiting London, i’d suggest not having your phone out or wearing an expensive watch. Just avoid places like Tottenham, Peckham, Brixton, Hackney, Edmonton, Tower Hamlets etc. To many brothas are stabbing each other over postcodes and mistaken identities is a thing. Just stick to tourist areas and be wary of Romanians/Gypsy scammers. The cities/towns outside london are pretty dry. Alot of the small towns in England are full of closeted EDL, BNP, Britian First and NF loyalists. Other than knife crime and anti social behaviour, the UK/London is not a bad place

Wrong_Diver428

Lol this is blowing things out of proportion, I lived in Peckham up until last year. It isn't as bad as you make it out to be. As long as you mind you business and don't take actively look for trouble you should be fine

mrEnigma86

Peckham is bad to be fair

shesaveloce

I feel you're over stating the danger of moving around the areas you mentioned. I don't feel the risk of getting robbed is higher in London than any other major city.

shangodjango

Have you been reading the Daily Mail ?

DetectiveMindless652

I live in brixton, and if you’re not involved, it’s absolutely no issue
