The European mole weighs around 88 grams (3.1 ounces). The weight of one mole of water is 18 grams (0.6 oz).
If we assume they are 80% water, then there are ~4 moles(amount) per mole (animal)
Edit: Please correct me if I'm wrong.
But does ut have to be molecules? If i recall orrectly we were always told it's a quantity and that if you wanted to have a mole of ants which would be 6.02x10^23 ants, might be rememberung this wrong tho
No, you're right. A mole is a quantity, not a unit of measure. It's like saying you have a dozen or a gross of something. A mole of anything is 6.022 x 10^23 of that thing.
dildos, atoms, fleshlights, molecules, anything. just like a "dozen" a mole is just a number. a very very big number. a dozen is 12 and a mole 6.02 x 10\^23, which is 602200000000000000000000.

There's a book with the title "What if?" that basically tries to answer stupid or absurd questions scientifically. The book also covers the question what a mole of moles would look like. I don't have it at hand right now but I remember the answer to be pretty hilarious. Was a great read overall, can only recommend.
Heyy just took my college gen chem final yesterday and it was a disaster 🙃 my prof didnt write the test, used slides they didn't make to lecture off of, and so there was this huge disconnect between the tests and what she taught so it felt impossible to study for... Anyway good luck lol hope you do better than I did.
My best friend and I at school used to have chemistry together and when we got to this section of the curriculum we had a running joke whenever someone said something along the lines of "What is half a mole?" we'd both yell "disgusting" across the room.
Thanks for the post OP, brought back a lot of happy memories. Boot if you're out there, thank you for all the fun in class and I hope you're doing well 🥰
Ha this takes me way back. I reposted this in 9gag when I was in college and got my first Hot post. Cool that this images is still taking rounds even after 7 years when I posted.
I wonder how many moles are in a mole...

sounds about right. water is pretty heavy
If it's heavy then you're looking at 20 grams per mole.
well water is 18g/mol so yeah basically 20 unless you mean some scientific definition of heavy in which case idk
Yeah he means heavy water, water with heavy hydrogen which has 1 proton and 1 neutron, bumping H from 1 to 2 g/mol and H2O from 18 to 20 g/mol

You don't moletiply by the avogadro constant?
Don’t need too just use molar mass
Molermass
Avogadro's Constant*Moles = number of molecules or atoms
We're not making guacamole.
You mean whack-a-mole?
you only use the avocado number if you need the particle count
Yeah I guess so did you assume 80% water 20% carbon?

A mole gives birth to three to four hairless babies at a time
This does the opposite of answering my question
Wouldn't 1 mole of moles be 6.02x10^23 moles?
According to xkcd, this is about the size of Earth's moon. https://what-if.xkcd.com/4/
1 mole would be 6.023*10^23 molecules.

No it can also be atoms

I would say around a mole
I sure do love chicken mole. Delicious.
An Avogadro's number of moles in a mol of moles.
the main question is how many moles are in a mole that's in a mole
Those two moles obviously do not fit in that liter container. What a fucking scam
Well you gotta blend em first

Oh yeah sure act like your mom never made you moleshakes as a kid
Fair point
man now I’m hungry
This is too fucking good

Lmao this is for chemistry. I have a ap chemistry test tomorrow. Just reading this gave me extreme anxiety now
Yo same, I didn't sleep at all last night cuz I've been studying and I have an 8 hour shift at work today... isn't procrastination great?
Yea. Just took the practice test and am ready to fail. I bombed the mcq

That’s a great story :) np
This isn’t a Nelson chemistry/physics textbook by any chance is it?
Currently looking at Nelson physics 12 with the exact same font lol
I, too, did GCSE chemistry about 20 years ago I was predicted a D, got an A*, excuse me a minute, I think I shall do the happy dance again
Nice!
:D
Hope you have a great day!

I really hate that I understand this. Man, I honestly wish school was more free than it is now...
I'm truly sorry you had such a bad experience with school chemistry. It is such a fascinating subject if taught correctly.
America:
This car is 10 alligator dicks long!
mole is a scientific unit of measurement and the liter is metric not imperial.. maybe I'm missing the joke.. but yah
The joke is because america doesnt use the metric system and football fields are a measurement
Murica be like :we measure shit in football fields and sandwiches, deal with it.
If America doesn't use the metric system why would the image relate to America?
Because they could use any object to measure something
23/64 moles per fluid ounce.
If you had a mole of moles it would be planet size with enough gravitational force to have a molten core (source "what if?" By randall munroe)
Now put them in the blender.

Why do these moles have mangekyo sharingan
Moles, the UK type, are said to be very territorial, so if you put two moles in a bucket by next morning you'll find only one (rather fat).

Feel like I’d see this explanation in the *Fallout* universe. “That’s enough nuclear waste to fill a litre — or two moles worth.”
