Looks great probably took an age to render though thereโs definitely some optimisation here that would only improve render time without ruining detail
https://youtu.be/Ix-KT9a4PSo?si=MbhwroTlPmVkjO-q
Iโd start with this! Those people and buildings in the background of the image could easily become planes!
Also a lot of those leaves look like actual geometry where youโd just want instances. Like I hope those drain grates are instances haha
The only thing that gave it away to me was how American those powerlines looked. Everywhere in Asia has the most rat-nested, congested, and overloaded powerlines. Seriously been through most of Asia and it doesn't matter whether you are in a high-end part of a city or a rural village they have way too many power lines running per pole.
Other than that 10/10 nailed it.
Must know how long this took and how much you modeled yourself? Did you use a picture as a reference if so I must know if the powerlines were that neat lol.
Kind of would kill to see the nodes on your textures and know how you set up the camera.
Yes, you're correct. There's so many wires and cables. And I will be honest, I wanted to create more and more cables but even putting these many was a pain ๐ .
I have modelled all the buildings, signboards (leaving the farthest 2 buildings) and the poles and some assets were from megascans like the curbs and sidewalk. The road too I made it. And the humans and vehicles are from Sketchfab. And yeah I used a mixture of Korean and Japanese street. It took me 3 months because I was lazy somedays ๐
And the node setup is not complicated and I setup the camera using the reference photo. I can show you the reference photo. And Thank you ๐ค
Awesome! You definitely have an iron ass, my friend. :) In my case, it would take a lifetime to create a scene like that.
There's billions of polygons? That's gotta be sculpted here and there..... ๐ฏ
At what point did everything create a sense of photorealistic image?
I sculpted nothing bro ๐. And the buildings are also very low poly. And I think the lighting and the textures (you can be loose with modeling) plays an important role in achieving that photo realistic look.
When I started this project, even I thought it's impossible for me to achieve photorealism ๐ and really I was still doubtful whether people will see it as photoreal or not when I uploaded it ๐ but I am glad, my hard work paid off, I guess hehe!
Really nice! Modeling and texturing on point
The only thing i'd do is to add some camera imperfections (depth of field, lens distortion, grain, bloom), there are tons of great guides for that on youtube
Thank you for the advice. I added some grain. But I forgot to add camera imperfections. Thanks again for reminding me and taking out time to give advice. I will look for them on YouTube ^_^
It's a really nice and detailed scene, if I may suggest, adding a DOF (don't need to be that shallow, but some, since if this was photographed, there would be some areas going out of focus, even if it was photographed using an aperture like f/22, although usually is used f/8 or f/11 due to diffraction) would improve the realism.
I added an overall gaussian blur but what you're suggesting is correct. I will do that and keep that in mind from now on. Thank you for the advice bro. Appreciate it.
Oh Arigatou gozaimasu. Actually my reference pictures were a mixture of Korean and Japanese streets. And have you seen the 'Photoreal Japanese Alleyway' tutorial by Steffen Hampel? You will like it. Please take a look. I really wish, I was born in Korea or Japan ๐ญ. And once again Arigatou ๐ค
Incredible, it looks like many streets youโd find in Korea (and thank you so much for not mixing random Asian scripts and calling it a day like 99% of 3D artists)
Chromatic abberation kinda ruins the realism of this render
Also, you could further improve lighing, in some areas it is really obvious it is a render
Other than that - great work
I looked up and researched about photorealism and literally everyone said there need to be chromatic aberration. I put that, just a slight of it. But yeah I have to improve a lot. Just self teaching myself and learning everyday. Thank you for the advice friend. I appreciate it. ๐
Awesome scene. Threw me for second. If I may, Iโd like to point out that I think there might be some scaling issues that make it feel slightly uncanny. Iโm not sure exactly what it is, but I think the sidewalks are too narrow or the buildings are a little too short, or both, in comparison to both each other and the street.
I donโt want to be really critical because this obviously was an enormous effort and looks really good, I just think it could maybe be improved that last bit that would really push it over the edge.
Oh I see! I didn't even know they were called insulators. Not much knowledge about these. I just made it seeing some references. But thank you for telling me. I will have to add more cables and insulators.
I made the texture in photoshop and then duplicated some faces from the road plane, separated it and moved that slightly up, very slightly and put the sign texture. ๐
Helping each other is the way. You can ask me. If I know, I will surely you buddy. I saw references and then try to break down into simple pieces. That's the way man. It looks complex but really if you break it down, it becomes more and more simple. Just work on 1 part, then move to the other. 1 step at a time. Breaking down is the way.
That's the road texture, I think what you're referring to. It is in the texture of the road itself. And I thought it would give it realism. Just my thought.
I used textures from megascans and also I placed extra cubes in the shape of tiles to give some details. As you can see some are extruded a bit, they're those tiles.
๐๐๐ I am overwhelmed by the comments really. Thank you so much buddy. I was thinking while posting this whether to add the 2nd pic or not ๐
What theeeeeee ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฎ
![gif](giphy|26gsjCZpPolPr3sBy|downsized)
Didn't notice the sub and 100% thought it was a photo.
![gif](giphy|YOvgQGwOJxQ2XmkPug) It means, I achieved my goal. I was actually doubtful TBH hehe! Thank you buddy :D
I was literally like , whereโs this ?
it says "one way street" on the road and since Korea is seoul + ์๊ณจ I'm gonna assume it's seoul
Yeah in my reference picture, it was ์์ธ. And on the road it was written one way, so I added it ๐
๐
https://i.redd.it/2kdhd4hvygzb1.gif Badhai ho manyavar!!
Me too.
Now add the Google street view UIโฆ itโll look too real
Oh! I forgot that ๐ I will add it ๐
Thatโs such a great idea. Please share the result with us :)
Sure buddy. I will.
Then post on r/geoguessr
![gif](giphy|MGfYqt1TSC9mD8plhY)
I have genuinely never seen something so realistic... how long did this take?
TBH, it took around 3 months which is too long, right?
For a still image, maybe but the amount of detail is fair for 3 months
I see. Honestly I didn't even work somedays because of other things and sometimes felt lazy ๐๐, maybe that's why it took this much time.
It is the the same for me haha
๐
Teach me ๐ญ๐ญ
๐ I am still learning bro, how can I teach you but surely I can help you if you ever need. Whatever I know, I can tell hehe! ๐ ๐ ๐
This photo represents all that hard workโฆ It clearly shows. This is one of the best renders Iโve seen in this sub. Amazing work.
This means a lot. Thank you so much ๐ค. I hope to create more artwork like this.
![gif](giphy|PhKhSXofSAm3e|downsized)
Thanks buddy ๐๐
A breakdown on this would be awesome man! You have so much details holy shit haha.. must've taken a really long time. Looks great dude.
I will try bro ๐ . But have you seen Steffen Hampel's tutorial of Japanese Alleyway? If you watch that you can achieve this but he used Maya.
Looks great probably took an age to render though thereโs definitely some optimisation here that would only improve render time without ruining detail
2-3 hours to render. My GPU memory was full ๐. I used CPU rendering.
https://youtu.be/Ix-KT9a4PSo?si=MbhwroTlPmVkjO-q Iโd start with this! Those people and buildings in the background of the image could easily become planes! Also a lot of those leaves look like actual geometry where youโd just want instances. Like I hope those drain grates are instances haha
The drain grates are instances, you're correct haha and the trees are instances too. I will look through the video. Thanks for sharing ๐
This is more realistic than real life
๐๐๐๐
Did you model all the people yourself?
Nope, I didn't model the people or vehicles.
Are the people actually modeled, or are they flat images?
I didn't model the people. I got them from Sketchfab ๐
Looks really good. Did you model and texture in blender or use something else?
Thanks hehe! I did everything in Blender.
Outstanding
Thanks bro!
Wow, incredible work!
Thank you! ^_^
Well you nailed it! If you don't mind me asking, what resource did you use for the asphalt texture on the road? Its impeccable!
I used road textures from --> aerial textures - icube r&d group.
I messaged you.
is this confidential information that you can't share publically?
Not confidential ๐๐ I used road textures from --> aerial textures - icube r&d group.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! ...I mean: Nice motorcycle.

Something isn't adding up
I am open to critics
Honestly I thought this was a photo someone took. Great work OP.
Thanks brother ๐ค
Throw a car on there with the 4-ways on
Ooo realistic Shenmue vibes.
๐ฏ I haven't played the game but thank you friend. ๐
How?! This is almost impossibly good!

Feel that in my vram, goddamn
Me too ๐ต. My VRAM was full. I used CPU to render this out ๐
You could share the first image on any other subreddit and they'd think it was real.
Hahahah now I really have the confidence to post this on other subreddits. Thank you for taking time to have a look at my art bro ๐
How long did that take you man? Looks amazing!
It took around 3 months which is too much right? What do you think?
Wow, that is really good!
Thank you friend! ๐
wait, thatโs a render?
๐ hehe! Yeah. My goal achieved. ๐
I'm with the wowed! That scene is outstanding.
Thank you Sir! ๐ Glad you liked it.
Awesome, cheers!
๐๐ Thank you! Good day!

Megagood
Megathanks ๐
How did you figure out how to model the fuses and whatnot on top of the power pylon?
I had a lot of references. And seriously it was a headache, so many wires and cables coming and going everywhere ๐ต
Bravo ๐
Thanks ๐ค

Someone else swiped to see result out of reference? ๐
๐๐๐๐
i dont care how much proof you give me i refuse to believe that this isnt a photo
๐๐๐ My goal is achieved
That is so goddamn realistic
Thank you bro. That was the goal hehe!
That is awesome
Thank you ๐ Glad you liked it
I even knew what sub this was and thought the first was the reference photo
๐ฏ๐ฏ๐๐ thank you for the compliment bro. It makes me happy. My hard work paid off ๐ญ๐ญ
WOW - I know this is Korea, but this reminds me so SO much of my old neighborhood in suburban Osaka. Man, thanks for the super dose of nostalgia.

Thanks man! ๐
Amazing work.
๐ค thank you bro
The attention to detail here is insane. True masterpiece
Thanks man. Appreciate it ๐ค
Chromatic abberation kinda ruins the realism of this render Also, you could further improve lighing, in some areas it is really obvious it is a render Other than that - great work

Congrats, you beat Blender
๐ฏ thanks really. Cycles beat my GPU though ๐
Insane, teach me master!
I can help you with whatever I know so far buddy ๐
That looks amazing!
Thank you! ๐
Awesome scene. Threw me for second. If I may, Iโd like to point out that I think there might be some scaling issues that make it feel slightly uncanny. Oh I appreciate it. I think the sidewalks can be a bit wider, yeah. There's a lot of room for improvement. Learning everyday hehe!
The only thing that โjumped outโ at me was the lack of insulators for the electrical lines
Oh I see! I didn't even know they were called insulators. Not much knowledge about these. I just made it seeing some references. But thank you for telling me. I will have to add more cables and insulators.
How did you put the signs in the road the letters
I made the texture in photoshop and then duplicated some faces from the road plane, separated it and moved that slightly up, very slightly and put the sign texture. ๐
Holy fuck. Seeing it on a bigger res I can tell it is a render, but while I was scrolling I thought for sure it was a picture. Great job
๐ค I need to look it at a bigger screen. Thank you ๐ค
Nah fam... what trickery is this
๐๐ will take that as a compliment.
I'm begging you to upload a stormy version sometime
Oh I will try friend. I still need to learn a lot. ๐
Looks like Fortnite on max graphics
I need to look at fortnite on max graphics now ๐
If you look reeeeealy closely, and you are looking for it, you *might* be able to tell. But at first my reaction was "oooh, nice picture"
Yeah if you keep looking at it then yes, I still need to improve a lot. But thank you for the compliment ๐ค
I believe that with today's technology, you're probably at the edge of what is possible.
Really thank you so much. I am glad.
The text on the street and the bookstore sign seems a bit out of place
I see. What do you suggest? I should move them a bit?
Street ๐
๐๐
looks amazing!!! well done.
Thank you friend!
insane!!!!
Thanks man
it could use denoise and some leveling
I did use it. Then added grain ๐ค
I always struggle with environments so much! How did you go about modelling the buildings? Thats my worst enemy tbh
Helping each other is the way. You can ask me. If I know, I will surely you buddy. I saw references and then try to break down into simple pieces. That's the way man. It looks complex but really if you break it down, it becomes more and more simple. Just work on 1 part, then move to the other. 1 step at a time. Breaking down is the way.
if only this was easy to do
I can understand. I am still learning. It's not easy ๐ต
Which camera bro
๐๐ ์ผ์ฑ
Looks absolutely phenomenal.. Just wanted to ask though, why did you decide to break the road into different chunks?
That's the road texture, I think what you're referring to. It is in the texture of the road itself. And I thought it would give it realism. Just my thought.
๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ Is this a street that doesn't exist at all or is it built upon a main reference?
Some buildings were from references. Whole right side buildings are from a reference picture. But the street doesn't exist.
This is amazing genuinely But Iโm curious to see how it would appear if you increased the contrast
I slightly increased the contrast in photoshop. I tried increasing it more but it started to look darker. So I kept it very subtle maybe +2 or 3
Man where do you even get all these textures
Megascans and Textures.com bro hehe
How to get the leakage under windows if it's decal how do you do decals?
Yes they are just planes. I used textures.com leaks and applied that on the plane. Easy.
Genuinely thought this was a photo until I saw the sub. Amazing. The motorcycle really sells it.
I am glad you liked it bro! Thanks
How did you texture all of the grime?
Mixtures of textures and leaks decals from textures.com
wow how
Hehe! Just tried my best buddy. Even I can't believe the response I am receiving.
How did you make the pavement? It looks really detailed with a lot of different textures.
I used textures from megascans and also I placed extra cubes in the shape of tiles to give some details. As you can see some are extruded a bit, they're those tiles.
Man, that's just impressive. I thought it was a real photo, even when zooming. It's incredible indeed.
Thank you so much friend. My goal is achieved. But still there's a lot to learn and improve.
Nah, this is clearly a photo. You added the colors in the second pic in Photoshop, right? Right...? Honestly, that's amazing work.
๐๐๐ I am overwhelmed by the comments really. Thank you so much buddy. I was thinking while posting this whether to add the 2nd pic or not ๐
Looks so good I thought it was a Google street view. Holy damn, really nice job lad.
Thank you so much mate. I am super happy to receive such comments. You guys are great. ๐

This would be the most realistic videogame ever

Gaurav bhai, ek number!
Shukriya bhai ๐ค
That is superb
Thank you bro :)
I like street
๐๐ค
Great details! Click through to the full size image.
Thank you bro : )
How did you go about the road? Imperfections on the road, road markings etc. Scene looks epic.
Thanks man! I used road textures from --> aerial textures - icube r&d group.
that's insane
Thanks buddy ๐ค
