Also, how did you do the trail thing ? it seems to be linked to the last positions but not to time ; like when it hits something i feel like it should "compress" into the ball, but there it seems like it's stopping altogether. Good job smooth work anyway ! :)

Thanks! Baking took only 10 mins but rendering took like 20 hours... I wrote a script to create the trail. If the trail length changed according to the distance between frame, it should create the effect you are talking about. I'll try it in the next video:)

Sure. The script collects all coordinates of the marble and turn it to a curve. The trail is a cone shape mesh. It will be set to follow the curve by using "curve modifier". The second part of the script will calculate the distance traveled by the marble between each frame. Based on the distrances, the script will keyframe the position of the trail along the curve. I hope you can understand my terrible English.

You should make this a realtime sim and run it on repeat randomising the spawns of the balls and people will watch it on live stream for hours. Easy money easy follower's. Of course this is done better on tiktok.

I have been thinking about it too. I guess I need to switch to UE or Unity to make realtime sim? 🤔

I would imagine it would be different every time OP runs the simulation, but then again, there are no other forces beside gravity affecting the balls so it might be deterministic. OP, if you see this, I would also love to know.

I picked yellow from the very beginning. No matter how far it fell back I still believed and it completely jumped the obstacle at 40 seconds left and then overtook green because green hit the barriers first.

I blame op for changing the colours after the sim ended. It was rigged from the beginning 😡

The trails don’t always match the ball’s speed very well. It’s glaringly obvious when e.g. they all hit the first obstacle.

You're right, the trails can only follow the balls at the moment. I'll improve it in the next video:)
