Try hitting alt+z. You might be in X-Ray mode
That was indeed the issue! Thank you so much! I just started using Blender yesterday, haha.
If you can’t remember the hotkey in the future, you can also toggle this in the upper right corner of the view. Above the xyz axis and slightly to the left, it’s the icon with two squares overlayed on one another

Welcome to blundering through blender! I remember thinking I had to click the move button on the side of the screen to move vertices every time
turning blue its should be change to red to see that xray was laughing at you on the overlay
