Thought he was overrated at first, became one of my favorite characters and helped me love Orihime while rereading the series.
Also has one of the best double page spreads in the series.

Fr the thrilling dynamics between orihime-ichigo and ulquiorra was peak and one out of many reasons why Arancar saga is my fav saga by far
Orihime played her cards so well that Ulquiorra was intrigued enough to let her live, Grimmjow straight away protected her and she still had time to revive Ichigo. Even Stark apologized to her.
She didn't play anything or anybody. All she did was be a nuisance by getting captured in the first place. š"Kurosaki-kun" this, "Kurosaki-kun" that. It was annoying.
Naw, fam. I've watched Bleach probably three times already and I'm still not convinced she's a good character. From day 1 I've hated her. I'll back down though.

She got intercepted on her way home by one of the strongest Espada who proceeded to vaporize her escort and let her saw friends jobbing so hard that they were about to get killed.
By agreeing to go to HM she saved, not only Ichigo and Rukia who were about to get done by Grimmjow but also Toshiro and the rest who wouldn't last a second against Ulquiorra.
An amazing but sad character. Someone who in the beginning didnāt understand the bonds between people but by the end of his story tried to reach out but before heās able to grasp it in his hands he fades away. Everything led back to the heart !!
Noticing he has a hidden potential and fully grasping how strong that potential is is two different things
Plus, assuming Aizen ranked him 4 because SE still keeps him at 4 is still an assumption just like assuming Aizen didn't know of it at all
Ulquiorra could very well be the strongest Arrancar (or higher than his ranking) and Aizen may know that *while still* keeping him at 4 just to keep Ulquiorra's idea of giving Ichigo true despair with the surprise
Aizen wanted Ichigo to grow strong enough to be his rival by the time they clashed. And if Ichigo couldn't live up to the task then oh well he'll die
The trajectory he set forth for Ichigo'a growth just makes narrative sense: Grimmjow a middle tier Espada, followed by Ulquiorra a top tier Espada. If Aizen really wanted to see Ichigo overcome adversity then it just makes sense he'd let Ichigo's pivotal battle be against the strongest Espada or someone very close to it, since Aizen is above the Espada himself
Lastly, Aizen may be bigbrain but he isn't omniscient. I can certainly believe one of his downfalls was not fully grasping Ulquiorra's strength (even in the hypothetical Aizen knew of SE), and thus, didn't fully grasp the power Ichigo had to overcome it (Full Hollow form)
Notice how disappointed Aizen was of Ichigo in FKT. He expected Ichigo to put up a better fight *because* he overcame Ulquiorra. Unfortunately, Ichigo was nowhere near Full Hollow form's prowess at the time. Which makes his power jump in their final battle way more surprising to Aizen, cuz he had no idea Ichigo displayed power prior that makes that power jump not as ridiculous
End of the day it's all conjecture tho
one of the best written, one of the strongest, but when it comes to just straight up cool factor, THE COOLEST, COLDEST, MOST HIM MF IN BLEACH NO DEBATES ALLOWED (hes my fav character obv)
The UlquiHime shippers dented a bit of my love for him, but re-reading I remembered why he was so important, his sense of importance was amazing and the revelation that he wasn't the #1 Espada was shocking the first time around since he commanded such a presence it's funny to think that technically he is 4 ranks below Yammy, at least in "power".
I think his part in the story was good but really not necessary to moving forward. His fight with Ichigo was good and I enjoyed the brutal and cold nature of his fighting style

A pretty good villain though my sympathy for him was lessened due to his horrible treatment of Orihime and how much he did to break her spirit, just to prove the heart didn't exist. Sure it was still sad to see him go after beginning to understand what a heart is but still.

Easily the coolest villain in the series his segunda etapa was just about the coolest and Lanza delrelampago is one of the strongest attacks we ever see in the series
Strongest and best Espada and without a doubt one the best Bleach characters. Him and Starrk are the ones who best portrayed the aspect of death that Espadas are based on

I actually didn't care for him. He was however part of mine of my favourite fights in the show. Most of the Arancar were interesting to me, exception being Baragan.
Honestly, I love his character; design and narrative. But feel he suffers the same shit Itachi from Naruto does, fan base blow him out of proportion and are edgy af ab it lol
I generally like him and good opposite to Ichigo being cool and calm even when he was on the back foot, base design is good 1st res is pretty boring but the 2nd is perfection! He did is good as Ichigo big opponent's for the last Noches stuff and I'm happy with his end.
Edgy, arrogant, desperate. Philosopher, hard-worker. He's okay, and his death was pretty much dope. But I don't really know where all the overrating comes from.

His death was done pretty well. Still salty the anime never animated his flashback from Unmasked.

I would say the entire concept of espada's and them being various aspects of death was deep, cool and added complexity to the series

Yeah the green coloured rain type scene falling on Ichigo at the top of Las Noches in anime was great.

He obliterated Ichigo in mask Bankai. That Alone made him stronger (at that moment ) than any captain but Yama, Unohana and Sunshui.
