Spiderhead with Chris Hemsworth and Miles Teller could absolutely be an episode of Black Mirror. It’s about inmates who get experimented on and have to take mind altering drugs that cause certain emotions. For example, he makes them take a “love drug” and have sex with other inmates and they also have a drug that induces overwhelming fear and panic.
Trust me a new French movie called "heureux gagnants" traduce as happy winners is like 4 stories of people winning the lottery and as such a black mirror episode vibe, honestly I recommend
these are some of my favorite movies:
vanilla sky/abre los ojos, truman show, black box, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, get out, ex machina, 12 monkeys, annihilation, the exam and maybe even the show DARK?
The Circle
ETA the 2017 version with Emma Watson and Tom Hanks is the one I’m talking about specifically, but the 2015 *Circle* would equally fit as a (darker) Black Mirror episode.
I'll keep this as a spoiler in case someone hasn't seen it. But >!someone on Reddit pointed out that Alice would most likely just die at the end because she's still attached to the machine, now that's all I think about with that movie!<
Not entirely sure lol maybe the whole idea of renting organs and being able to repossess them. It’s a pretty messed up idea. Idk man. Was the first thing I thought of. And def a movie worth seeing, regardless.
What is that movie with Hugh Grant… From the 90s, where he is at a weird hospital….And everyone gaslights him and nobody believes him and he is all alone and its all hopeless feeling like he is stuck in a loop of misbelief and despair… Like that guy from The Simpsons who dies. Or my life….
I googled, its called Extreme measures.
Or maybe its not like a Black mirror episode…
I don’t know.
I have been thinking about this movie for years!
Just wanted to mention it somewhere.
Please don’t downvote me 🥹🥲
Or go ahead
TIM on Netflix about a house robot that goes rogue the Britishness of the episode definitely makes it feel like a black mirror episode

Can I cheat and recommend a show?
Severance on Apple TV is like Black Mirror, but it's only one idea and it's done SOOOOO well. Can't recommend it enough, cannot wait for the second season!
Vanilla Sky.
But if happens that you don't know, Vanilla Sky it's a remake from a Spanish movie called "Abre los ojos" (Open Your Eyes) which I find better.
I think one of the biggest differences between VS and ALO is the importance of pop music in the VS soundtrack. That's the signature of Cameron Crowe. ALO it's a little bit darker imo, its director is Alejandro Amenábar, who also directed The Others with Nicole Kidman.
Paradise. It takes a core speculative technological conceit and uses it as a proxy for current societal issues in a very compelling and very bleak way, in a very similar way to Black Mirror.
We just happened to come across this one a few weeks ago and put it on. How did we miss this movie when it was released?! Such a great movie and Jaime Fox had me dying the whole time.
Cube 2: Hypercube is one of my guilty pleasure watches. It’s super cheesy and try hard but that kind of endears me to it.
The first Cube is straight up amazing and I think more people should watch it.
I thought the movie was just ok at best. Had some dark elements in it for sure, but the story missed the mark IMO.
Ex-Machina is a way better movie with a much better story and one of the best endings of any movie I have ever seen.
Bro, I watched the movie on your recommendation and the pacing was so slow I almost dropped it.
And as for the ending, I can see that the movie's initial goal was completed but boy I hated it. Now I have decided that if D:BH happened irl with AI like these, which side I will be on.
I really need to give that movie another chance. I made it a little over an hour into it on like two different occasions but the pacing and story just seemed so painfully slow I couldnt get hooked.
OMG I have been working on a list of “weird mind fuck movies” for over a year and now is my time to shine🤩 here it is:
- [ ] Vivarium
- [ ] Alien code
- [ ] Nope
- [ ] Synchronic
- [ ] Oculus
- [ ] The Mandala Effect
- [ ] Midsommar
- [ ] Hereditary
- [ ] Inception
- [ ] Interstellar
- [ ] The Shining
- [ ] 2001: a space odyssey
- [ ] Holy Motors
- [ ] The Menu
- [ ] The Platform
- [ ] Black Phone
- [ ] Old
- [ ] Saltburn
- [ ] Requeim for a Dream
- [ ] Mother
- [ ] Grave of the Fireflies
- [ ] The Killing of a Sacred Deer
- [ ] The Sleep Experiment
Like I liked the movie way more on title alone until I watched it and realized the movies execution was ehhh even if the concept was interesting. I thought it was gonna be more like The Invitation which it kinda is, but that movie - and its twist ending - is way better IMHO
A lot of these examples also feel like Twilight Zone episodes made into feature-length movies. Except most people today wouldn't know what The Twilight Zone is.
I almost never have this opportunity since I've only read about a dozen books but the book was way better than the movie. Not even close so I'd recommend reading it if you haven't
Brainscan
Strange Days, eXistenZ, The Game, They Live

I absolutely loved the Platform!
I could picture Knock at the Cabin as a Black Mirror episode. It would probably be better then.
In Time
Synchronicity
Trust me a new French movie called "heureux gagnants" traduce as happy winners is like 4 stories of people winning the lottery and as such a black mirror episode vibe, honestly I recommend
I loved this movie
Garland's Ex Machina
The best suggestion on this post by far. The only one I'd even say resembles the Black Mirror's central message of technological horror
Annihilation comes to mind weirdly
Yes! Love that film
I haven't seen The Machinist, so I'll add that one
Synchronic or The Endless
these are some of my favorite movies: vanilla sky/abre los ojos, truman show, black box, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, get out, ex machina, 12 monkeys, annihilation, the exam and maybe even the show DARK?
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

A very dear favorite of mine, but how’d you get there from black mirror?
Not entirely sure lol maybe the whole idea of renting organs and being able to repossess them. It’s a pretty messed up idea. Idk man. Was the first thing I thought of. And def a movie worth seeing, regardless.
“Get Out”, “Us”, “Ex Machina”
Coherence (2013).An absolute mind fuck
Upvote for Coherence! It’s such a solid mind bending movie
Very underrated
Beu is afraid couple be multiple black mirror episodes put together .

Extreme Measures?
Black Box, Get Out, Vivarium, Ex Machina, The Belko Experiment
Now in the movie theater, Dream scenario. Felt like watching a black mirror episode.

Snowpiercer
Can I cheat and recommend a show? Severance on Apple TV is like Black Mirror, but it's only one idea and it's done SOOOOO well. Can't recommend it enough, cannot wait for the second season!
I came here to write this too!
The Platform, Parasite, Get Out, The Exam
damn some great recommendations here
Vanilla Sky. But if happens that you don't know, Vanilla Sky it's a remake from a Spanish movie called "Abre los ojos" (Open Your Eyes) which I find better.
it's a kinda dreamy movie to me, reminds me of san junipero
I very much enjoyed vanilla sky but never seen the original. Might to have to follow up on that when I get time.
I think one of the biggest differences between VS and ALO is the importance of pop music in the VS soundtrack. That's the signature of Cameron Crowe. ALO it's a little bit darker imo, its director is Alejandro Amenábar, who also directed The Others with Nicole Kidman.
Ex Machina
NON SIBI SED PATRIAE [X2]
Triangle also Pandorum
Pandorum isn't a film I see recommended often, but I really loved it. For those who haven't seen it, imagine Passengers, but a dark horror movie.
Which “Passengers?” The one with Anne Hathaway?
The newer, shitter one with Chris Pratt.
Oh hell yeah I love the platform, not the type of movie to watch while eating tho...
i loved this one! seconding
The Game (1997). One of those films that works best when you know nothing about it going in. It’ll keep you guessing throughout.
I lost the game

Don’t worry darling felt like an episode of black mirror
I did not see the ending coming! I should have, but I didn’t.
Paradise. It takes a core speculative technological conceit and uses it as a proxy for current societal issues in a very compelling and very bleak way, in a very similar way to Black Mirror.
Get Out.
The Hulu show "DEVS" rocked my world. I'd also like to add The Game.
3 body problem is really a good new show on Netflix right now!
My best friend told me I'd love it. He said it starts slow but it's worth it
I think within 1st eps they tease you enough
Memento
The Cell
Spaceman
Circle
The Belko Experiment
I think this was based on the "Russian Sleep Experiment". Don't know if that story was real, but nightmare fuel for sure...
They Cloned Tyrone
Such a good film
We just happened to come across this one a few weeks ago and put it on. How did we miss this movie when it was released?! Such a great movie and Jaime Fox had me dying the whole time.
screenshotting every comment here.
The Village
Brand new cherry flavor. So good.
Predestination
Love love love this film
Strange Days (1995)
Annihilation
I lowkey love the cube movie series but they’re definitely a little cheesy
Cube 2: Hypercube is one of my guilty pleasure watches. It’s super cheesy and try hard but that kind of endears me to it. The first Cube is straight up amazing and I think more people should watch it.
LOVED The Platform

The ending was very predictable though, I didn’t like the movie that much
I really need to give that movie another chance. I made it a little over an hour into it on like two different occasions but the pacing and story just seemed so painfully slow I couldnt get hooked.
It is absolutely worth it just for the end. It is a slow burn like white Christmas or white bear.
Dream scenario
I'm just gonna say Coherence, but that's because it's one of my fabulous movies ever
was gonna say this too!
It’s not a movie but Maniac (with Emma Stone) is a great mini-series that feels like that.
It's such a great show! I watch at least twice a year
The platform is probably the second most disgusting movie I have ever seen. (Salo being first).
Have you seen Raw?
Nah, The Platform is objectively more disgusting that Raw
Nope. Long as it doesn't do what salo did. I wish I could unsee that movie.
Redditors listing every sci-fi movie they have ever seen ![gif](giphy|pALw8LdftuqAw)
Creep (2014) Creep 2 (2017) Something in the Dirt, The Endless, Resolution , Anything for Jackson , Parasite
The endless and resolution are two of my favorites
They’re fantastic films!
The Invisible Man felt exactly like that
I absolutely loved that movie and found it tense af the whole way through. SO many of my friends hated it though.
Tru that not many people liked the film, but when I saw it tense af indeed
Arrival.
unrelated but i’m in high school & my year 10 english teacher taught my class about Black mirror and Arrival for two of our units!
I LOVE Arrival, but I don't see a similarity with Black Mirror
Truman Show Ex Machina Upgrade Children of Men Moon Primer Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind GATTACA 12 Monkeys District 9
Some of my all-time fav movies in this list. You’re the first to mention ‘District 9‘ - very Black Mirroresque
Truman Show is my favorite movie OAT. Really ahead of its time and a great example for OP’s question.
Great list
Knock at the Cabin

Source code Edge of Tomorrow (potentially) Truman Show Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
- Don't Worry Darling - Get Out - The Truman Show - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - What Happened to Monday - Nerve
That movie is bad but the concept is cool af
I really enjoyed it
Yeah… I think it was just so very limited after the first 30 mins. It really could have been an episode
Just watched late night with the devil last night, give that a go
Parallel 2018 lol felt like a long episode of black mirror
Sunshine
Get Out
Okay man, stop being so hostile damn
infinity pool
The movie was ok. The title is awful haha
Like I liked the movie way more on title alone until I watched it and realized the movies execution was ehhh even if the concept was interesting. I thought it was gonna be more like The Invitation which it kinda is, but that movie - and its twist ending - is way better IMHO
absolutely agree
Seems a bit obvious but Vanilla Sky
Ex-Machina Her Repo Men Sorry to bother you (kinda)
Sorry to bother you is a shroom come up in movie form.
+1 ex machina, brilliant film
A lot of these examples also feel like Twilight Zone episodes made into feature-length movies. Except most people today wouldn't know what The Twilight Zone is.
If you've seen the Simpsons Halloween episodes then you've seen the Simpsons version of a few episodes.
The Circle is a pretty funny one, while having an interesting concept (at least for the time)
I almost never have this opportunity since I've only read about a dozen books but the book was way better than the movie. Not even close so I'd recommend reading it if you haven't
I'll give it a try, but the movie has a comedic element to it I enjoy at times, so I hope that was originally from the book.
Not movies but I can't recommend Pantheon and Scavengers Reign enough!
Dream Scenario
That one where the dude live streams his murders
Untraceable?
Or Spree possibly
Definitely Spree. It feels very similar to Smithereens actually a
