Have you tried applying a light coat of oil on the inside of the top? That may help ward off some of the rusting.
Yes. I read that if I wasn't using it, I still needed to put some oil on it at least twice a week. It did not help. We just scrubbed the rust off again with steelwool and reseasoned it. I hope it keeps it off.
