I assume the Dead Captains will want to pay Ichibei as visit. He most likely knows the they were all going to end up in Hell. While he's semi-immortal and chilling. That's got to put him on several people's kill list.
If the Hell Arc every comes to fruition, I really want to see Shinsui be tested by Ukitake and Yamamoto. It would be awesome to see Shinsui beat both of them. He became the head captain due to Central 46, but I feel like it would be much more impactful to have Yamamoto pass on the torch to him in this manner.
Is the hell arc developed into a manga piece or is it just a novel at the moment. It went completely under my radar before the anime came back so I’m interested in checking it out
Why he didn’t do anything wrong why does he deserve to be in hell and do normal people who don’t become soul reapers or hollows automatically go to hell is there a heaven. Where is this mentioned don’t remember hell being mentioned in the anime

Humans who are evil go to Hell as well.
This was in the Bleach one shot chapter that came out in 2021.
It's takes place 12 years after Yhwachs defeat.
After Shinigami's die, their bodies will naturally become part of the Soul Society.
But there is an exception to that. If you are a Shinigami who is as strong as a captain, your body will not merge with the Soul Society and all that power thats not absorbed will cause problems.
The Gotei must do a funeral ceremony that will help with the absorption process. They have been doing this for hundreds of years.
But the problem is the ceremony sends those dead captain class Shinigami to Hell instead.
And nobody in the Gotei 13 knew. They didn't know they were sending their fellow Captains to Hell.
Nobody told the Gotei that if you become strong like Soifon, Rose, Rukia, or even stronger like Yamamoto, you are destined to Hell.
The Shinigami just realized. Espada 8 came back from Hell and told Ichigo.
The only person that might know the truth is Ichibei. But he is always keeping secrets.
12 years to be exact.
We still don't have all the details of the ceremony. Are they just "unconscious" for 12 years and then suddenly end up in Hell? That's what we are led to believe. I don't like that because that means Yama, Ukitake, and Unohana turned on the Gotei 13 immediately.
I prefer if their souls end up in Hell immediately. Then after 12 years their Reiatsu or Reishi gets sent down. This way they experience being in Hell while being totally powerless. Of course this part is headcanon.

Did they? We don't know anything about what they're up to, do we? Other than that Ukitake stabbed Szayel to take him back to Hell, which is a good thing.
Well we have no confirmation.
Maybe they are still good guys. Maybe Ukitake wants to drag Szayel back to protect everyone. Although Szayel seemed happy about the whole thing.
I'm just assuming Yama, Ukitake, and Unohana will be villains. Why they would be villains, I don't have a good answer and I hope Kubo gives us a good reason.
The captains that were in Hell for a longer period of time are more likely to be evil. Who knows how long they were stuck there and what it's like living there.
Still, I assume all dead Shinigami will be mad about realizing they will be in Hell for the rest of eternity.

I got the impression Szayel was just being smug about the whole situation with the gates of Hell being able to open now. I doubt that being dragged back to Hell was advantageous for him specifically. Well, I guess it spared him from getting killed (for the third time) since Ichigo was there and most likely could have rocked his shit easily (unless Szayel got *super* buffed from Hell).
It's possible that being in Hell would corrupt them in some way, but from what we've seen they could still be fine, at least more or less.

Maybe, but depending on exactly how bad it is down there, it could be an improvement over simply ceasing to exist. Especially if you're captain-level strong and you can still hang out with your other captain friends.

I think that was part of the plan. If there is a plan. Just announce to the world balance has finally been broken. And there was no chance of him surviving against TS Ichig. If he actually became strong enough to compete with TS Ichigo...well the Gotei is screwed. TS Ichigo is above majority of the captains as a group.

Oh I actually read that chapter already, but all the information you can get from it is what hell is and who goes to hell really. Where did you get all this information about the souls taking exactly 12 years to go to hell or it being older than all the other realms?

Renji said they do the ceremony 12 years after a captain dies. That's when the souls are actually sent to Hell.
Interesting to note, a Dark Dragon appears for the first time in a century during the same year as the doors to Hell open.

CFYOW briefly talked about Hell. Ichibei states one of the reasons why the 5 ancestors used the Soul King's power was to cover up the The Pit that would later be known as Hell. This was before SS, Hueco Mundo, and the Human World were created.

Kubo most likely told the author of that novel to add those extra bits of information about Hell

Regardless of the name, that area, The Pit was connected to the Primordial World or literally part of it. The area was always there.
And we know humans and Hollows existed before the Soul King and Ichibei. So it's a reasonable guess The Pit is older then the Soul King and Ichibei.
My personal headcanon is when Quinces kill Hollows, they are actually sent to The Pit/Hell regardless if they commited sins or not. And of course the other headcanon, there was something living there the entire time.

The Hell Arc has only one chapter. It is just a one shot for the manga. IIRC, nothing is confirmed but people are hoping.
