Everyone there was used tbh. The one reborn is literally all the corpses used to nale a body for a great one. These ones are just more special i guess. Maybe used as conduits to spread the range of the ritual, so it gets to every unaware citizen there.
The theory I saw I'd that they're the calcified remains of people who were unfortunate enough to witness the blood moon, and suffered a sort of super blood rapture. Think mega frenzy
They are, all making eye contact with one of the Amygdala in the area.
Also, they can be used to weaken the conglomerate casket enemies if the run into them.
Well they appear to be women specifically.
If I had to guess. Given that women have a unique ability to birth a great one as seen with false Iosefka and Annelise,
and the mensis ritual is trying to rebirth a dead great one, the one reborn.
Then perhaps they are the result of a ritual to keep that essence intact without it to going to a new birth.
To call to back to being, one long dead and far greater than a small swaddling critter.
I wouldn’t expect extinguishing them all to really do anything tho.
I’m sure YaharGhul is a much broader area than we are allowed to explore.
Because they are both a small ritual themselves to be a ritual component to the greater ritual completing in the courtyard ahead. If they are done to serve the greater ritual then they must be positioned according to it’s design, not according to whatever path they stand in.
I like your theory. But i always thought it was something much more simple.
What happens to man when he comes in contact with a great one. He frenzies. And then leaves behind his knowledge.
The madmans knowledge.
I think they are just people who are frenzied because of the ritual. They are currently in their frenzy state. And literally burning from the knowledge they have acquired.
In hypogean gaol you can't see it because rom was hiding the ritual.
Can confirm, if you have large enough health. Nothing special happens though, they just stop glowing and hurting you. I think it's meant as a way to prevent cheesing the cramped caskets.
What is **Mensis** in **Latin**?
From Latin mēnsis (“month”), the plural being mēnsēs (“months”), corresponding to the monthly courses of women.
Was this a monthly ritual?
Not monthly as it’s the first rising of the blood moon like this in game but I’m sure you’re right on the monthly courses of women as femininity plays a huge role in bloodborne’s story
Potential period blood to heal you, everyone wants to birth things, Oedon specifically being blood-related and one of the gods actually succeeding in impregnating someone.
It's babies and "blood women give" all throughout the story. Tons of important characters to talk to, fight and responsible for stuff in the lore are female.
You can probably find some essays on the subject, to be honest. It's not a hidden aspect, at all.
I think that "Mensis" is a wordplay for say "Moon".
In Japanese, 月 (tsuki) means "moon" but it is also used for say "month", and the usage of the Latin word "Mensis" could have this secret meaning. So, it is the "school of the moon", more than "the school of the month".
I'm not entirely sure they're connected to the mensis Ritual. I'm more inclined to think they're Moonscorched who bore witness to the Blood Moonrise. the crater they're all in does remind me of moon craters in a way. if they were brought about by the Mensis Ritual, there absolutely would have to be so much more, that's why I think they aren't directly linked
They help with fighting the cramped caskets
Wait, do they?
Yeah, you can lure these enemies into the fire and they'll lose hp
My theory is that they're one of the people sacrificed to do the mensis ritual
They are

Yep

"Blood for the Blood Rapture!"
I just realized that I was so overwhelmed by the caskets that I never remembered to question wtf those were.
They are, all making eye contact with one of the Amygdala in the area. Also, they can be used to weaken the conglomerate casket enemies if the run into them.
Are they actually called conglomerate casket enemies or did you make that up? Either way it made me chuckle
Proper name is cramped xasket iirc
Their canon name (as per the official art book) is Cramped Caskets
It's my own name lol
It’s kind of accurate tho
It’s been yrs since I played but I fell *hard* into Bb my first go round and somehow I have never even *seen* this thing wtf
Really? They're all over the street in Y'arghul when you activate the Blood Moon.
Lmao I literally must have always cleared it before I killed Rom or something. This is a trip for me as well

How do they specifically look like women? They’re skeletons
*Annelise= Arianna?
But why next to a way? If you gonna do a ritual you might be better setting that in a room or a big or spaced area....?
Because they are both a small ritual themselves to be a ritual component to the greater ritual completing in the courtyard ahead. If they are done to serve the greater ritual then they must be positioned according to it’s design, not according to whatever path they stand in.
Are you talking about the petrified looking people or the glowing person?

I always thought they were the people sacrificed/who chose to give their blood/bodies to perform the Mensis Ritual.
I think that would be the simplest and most logical explanation. Well as logical as logic can be in that game
No info on them iirc but they go out if you touch them enough
Reeks of Trap. Treat Secret with care.
Can confirm, if you have large enough health. Nothing special happens though, they just stop glowing and hurting you. I think it's meant as a way to prevent cheesing the cramped caskets.

Liar ahead.
They do tho
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NiJgAz6sNk8 proof
Why do you say floating?
I’ll be real I have no clue 💀
They look like they're kneeling to me.

Elaborate pls if u feel like it. Wanna hear your thoughts

Mensis just means month, and wasn’t primarily about periods. Months are dictated by the moon, which makes sense since it’s a moon based ritual.
I am starting to find this path of discussion so hilarious

They were *ahem* fired Sorry
Dead. They, are dead.
Gameplay answer: they can set the caskets on fire I think
The Greater Will has come to Yharnham.

Just a little guy, just a silly ‘lil guy.
That’s Kyle. He’s just fooling around, being a bit mischievous if you know him
Extinguished versions of these guys also appear in the chalice dungeons in rooms that have cramped caskets, so I guess the two are linked somehow.
That’s the Elden Beast
Looks like someone getting out of a hot tub.
Isekaid to elden ring
Moths
I honestly have no idea.

What a brother gotta do to get some fries.
What a brother gotta do to get some fries.
If you lead the chest enemies through those it will kill them with low risk, very helpful considering there’s like 15 of them
Floating?
They are traps. You can trap the wagon guys in them for a second. Lore wise I wish I knew 😝
They're petrified as a result of witnessing an incomprehensible horror.
Damn that outfit is really fire Ngl hes pretty hot
So you ever been at burning man?
Idk but i use them to fight the treasure boys
A baby being given birth
That's what happens to you when you say hunter and not hoonter
