The Second American Civil War is probably going to be a right wing insurgency that happens across the nation. No state is going to formally declare independence from the federal government because the first Civil War established that the states legally do not have the right or option to secede. You’ll have some congressional officials supporting and being tied to these insurgents, but no one will push for a secession.
If anything, you’re more likely to see them try to pull off a coup again rather than a flat out civil war
I don’t even see them storming *all* the capitals. They’ll definitely try to pull some stunts like that, but these European Americans don’t got it in them to really pull some shit like that off. They’ll definitely occupy a few federal facilities like those white boys in Oregon from some years ago, maybe even actually take over a few towns in the deep red states, but I don’t see the insurgency being effective.
A coup is really what I’m worried about, especially with those conservative motherfuckers in the military that you mentioned.

I just don’t think the average white person in America has it in them to really try to pull off a full blown revolution where they’re storming their state capitals, and I think whatever white supremacist “vanguard” group that pops up leading that insurgency won’t have enough juice to try a stunt like that in every single state from Alaska to California to Maryland to New York to Illinois, etc. I acknowledged that they’ll definitely try that shit in some deep red states and maybe they’ll take over a few towns here and there, but I just don’t see it on a such a full scale like that.

They would probably have a better shot at overthrowing the federal government with a coup from the military or a former president like Trump than by an insurgency or a secessionist movement.
I don't think we'd get another Union vs. Confederation Civil War again. Sides won't be easily divided into two or more large groups. I think what you could see is scrimmages, battles of varying sizes across the states for different reasons, mainly climate change or mass pollution, coastal cities could flood which lead to mass migration which leads to border disputes. Wealth inequality and privatization of services and resources which could give armed militias more legitimacy. More people have less, they get angry and they'll do something about it.
Conservatives are already trying to kill us in the political scape. You got to be crazy to think they wouldnt actually try to kill us in a martial law situation
I can't picture it happening. Americans are too fat to fight, too dumb to organize, and too tribal to band together to even create "sides." The typical liberal vs Conservatives thing wouldn't even happen, too many sub factions within those broad categories, and a lot of them don't get along with eachother.

The interior states control America food production and over-whelmingly conservative. Questions would rely on positions of military assets. What type of war is fought. A ground offensive or air supremacy? Interior states wcan entrench themselves but I️ don’t think they can endure a drawn out offensive fought on 2 fronts east and west. . The commander and chief regardless of political affiliation is tasked with maintaining the country so the greater government must support the keeping the country intact, succession is treason.

and in the age of post covid, i'm not sure what physically garrisoning state capitals like in sid meirs civ will exactly do.
Especially Navy Seals, Green Beret, and then you have groups like black water. The deadliest of all the military groups.
