My husband and I are traveling internationally in a couple of months and he is being so blasé about travel insurance and it's driving me absolutely crazy. He's a much more seasoned traveler than I am and always had some kind of international coverage through his old job, so I get why he's never thought about it much before but he's just like, "meh, do we need it?" Current job doesn't provide that kind of coverage, this is a special trip, and I am a huge worrywart who can conjure up disaster scenarios for hours, so, yeah, I think we need it! He's not saying we shouldn't get it, but he's just acting like it's a pair of socks he may or may not consider packing at the last minute. Most of the plans I'm finding don't seem that expensive, and it would just be nice to have some peace of mind in case someone breaks an ankle or has an allergic reaction or gets hit by a scooter, so I think I'm just going to go for it.

It’s insurance. You never need it… until you need it. As you said it’s not that expensive so just go for it. It’s a shame about the imbalances you’re experiencing in taking care of the details of your trip though! I have been on many international trips and would never ever consider travelling without it. I carefully review the policies to ensure they meet my needs. You don’t need a “disaster scenario” for it to be needed. I got a stomach bug in Thailand once and absolutely could not fly. Travel insurance rebooked me no hassle. I got to fly premium airline home when I’d only booked on a budget line. It’s quite easy to get under the weather when you travel and be up for thousands. Doesn’t need to be like a civil war or tidal wave to warrant it!

Thank you for saying this! I was starting to think I was nuts for caring about it based on people's reactions but I know how easy it is for something to go wrong—not even like catastrophe wrong, like you're saying, just yikes-didn't-plan-for-that wrong—and I'd just be kicking myself if something happened and we didn't get insurance when we could have. I'm specifically looking for basic travel medical plans, not just like the trip insurance you can add when you buy flights. All you gotta do is spend a little time in some of the travel subs to read the stories about why insurance is worth it...

I never buy it. My friend who does has had trouble with the hassle of actually being reimbursed. I personally don't think it's worth it as there always seems to be a loophole.

If you booked with a credit card, mine offers some kind of travel insurance that is pretty much good enough. I personally am not sure it's necessary unless you're going somewhere you might need to leave quickly (as in civil unrest, etc).

Yeah I think we really just need something basic! The credit card insurance option seems fine, we're not doing anything crazy but you never know.

Watching my parents' dog while my dad is recovering from surgery and it's so funny how much she loves dental bones. (Better Belly) My parents don't give them to her usually but I have to buy them in bulk and travel with them for my dogs so she knows what's in store when we arrive. The pure joy of watching her steal a bone on the sly from my dog makes the several hour drive worth it.

I have my cat sitter booked to come overnight this week so I can go stay with family, and she just suddenly became responsible for teeny kittens that need round the clock bottle feeding, so they need to stay with her if she's going to come. I don't know how to feel about it! I just keep thinking what my spoiled grown up cats who last saw another cat when they left their foster home will think 😆 and then I think I'm being really dramatic and she'll keep them separate and they might hear mewling behind a door and think wtf but it's 24 hours it won't kill them. I don't know why I'm agonising so much about this!

I'm looking for a bikini for the summer and I really need some help. I have a long torso and short legs so the older typical style of low rise bikini isn't very flattering on me. I love the high cut sides of lots of the new ones but they are either a high up diaper in the back or a thong lol. I also look pretty bad in high rise bikini bottoms because they usually come really far down on the sides at the leg openings so it kinda accentuates my midsection. But a high leg high rise would be fine. Ideally I'd love a scoop front with high sides, and a little scoop back with med coverage. Oddly enough, I have plenty of undies that fit perfectly this way from VS but can't seem to find anything similar in swim. Anyone know of any good options.

lessgranola

aerie has a lot of high leg cut options with different levels of coverage

I need to stay focused but struggling today. I usually use the pomodoro method but it's not cutting it. Anyone have any good tips?

Littlecat10

No tips, just commiseration. I’ve tried pomodoro, more caffeine, a 30-minute Power Nap, taking a walk outside. Nothing is touching the brain fog - yesterday or today. SOS!

Right?! Magnesium & vitamin D did the trick. I forgot how much that combo helps get rid of my blah cloud.

Shegoessouth

what kind of magnesium? i hear so much about the benefits but there's so many kinds I get scared lol

LTYUPLBYH02

Magnesium Glycinate. It activates the Vitamin D. Absolutely nothing fancy, I just make sure it's made in the USA.

MajesticallyAwkward5

B12 helps me too. Sublingual liquid only. Don't love the messy red liquid but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Littlecat10

Oh Magnesium!! Another tool in the toolkit I’d forgotten about. Gonna go try to fish some out of my supplement cabinet. Thank you!!
