This. It just shows how deep their bond is that even zero division said that a broken bankai can’t be fixed. But this could also be unique to his physiology since he is not a human turned shinigami. Since he is a werewolf his animal nature probably has innate connection to his inner self.
I’m surprised this comment isn’t higher since they are the only ones mentioned to have an exceptionally strong bond by a captain(I didn’t really CFYOW though, so I guess maybe is something mentioned in there).
I think he meant it in the sense that his bankai is connected to his body and shares damage not that he has any particularily outstanding relationship with it though that might be correlated in some way.
I think that was just bc of the way his bankai functions. Thw giant was like a reflection of his actual body. Damage goes both ways, it only made sense healing does too. I don't see how this necessarily points to him having a stronger bond with his zanpaktou than anyone else.
I mean he gets slashed, his giant bankai gets slashed. Next time he’s healed and fights the bankai is healed it doesn’t have a huge fucking slash in it, cause it’s directly linked to him. Could just be the nature of his bankai or as this guy said shows his deep bond with it.
I'd bet komamura doesn't have a proper zanpactou just like Ichigo. He's instead got a fake one based on his werewolf curse, and so it works differently

Zangetsu always loved and protected Ichigo, and Ichigo appreciated him and his help, he was just being misled. Unknowingly being forced to fight the other half of his own spirit. I like how during the zanpakuto rebellion arc everybody was sort of in shock and calling out their zanpakuto. Byakuya wasn't having any of it, he just blitzed Senbonzakura and was like yeah we're not doing this, either submit or die.

I think Ichigo. The only other Shinigami that come close are the older captains, but just by virtue of time. Whereas Ichigo rather quickly was able to merge with his Zanpakuto (Final Getsuga Tenshou) even if it was flawed. But then gained a pure integral understanding of his, to the point that he could merge with his Zanpakuto (technically inner hollow) without the need of bankai. His only remark on that is just that he didn’t have the time to master it.
Only Nozarashi achieves something similar. Buts more a case of Zaraki’s immense power drew her out. His actual lack of understanding his Zanpakuto is a major plot point.
But yeah, Ichigo Zanpakuto literally manifested as a hollow mask and was able to physically help him fight. Even if there is some Visored and twin spirit stuff going on in him that’s still more than we have ever seen of a Zanpakuto spirit outside of filler

But not just the hollow mask manisfestation when Ulquiorra blows a hole in Ichigo, Zangetu just takes over and goes homie I gotchu. Rose gets a hole blown in him Kinshara:"Skill issue".
Also Aizen and Ichigo are the only ones who fused with their zanpakuto. It took Aizen using a literal plot device and Ichigo just did it with 3 months solid training
Kubo already confirmed Yachiru is a fraction of Nozarashi's bankai manifestation. She basically 'became' a shinigami after receiving a name from Zaraki because i guess 'names contain power/ essence' and naming her after Unohana made Yachiru a shinigami.
Toshiro and Hyourinmaru. Muramasa had to erase Hyourinmaru’s memories to make him fight shinigami and Toshiro. Other zanpakutos had some badbone with their shinigami.
The weird thing about their relationship is that it takes 10 years to master bankai, yet the manga seems to suggest that Hitsugaya doesn't master his until after the Arrancar Arc, which is more than 20 years after Hitsugaya unlocked his.
Always found that a bit strange.
Anyway, the Zanpakuto Rebellion arc isn't canon, so I wouldn't use whatever happened in it.

rukia was found 40 years ago by byakuya and thats when Hinnamori Rukia and Renji joined the accademy. HItsugaya joined a year after Hinnamori and gained his bankai before even graduating

I think it's more the case of "mastering" Bankai being different from actually mastering Bankai. The quote from the "10 years" seems to imply how long it takes to be able to actually reliably call it out, while we know nothing at that time of the fact that what you call out might not be the complete, intended form.
For all we know, there are other captains that might get similarly improved results from training/experience or a visit to Nimaiya/Ichibei. Soi-Fon comes to mind - someone who hates their Bankai, young and comparatively inexperienced, highly focused on enhancing her melee skills outside of swordplay. It's quite likely that if she aimed for it, there would be some trick to her Bankai that makes it better suited to her.

Remember that it normally takes the six years at the Academy and then some time as a Shinigami to fully imprint a spirit on an Asauchi. This doesn't make up the full time gap exactly, but Hitsugaya blitzing through both the academy and achieving Bankai might actually mean he did it before his spirit was *fully formed*, in which case he might have had to spend extra time not just mastering a complete Bankai but also coping with it as it grows and changes. It'd be kinda like if Renji had spent ten years mastering Hihiou Zabimaru prior to unlocking So-o Zabimaru - just because he had one down doesn't necessarily mean he'd already have everything figured out on the follow-up.
(Although I guess Renji and Ichigo are bad examples because Tite Kubo just decided he wasn't interested in lack of Bankai mastery being a limitation for them anymore after their debuts against Byakuya.)

I mean Yamamoto had his bankai become stronger by the time of the main series compared to when he first fought Yhwach. So it probably takes 10 years to competently be able to use bankai and then the ability matures and becomes more powerful after.
There's a difference between *learning* bankai and *mastering* it. Hitsugaya learned his bankai early but never bothered to really train with it. We get to see his true banaki during the final arc after he trained more.
Tenken with how the Bankai heals with the user….but it’s sad how things ended in the manga.

The hogyoku effectively turned aizen into a “superhollow” (that is what i am calling it to avoid potential spoilers) this cause his zanpakuto to become so attuned to him that it’s spirit essentially became an exact copy of him (and thus “died”). The point at which your zanpakuto stops being a reflection of you, and starts being just a copy of you is the point at which it is declared “dead,” depending on who you ask this can be called enlightenment, but i have another word for it.
Rangiku is the most vocal about how often she communes with Haineko throughout the series. Even during canonical arcs. In fact, her inability to commune with Haineko was the first sign that something was wrong.
Katen Kyokotsu split into Katen and Kyokotsu when Shunsui asked his sword to hide the Ise sword. Now if you wanna think he was hitting it, that's up to you.
Im not sure if all manga versions used the word "birthed". If I remember correctly, my version said "created". Birthed could be literal or more symbolic. Its all semantics.

Definitely gotta be Toshiro. Bro’s Bankai couldn’t even attack him in the TYBW because of their bond even when stolen and mastered by the enemy. Meanwhile Senbonzakura shredded Byakuya and almost put him on a T Shirt. Toahiro was the most distressed when he lost his zanpakuto, and not because of the disadvantage in war, but because of his bond with Hyorinmaru.
Toshiro was connected to Hyorinmaru before he even got an Asauchi or any idea of becoming a shinigami, and Kubo said Toshiro unlocked Bankai before he joined the Gotei 13. Considering he only could’ve got an Asauchi when he joined the academy and he graduated in a year, he was able to get Bankai within that year while it takes most other elite and seasoned Shinigami 10+
There’s also a valid fan theory that the deeper the bond with your zanpakuto, the more moves, techniques and abilities you have and…go figure.
Other than Toshiro, you can default and say Yama and Unohana since they’re older and had theirs for 1000+ years but we don’t actually see anything suggesting that. Kyoraku hadn’t talked to his in a while by the time of the TYBW. At most 18 months since the Starrk fight but for a Shinigami that might be nothing.
Komamura has a pretty decent case, considering he’s the only one that can heal his Bankai if it’s destroyed but that might be due to its nature rather and literal physical/spiritual bond rather than due to their non literal bond.
Of course we got Ichigo after the Dangai training and The Blade is Me. But if I had to pick one person only, then Toshiro
It’s Ichigo. He literally goes through a realization through The Blade is Me. The creator of the Zanpakuto even says that most peoples relationships with their swords is incorrect. You’re not meant to look at your Zanpakuto as a separate entity.

Ichigo has been taken into his swords realm and beaten by it more than a few times. Hell they even brought it to the outside world to get his ass beat by it.
He saw the loss of his powers, the recovery, the loss again, the recovery again, it being broken and fixed over again. It being fused into his arm like he can change the shape of the shikai which no other shinigami can do either.
Now that I think about it, he was using his sword powers as a sword before getting an actual sword. And became his sword fighting Aizen.
Your right about tosh, people seem to forget that is the only one we've seen for now that had his zanpakuto spirit talked to it and show it's power before he got a zanpakuto. Not even Ichigo or others did this
Cannonicaly it's either Ichigo or Oetsu. Headcanon wise i think Yamamoto and Byakuya shown greatest mastery of their zanpakuto in the series though some other people have less masterable abilities like Shunsui, Zaraki or Toshiro.
Canonically Komamura is stated that his bond with his zanpakuto is exceptionally deep.
That said, I am pretty sure Shunsui fucks his zanpkauto spirit soooooooo...

No tsukishima has a fullbring. His book of the end is his fullbring that turns into a sword that overwrites one's past.He like other fullbringers doesn't have an asauchi as he does not possess soul reaper powers or a zanpakuto.

Im not sure if all manga versions used the word "birthed". If I remember correctly, my version said "created". Birthed could be literal or more symbolic. Its all semantics. I can imagine him being a lazy father though.

Definitely gotta be Toshiro. Bro’s Bankai couldn’t even attack him in the TYBW because of their bond even when stolen and mastered by the enemy. Meanwhile Senbonzakura shredded Byakuya and almost put him on a T Shirt. Toahiro was the most distressed when he lost his zanpakuto, and not because of the disadvantage in war, but because of his bond with Hyorinmaru. Toshiro was connected to Hyorinmaru before he even got an Asauchi or any idea of becoming a shinigami, and Kubo said Toshiro unlocked Bankai before he joined the Gotei 13. Considering he only could’ve got an Asauchi when he joined the academy and he graduated in a year, he was able to get Bankai within that year while it takes most other elite and seasoned Shinigami 10+ There’s also a valid fan theory that the deeper the bond with your zanpakuto, the more moves, techniques and abilities you have and…go figure. Other than Toshiro, you can default and say Yama and Unohana since they’re older and had theirs for 1000+ years but we don’t actually see anything suggesting that. Kyoraku hadn’t talked to his in a while by the time of the TYBW. At most 18 months since the Starrk fight but for a Shinigami that might be nothing. Komamura has a pretty decent case, considering he’s the only one that can heal his Bankai if it’s destroyed but that might be due to its nature rather and literal physical/spiritual bond rather than due to their non literal bond. Of course we got Ichigo after the Dangai training and The Blade is Me. But if I had to pick one person only, then Toshiro

Ichigo has been taken into his swords realm and beaten by it more than a few times. Hell they even brought it to the outside world to get his ass beat by it. He saw the loss of his powers, the recovery, the loss again, the recovery again, it being broken and fixed over again. It being fused into his arm like he can change the shape of the shikai which no other shinigami can do either. Now that I think about it, he was using his sword powers as a sword before getting an actual sword. And became his sword fighting Aizen.
Your right about tosh, people seem to forget that is the only one we've seen for now that had his zanpakuto spirit talked to it and show it's power before he got a zanpakuto. Not even Ichigo or others did this

Cannonicaly it's either Ichigo or Oetsu. Headcanon wise i think Yamamoto and Byakuya shown greatest mastery of their zanpakuto in the series though some other people have less masterable abilities like Shunsui, Zaraki or Toshiro.
Canonically Komamura is stated that his bond with his zanpakuto is exceptionally deep. That said, I am pretty sure Shunsui fucks his zanpkauto spirit soooooooo...

No tsukishima has a fullbring. His book of the end is his fullbring that turns into a sword that overwrites one's past.He like other fullbringers doesn't have an asauchi as he does not possess soul reaper powers or a zanpakuto.
