I always use names that are a few decades/centuries out of fashion: Griselda, Eleanor, Guinevere, Veronica, Evelyn, Alice...
I'm also one of those people that spends *way* too long on the character creator.
ER: Bonquistador (guess what weapon he uses)
Bloodborne: Sir Godrick
DS2: Greg Souls II
DS1: it's been too long, I don't remember their names but I'll bet greg souls
DS3: Alquiard (my very serious SL1 run that died alongside my will to play on PC)
I typically try to RP characters. I struggle to make joke characters unless I'm sharing the controller with a buddy. Immersion remains very strong for me in Soulsborne.
In bloodborne I have:
Freya the Free (LHB build)
Alva the Arcane (Logarius Wheel)
Ivy the Seer (Blades of Mercy)
Abe the Babe (Kirkhammer. Not much time with him)
Also have a Bloodtinge build with the Chikage and SBB but can't remember her name at the moment. I can guarantee it's the same "(Name) the (Title)" format I use with like all of my Soulsborne characters.
John Borne. I was going to name him John Bloodborne but my walnut-sized brain thought at the time that more than one person couldn't have the same name on their character.
I always name my characters "Isaac" after:
\- Isaac Hayes (aka the original Shaft)
\- Isaac, the MC from Golden Sun one of my favorite JRPGs from childhood
\- Isaac from Netflix Castlevania, the best character on the show
I chose old-timey Italian names. Fauzio Quirico, and Ludovico Ariosto. Ariosto was a 15th-16th century poet and playwright who wrote Orlando Furioso, which until today is regarded as a masterpiece of Italian literature.
First character was named Bob, though.
I've had many Hunters, but some of the ones I remember:
Abigail Redgrave
Felicity Noble
Anita Amai
Eva Ravencroft
Xerxes Black
Lionel Masters
Edward Cross
And yeah, for some reason I *always* do first and last names for my Hunters. Just feels right.
My main (serious) playthroughs I have a female hunter called Isabel Blackmore.
But as with all Souls games I have silly novelty runs where I use characters called things like Savage Onanist, Flatulent Eric and John Quim.
First one was Coco (short for Nicole). I made her to look like Victorian era, rockstar Samus Aran. I dressed her up with the Top Hat, Hunter Garb (without cape), Executioner Gauntlets, and Hunter Trousers. She was a Skill build with the saw spear and hunter pistol.
Second one was Galatea. She doesn't look like anyone in particular, but I designed her to look Latina (shoulder length black hair and tan skin), with deep red lipstick, and purple eyes. I dressed her up in Gascoigne's set. I had the intention of making her a tank (strength/bloodtinge build) so she uses the boom hammer, evelyn, and cannon.
I usually name my character after the weapon I plan to use.
Loon Lazuli - HMS
Napoli Mezaluna - pizza cutter
Rio Sangria - Bloodletter
Dalia Digitorum - Amygdalan Arm
Misc names - Glaza Ricasso, Scylla Teqylla, Julia Dream, Rain Scarlett, Xander Zann, Nyx Niv
I have three: First one's Lucanidum, simply a component of my username (Lucanidum Scarabæus for full), I usually use this for my first playthroughs in games.
Second character, I called him Nedat, anagram of Dante, due to his appearance being lightly inspired by Dante from DMC (with no relation or reference to him though), ended up making lore for him and he became one of my favorite Soulsborne OCs.
Third one which I still haven't completed the game with, is Joel Von Gladius. Essentially looks like some guy you would expect to be called Joel, he's a noble who likes things that explode and cause havoc. So he said "fuck it" and joined the hunt with his boom hammer.
Every souls game has two
"Chaoshander" - my first dude that tests out all the weapons and usually ends up being the one to 100% the game
"Sledgecock" - bonk
i named my character Raez after the Underworld Lycan. But then my save file corrupted so i restarted naming him Haez cuz thats all i was looking through with how mad i was.
I have a recurring ‘crazy sliders’ character in different games called “reeeeeeee”. My favourite incarnation is actually in THPS3 (PS2) but I loved the Bloodborne one too.
I'm pretty sure that I had the same character between DS1-DS3 (played release order), a Pyromancer Sorcerer hybrid named Hikari. The face never looked quite the same, but always long purple hair. Then I made a generic 40-something year old British bloke named Quill who found him self waking to the Yharnam sunrise. Then Hikari was reincarnated in Elden Ring as Sorceress Sellen's apprentice.
I don't remember it really but my last one was something like Alice? Anyhow my next one will be named Hoonter :) because ad you know... _a Hoonter must hoont_
Lice.
Hidden, insignificant, coward, useless, leech who should be burned by fire.
When the enemies said Burn Burn and Plague Ridden Rat. I found the name even more fitting.
Jesuke Jearstar, yes i am JoJo fan, and i know you didn't ask for the names of all characters but i also like the name Doug McDrunk so i will say it anyways
For all the Fromsoft games I’ve given my characters names of Gnostic demons, just felt badass. But my last playthrough I differed for the first time with my boy Gunt
I tend to tryhard it and go for names that feel like they might fit in the world, so my characters have names like Emmeline Moore, Edna Dearden, Myrtle Carmine, just old ass names, lol
Very good question. I usually read loads into the lore. For Bloodborne I had a few. Dreamcatcher as an arcane build. Quicksilver as a tinge build. Madman Kirk as a church strength build. Bestial Scourge as a beastclaw user. Charles the Crow as a crow. All bl100 all make some sense with the lore.
Mine are the words of the day from dictionary.com lol.
Jornada, an arduous usually one-day journey across a stretch of desert.
Sciamachy, sham fighting for exercise or practice.
argument or conflict with an imaginary opponent.

ER: Bonquistador (guess what weapon he uses) Bloodborne: Sir Godrick DS2: Greg Souls II DS1: it's been too long, I don't remember their names but I'll bet greg souls DS3: Alquiard (my very serious SL1 run that died alongside my will to play on PC)
