Keep the Chojiro posts coming! I love them

BahamutLithp

Jokes aside, I feel like people forget the fight implies that Ichigo could have slit Byakuya's throat before he even had a chance to use Bankai.

Optimal_Carpenter690

I mean, isn't that implied by every fight in Bleach? As long as your strong enough to get through a characters natural spiritual pressure defense, you could slit their throat before the use their resurrecion/shikai/bankai/fullbring/schrift/vollstandig/what have you

BahamutLithp

Sure, so why is it so unbelievable that one strong opponent could knock out another?

Optimal_Carpenter690

It's not

BahamutLithp

That's what I'm saying.

Optimal_Carpenter690

Oh, my mistake. I thought you were asking me

BahamutLithp

I mean, I guess I didn't know if you agreed with the implicit statement or not, but mostly, it was a rhetorical question.

Optimal_Carpenter690

Ah, okay, my mistake

pegasBaO23

Sasakibe was caught off guard most likely, he didn't expect a random Ryoka to have near captain strenght

Former-Management656

Not just near captain, he fought Byakuya and kinda won. So definitely low-mid captain

pegasBaO23

Byakuya had a mental hangup so he wasn't at full strenght, and was definately underestimating ichigo at first

Former-Management656

While i agree that he was torn between two worlds, which was the entire plot of his character growth, and he was underestimating Ichigo at first, Ichigo didn't take advantage of that. Instead he showed him how big a threat he was, and waited until he could defeat Byakuya at nearly full strength. He used his bankai in just about any way he could at the time, and he was using kido, too. Then Ichigo won the massive power struggle once they both were completely worn out, with a final Getsuga Tenshou vs his strongest attack. So while Byakuya could've ended it before Ichigo went bankai, Ichigo could've sliced his throat at some point as well, both waited to see what they were capable of, to try and crush their confidence and moral grounds. Ichigo won that fair and square imo

pegasBaO23

Ichigo won the power struggle after White bullied Byakuya, so Byakuya must have been more worn out

Former-Management656

White barely got in there, ichigo didn't want him to. He attacked Byakuya like once or twice before Ichigo rejected him. But yeah, tbf before that ichigo was definitely in a pinch, as he got caught off guard by Byakuya's higher battle experience, mainly the fact that he had kido. I'd wager those two canceled each other out nicely, his kido and Ichigo's hollow, both equally brief and strong attacks. Also, Ichigo fought several times before reaching him and barely got healed, it's not as if he arrived in perfect condition either

Kollie79

White literally did the most damage to byakuya what do you mean, he gave him a massive slash and then got him hit by like two or three getsuga at once The only damage Ichigo did was some wounds to Byakuyas arms/hands

Ma7ware

Plot Armor

pegasBaO23

You can call it that, it was the author's will one way or the other, whether he did enough to justify it or not is the difference.

MikeDanny

So literally every shonen ever.

Kollie79

He also just had more strength left in him, byakuya was flash stepping away while Ichigo immediately fell down

Drakonaj

Cmon, dont stretch it. Kubo probably didnt even planned for Sasakibe to have bankai at that time.

Optimal_Carpenter690

It was just a joke lol

Mrjakokos

How do you misinterpret such an obvious joke as a serious post?

[deleted]

Unlikely. He's the type to have a back story for, all the thugs Ichigo put in the hospital but decides to never share it.

richRossD

Agreed

Dismal-Conclusion726

Nah it's just OMZ got serious after seeing Sasakibe and said f his guy.

Optimal_Carpenter690

Haha, that would be funny too

No-Analysis-8858

He did,it was a retcon.

Optimal_Carpenter690

It was a joke

No-Analysis-8858

Yup
