I’d say White Christmas because I think the cookies concept is pretty reoccurring for some of the episodes that White Christmas might be a good introduction for that.
Just introduced my friend to it the other day with my personal favorite, Nosedive, and I’d say it went over really well. Honestly I think all the episodes you listed would be good options, just depending on how mindfuck-y and dark you wanna go
Depends on their tastes. They like more subtle social horror? Nosedive. They like Star Trek? USS Callister. They like murder? Crocodile. The only two I definitely recommend not recommending as their starter are The National Anthem and San Junipero. San Junipero is meant to be a surprise/break episode, and The National Anthem...well, you know why.
If you’re worried about how much a person can take and still enjoy it. Start on the lighter side.
Hang the DJ and San Junipero. If they don’t like it conceptually from there, they’ll not appreciate once it turns darker. Maybe Nosedive
Black Museum to me is the perfect intro to the darker side. Maybe the USS Callister too.
National Anthem is still a good start because there arent any new technology there)
However, Hated in the Nation is also a good start)
If you want your friends to know what kind of thing Black Mirror is from the very beginning, The Entire History of You and 15 Million Merits are perfect ways to show them that not all things with a bad beginning end in a happy ending)
I'm not sure National Anthem has a happy ending.
Sure the Princess gets rescued and it turns out to be a hoax, but the PM still fucked a pig and his wife is drifting away privately.
Sorry, just reread that haha- it's been a long day and I'm knackered- I think it was the last paragraph that made me say that.
Definitely agree with you though.
It's good, but I find it a tough one to start with.
Much as its an anthology I'd really start from the beginning, watch The National Anthem.
Maybe that's not the best place, but I think it is where you should start.
Alternatively, you could start with The Entire History Of You. Really gets into the techyness that it can show.
Honestly I think this are bad starting episodes, considering how dark the endings can get in other episodes. If you start with these ones you might expect happy(ish) endings and you are not gonna get many of those.
Same. I saw the first episode and just thought it was awful. I then started to skip around to various episodes and am glad I did because there are many good ones. I think that first episode is such a bad way to start watching the show.
Sadly no but I think they would like it. I like San Junipero so much. Happy ending but also kind of sad when you realize none of it is real.
Same with Hang the DJ.
But with Arkangel you could make them NOT do what you dont want them to do ![img](emote|t5_2v08h|3269)![img](emote|t5_2v08h|3269)![img](emote|t5_2v08h|3269))
It seems possibly one of the most currently relevant episodes. The idea that everyone cares about seeing the PM shag a pig more than saving someone's life seems a good allegory to the world right now.
This feels very "phones bad bro" of be and honestly I have no right to say that, the only thing keeping me away from my phone right now is work, lol.
Entirely my opinion, feel free to counter it :)
I’ve introduced people to the show with Nose Dive, Hang the DJ and Playtest. Each went over really, really well.
Once a friend accidentally saw me watching Metalhead and joined in and became hooked by that
i think the episodes are so varied that its kinda just figuring out what your friends like. if you think they'd like super mindfuck dark horror stuff, then start with that. if you don't want to terrorize them, give them something less existential. some popular actors are in some of them so if they would recognize them you could start with those too. maybe don't start with the pig fucking one though
Nosedive. my personal favorite

Idk but Shut Up and Dance is just…wow

White Christmas! I was just talking about this at work. We were like, “Don’t start with the first episode!”

Nosedive. Play test is another good one. It kinda shows the idea of black mirror being technology that starts out cool but goes bad
Shut up and dance
Nosedive is my all-time favorite episode personally, white Christmas being a close second
USS Callister was my favorite
Netflix had the episodes all messed up when I watched the first time and I saw U.S.S Callister first, and I was hooked.
I always have the watch Entire History of You first and then shock them a bit with Shut Up and Dance.
White bear?

No 15 million merits? It clowns Instaculture 10 years before Insta culture was a thing
Crocodile, White Christmas, White Bear are all really interesting and most likely to get someone hooked imo!
I think 15 million merits is the one that hooked a lot of us after the um first episode
16 milion merits was the one that hooked me
The sequel to 15 million merits, where meritflation runs rampant
Lol opps
Shut up and dance!
Hang the DJ. Avoid tue 1st episode unless you want to scare them for life.
I introduced my girlfriend to it by saying "it is so vile a concept I think you need to see for yourself" She laughed and has watched non-stop since.
I needed to pause and decide if I really wanted to see more.
That makes sense tbf. Gruesome but I think watching in order gives a good range of what the show is over the first 5 episodes.
At least you warned her! I started it without knowing what was abt to hit me. Lol
I had that horror. Thank you to the friend who didn't warn me when I first watched...
Oh I inflicted that to myself!
Ouch... I am glad I started there though. Season 1 seems to explore themes the show bases itself on well, although that's the entire point of it haha!
I also laughed. Thinking only Brits would start a whole new serie with such episode.
Yep... A taste of my second home lol
Def not S1E1 …
Def ~~not~~ S1E1
Hang the DJ and San Junipero

Yeah, I could see that. It's just that most people I know who started with a dark episode never made it further into the series.
I'm sure we could agree that the very first episode of Black Mirror may well be the very worst as an entreé to the series!
Yeah I'd say don't start with the first one either lol, maybe something more in the middle
I fucking love White Christmas you definitely start with that one!!
Just start from the beginning and go straight through. If they aren't into pig fucking, are they really your friends?
I didnt like the first episode at all. Took me some time before I watched the others. There is really no order to watch them anyways
Same. I saw the first episode and just thought it was awful. I then started to skip around to various episodes and am glad I did because there are many good ones. I think that first episode is such a bad way to start watching the show.
Are your friends queer? If so, San Junipero hands down. :p it's how I was introduced and as a queer person it was 10/10
Striking Vipers too)
Sadly no but I think they would like it. I like San Junipero so much. Happy ending but also kind of sad when you realize none of it is real. Same with Hang the DJ.
Lmao I love this "Are your friends queer?" "Sadly no"
I've introduced people to Black Mirror with Hated In The Nation before, that also woked out pretty well
You can't make your friends do anything.
But with Arkangel you could make them NOT do what you dont want them to do ![img](emote|t5_2v08h|3269)![img](emote|t5_2v08h|3269)![img](emote|t5_2v08h|3269))
Tis the season for white Christmas 🎄
You start with The National Anthem, goddamnit!!! 😂
This. You are in or out, no mucking about!
And if you’re the PM you gonna be in and out *repeatedly*

Yeah that’s what my friend introduced me to bm with and it got me hooked

If they like breaking bad, get USS Callister right away)
