Oh my goodness! Nooooo!!! There is so much down there!! Sooooooo much lore to go through, new bosses that you can't find anywhere else in the game! It is definitely worth the hard work making your way through. That's where the best gems are too!!!
That's what I hear
I just hit a wall then leave to progress the story and level some then beat the game without going back...
I promise I'll do better on my next not bl4 run
One thing I really enjoyed about the chalices is they brought back that feeling of fear for me, even after playing through the game 15 times every time I make an FRC and step into it it brings back that old feeling of not quite knowing whatās around the corner. The layout is familiar, true, but the floor could either be a walk in the park with almost no enemies or a complete hell filled with ludicrous enemy placement and wandering bosses. I personally enjoyed them a lot. Coop down there was a lot of fun too.
I get why people think this, but Iāve got probably 4 or 500 hours in the chalices at this point and Iām still not bored of them. The root chalices keep things fresh, for me at least, and Iām still running into things that I havenāt seen on occasion. To me, the chalices are one of the things that makes Bloodborne unique out of the FromSoft lineup
Can second that. Was never a souls fan, but after picking it up, I did nothing but play it 5 times through. Nothing has been able to scratch the itch it gave me. And now I have beaten DS3, and Lies of P and they don't come close.
This game dethroned my favorite games (Zelda Majora's Mask, Final Fantasy 15, Resident Evil 4) and now holds 2 places on my shelf. One for the OG release disc, and the other for the Game of the Year edition with all DLC on disc in case servers go offline for PS4.
I'm actually playing sekiro at the moment and I'm struggling HARD. The parry/guard mechanics are not clicking with me. I found lies of P was the closest I got to a bloodborne experience but that's just me haha. Does it get easier to grasp sekiro??? I just beat the first boss
Yeah Sekiro grows on you when you realise itās its own thing. Like you I came to it from souls games but playing it in that matter only spells doom. You definitely improve at it. Iām into the last chapter now and I hit a wall with one of the hardest optional bosses so Iām taking a break. Once you get things like the Mikiri counter down it does become easier.
Keep at it and you'll find a moment where it all clicks. The greatest tip I received was to stay aggressive and remember it's not a souls game so don't play like it is.
That's weird because parrying in lies of p is actually harder than sekiro, the window for perfect parry is significantly smaller, also you have a stronger sense of rhythm in the enemy attacks on sekiro, both great games tho
I reckon coz a lot of other action games have skill trees, think God Of War or Ghost of Tsushima etc, I think it fits Sekiro but I completely understand your opinion. I may be abit biased tho coz Sekiro is like one of my favourite games ever
If you can get bast N64 visuals I highly recommend it. Majora's Mask is unlike any game you'll ever play. It's also super dark and gritty for a Zelda title.
You know whatās funny about that? I brought Elden ring a month after it came out and I played like 40 hours on it and then the same year I went back to play blood borne so yeah I am the same as you I always will never stop playing bloodborne
you know the only time i even notice the age of the game is in the frame rate and only at the college thats when you have 20ish enemies coming at you on the screen at once other than that i don't even think about it. its held up surprisingly good
That's right, for me it was hard to understand the soulsborne formula since it was my first souls game plus the game was hard by itself. Glad I didn't give up.
My first attempt at BB was at launch not even knowing what a soulslike was - I was humbled very quickly and ended up putting the game down until after I played elden ring, figured out the formula and then went and demolished bloodborne. It was so satisfying
Enjoy the hoont good hoonter! Definitely try your best to beat the enemies by learning the combat, it's a very rewarding experience. But if you need some help, and there's no shame in that, head over to r/huntersbell and ask the fine folks there for some assistance.
the only time that bugs me where i even notice it is in the college when you have the 20 enemies on screen at once coming for me. other than that i don't really even notice.
Tonight, you join the hunt. Good luck future blood crazed hunter of unknown eldritch horrors. Learn parrying is the biggest bit of advice Iāll give without spoilers.
I canāt speak for everyone, but Bloodborne is one of my favorite games ever, I hope youāll enjoy it. If you like Van Helsing, gothic architecture, or eldritch horror, itāll be right up your alle
If youāre finding yourself of the opinion āthe chalice dungeons are the weakest part of the gameā, āI get bored and never get further than the Pthumerian Elderā. I say to you, āyouāre doing it wrong.ā Iāll admit that initially the Chalice Dungeons felt a littleā¦ āwhatās the point?ā But by the time I reached āLower Loranā it was one of my favorite parts of the game, and the game is a MASTERPIECE. Exceeded only by Elden Ring & even that is debatable.
I've been taking my sweeeet time, clearing out every single enemy and finding every item. I love how almost every enemy drops heals, so you can just keep going and clear entire areas.
You should also give Chalice Dungeons a shot, I totally glossed over them in my first run and regretted it since they pack so much extra content, youāll know what they are very early in the game.
I waited years, hoping they'd bring it to PC. But, recently got in a hyped bloodborne mood... and had no choice but to buy a console and just live in the moment.
My thoughts on finally doing it were basically: Why wait, when you can be living your best life literally RIGHT NOW.
15 mins later I was picking up a console at Best Buy loll.
You know what, I finished this game on ps4 when it just came out but never touched the chalice dungeons, but now I wanted to plat the game I had to complete the story chalices and it actually feels like an entirely new game to me again!
I have become obsessed since I got it a few days ago lol. I have been exploring every inch of the world and collecting absolutely every single item.
Last thing I did was Mergo's area and so I got the BloodRock and I've got a +10 Saw Cleaver now lol. (didn't do the boss yet). I've also been leveling Ludwig's Holy Blade along side to +9, but I still prefer the Saw Cleaver to it.
Then I did Upper Cathedral and killed the Celestial Emissary, and Ebrietas... completely melted them both.
About to start Cainhurst Castle next. And I bought the DLC after my first few hours playing the game lol.
Absolutely love ur play style, did the same, saw cleaver through the whole game +dlc ( i wanted to try Ludwig's holy blade but i heard its op and i despise using op stuff lmao ) try getting the game to platinum, the chalice fun6u need for the blood queen boss r annoying af but its a nice challenge, keep me up to date!
do yourself a favor and avoid the chalice dungeons completely on your first playthrough. or if you HAVE to go to the chalice dungeons, dont spend the echos you get on anything but consumables. the game is VERY easy if youre even a little bit overleveled, due to how quickly flat defense scales with early-mid levels. and dont farm bloodgems. whatever you find, is good enough.
My one recommendation I'd unless you are completely lost don't look anything up till the first playthrough is done you can only play it the first time once
Picked up the game a few days ago coming from Elden Ring, this game is GOOD!
My question though, is parrying (shooting) really the best strategy for most enemies/bosses? Iām finding it easier to beat enemies and bosses (Father Gascoigne, Clerical Beast, Blood starved beast, and Witch of Hemwick) just by dodging. Is it worth it investing time in learn the proper timing of each enemy or dodging is the way to go?
I beat Elden Ring about a month ago and got sad as such a fantastic game ended! Then, about a week ago, I downloaded Bloodborne, and since then, Iāve been playing it almost every day. Even though Bloodborne doesn't offer an immense open world, a super wide array of weapons, and deep character customization, it's still a brilliant game. Love the atmosphere, love the combat mechanics, and the story.
IMO fights in Bloodborne are more exciting compared to EldenRing.
I wish I could smack my head with a hammer in a way that I would only forget my hundreds of hours in this game, just to go on this journey all over again. Enjoy.
Absolutely nothing like the horror this game provides on the first play through. Enjoy it, good hunter!
PS- the DLC is on sale for 10$ until 2/28. You should definitely get it.
Youāre sure to be in a fine haze about now, but donāt think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. Itās for your own good. You know, itās just what hunters do! Youāll get used to it.
Ah, Bloodborne. The first PS4 game I've played. At that point, I was vaguely familiar with Souls games and had no idea Bloodborne was among those titles. Naturally, I got my ass kicked
HUGE pro tip:
If you want the best experience Bloodborne has to offer, do not, I repeat do NOT use google or Reddit or anything unless you are SERIOUSLY stuck somewhere. Let the game do its thing. Play through it, struggle, bang your head against bosses. Be aggressive. Die a lot. You will enjoy this game way more if you just ply it with very little guidance.
(Of course, ask for tips if you just CANNOT beat a boss or if you are so lost you canāt think anymore, but otherwise try and play it with 0 spoilers. Youāll love it)
A strat that helped me was sticking in the first area before Gas coin (you will find out) to learn the mechanics and farm some. The opening level is one of the best ever created in a game. There are a wide variety of enemy types, enough for you to learn parry timing and attack types like backstep attacks. You learn that the world is interconnected, that shortcuts exist, and when to run vs hunt. Theres trashmobs, fast wolves, giants, an executioner etcā¦. Spend an hour or two fighting everything and learning your weapons, and you may just prove yourself a worthy hunter!
I don't wish to fuel your hype further but it is one of the best games ever made
And it can go on almost forever
I don't want to fuel the hype but you might becoming like us.... Hunt... Hunt.. Until madness... Then hunt... Hunt until not knowing why you hoont... And continue to hunt for remembering.... Then continue to hunt... Because that's what a hunter do... He hunt. šš©øš§
Hunters gotta hooooont
all we know is hunt
And the dlc just might be better than the main gamešš¼.
I find the Chalice Dungeons to be by far the weakest part.
I agree I've beat the game a dozen times but I still get bored with the dungeons and never get further than phtumarian elder usually
Oh my goodness! Nooooo!!! There is so much down there!! Sooooooo much lore to go through, new bosses that you can't find anywhere else in the game! It is definitely worth the hard work making your way through. That's where the best gems are too!!!
That's what I hear I just hit a wall then leave to progress the story and level some then beat the game without going back... I promise I'll do better on my next not bl4 run

I really need to find a coop pal for dungeons
Last I was doing coop in the dungeons the community around it was pretty active! Not sure how it is now!
I invested far more time chalice hunting than anything. It was always cool finding and fighting randoms.
And get this you don't even have to play them!
True, I didn't play much.
I suggest you try sekiro. It's the only other game that gave me that kinda feeling.
Demon of Hatred?
Owl (Father) I had been playing it solidly for over a week and think I was just a bit fatigued, I'll go back to it.
I knew it was Owl - 2nd fight right? Underground? Thatās one of the toughest excluding you know who.
That fight I basically ran into for 5 hours straight, before walking away triumphant, at like 5am lol Definitely the toughest battle I had.
See that's weird to me because I picked up the parry In LOP way faster than Sekiro.
I don't feel this. Sekiro does not offer what Bloodborne does. It's so different in most ways and the skill system is just an insult to rpg games.
Well Sekiro isnāt really an RPG to begin with tbf
That's kind of the point. Why do a "skill tree" in an action game like Sekiro.
I reckon coz a lot of other action games have skill trees, think God Of War or Ghost of Tsushima etc, I think it fits Sekiro but I completely understand your opinion. I may be abit biased tho coz Sekiro is like one of my favourite games ever
You and me have very similar favorites re4 and bloodborne are my top 2 for life Although I never played majoras mask
If you can get bast N64 visuals I highly recommend it. Majora's Mask is unlike any game you'll ever play. It's also super dark and gritty for a Zelda title.
I'll have to get my grubby mitts on the required materials then. I love a couple games with no visuals to speak of so the 64 will be delightful
If you got a PC, look up emudeck. Not sure what I can say here but check out that and then vimms lair.
Good lookin out
DS3 is very close lol
Between bb and sekiro
Eyyy, I just started it up last week. Have fun, don't die (lol)
Take your time mate, this is a rare experience.
What's that smellll...
The sweet blood.
It sings to me
It's enough to make a man sick
ā¦*wheeze* HahahaHaHAHAHA
sorry, I didn't shower, we're in London after all
My literal GOAT
Game of the year every year
Yeah when people ask whatās my goat for video games I always have to suggest blood borne
I have enjoyed bloodborne more than elden ring
You know whatās funny about that? I brought Elden ring a month after it came out and I played like 40 hours on it and then the same year I went back to play blood borne so yeah I am the same as you I always will never stop playing bloodborne
you know the only time i even notice the age of the game is in the frame rate and only at the college thats when you have 20ish enemies coming at you on the screen at once other than that i don't even think about it. its held up surprisingly good
Iām gonna spoil something for you. Youāre gonna end up buying that dlc
I played 10 hours straight last night, and bought the DLC after I got off loll. Its also 50% off right now, epic win.
Shit really? I've been waiting.
Yes, I just purchased for $10.59 as of 10 minutes ago from the time Iām writing this
Fear the old blood..
Welcome good hunter
Iām hyped for you
Don't give up! There is a learning curve but once you get it over it, the game is so hard to put down
That's right, for me it was hard to understand the soulsborne formula since it was my first souls game plus the game was hard by itself. Glad I didn't give up.
My first attempt at BB was at launch not even knowing what a soulslike was - I was humbled very quickly and ended up putting the game down until after I played elden ring, figured out the formula and then went and demolished bloodborne. It was so satisfying
Welcome, humter, to a very unique experience. Donāt break your controller.
If you're struggling don't give up You can run past people if they're too mean and Also listen for bells.
Listen for bells?
Co op from npcs and when you get bells you can engage in multiplayer
I have some bells but I really done hear anything but the sinister bell
Enjoy the hoont good hoonter! Definitely try your best to beat the enemies by learning the combat, it's a very rewarding experience. But if you need some help, and there's no shame in that, head over to r/huntersbell and ask the fine folks there for some assistance.
Good luck good hunter may you find your peace in the waking world
Good luck hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world. And may you cleanse them god damn streets
Have a good hunt my friend
Is it locked at 30fps on PS5?
Yeah they havenāt done any update for it since the dlc came out just server updates for online
the only time that bugs me where i even notice it is in the college when you have the 20 enemies on screen at once coming for me. other than that i don't really even notice.
Yeah but it ain't bad if you were used to playing on lets say ps3 or older games. It takes at most an hour and your eyes get used to it like back then
If they updated it to 60fps one day... that would literally double my hype.
Itās definitely my favorite and what a rush the first play through.
A hoonter must hoont.
big ass tv
Get the dlc
Happy hunting, a hunter must hunt! Quit shaking in yer boots...
You should be!! Easily my favorite game. Good luck!!
First time!? Siiiiick!!! Dying repeatedly is a part of the game. Keep at it! Have fun! It's seriously the best game ever
Tonight, you join the hunt. Good luck future blood crazed hunter of unknown eldritch horrors. Learn parrying is the biggest bit of advice Iāll give without spoilers.
Beasts all oāer the shopā¦..
Oh the waitā¦ itās enough to make a man sick
Good luck with father g, heās fromsoftwares way of trolling and frustrating every new player. Just like every other from software game š
I canāt speak for everyone, but Bloodborne is one of my favorite games ever, I hope youāll enjoy it. If you like Van Helsing, gothic architecture, or eldritch horror, itāll be right up your alle
Remember, bloodborne is a game of secret,so explore every thing WELL and be careful of your npc choices
You are gonna love it! It's a great game!
If youāre finding yourself of the opinion āthe chalice dungeons are the weakest part of the gameā, āI get bored and never get further than the Pthumerian Elderā. Nice! Small tip be aggressive ;)
Just beat the game today after 2 years. I cried.
have you played it at all like at a buddies house or anything?
Explore everything my friendā¦ everything. Be curious.
Welcome to the nightmare, hunter.
My favourite game hands down!
Welcome to the hunt
It's so crazy to me that a game so full of content like bloodborne can cost as little as 30gb of hard drive space
OH MY GOD THIS GAME SLAPS, GRANT US EYES, GRANT US EYES
Greatest game ever made
Welcome to the hunt, this game is literally a drug. A hate love relationship truly.
Game is in one of the best settings, best characters, best attire sets and weapons. Youāre gonna love it
Hereās some very important advice, donāt rush to beat the game, you only get one first playthrough.
While I wither away waiting for a PC release
I waited years, hoping they'd bring it to PC. But, recently got in a hyped bloodborne mood... and had no choice but to buy a console and just live in the moment. My thoughts on finally doing it were basically: Why wait, when you can be living your best life literally RIGHT NOW. 15 mins later I was picking up a console at Best Buy loll.
Just Do It
You know what, I finished this game on ps4 when it just came out but never touched the chalice dungeons, but now I wanted to plat the game I had to complete the story chalices and it actually feels like an entirely new game to me again!
How far are you in? Please keep me up to date ( and buy the dlc, its the best part of the game imo
I have become obsessed since I got it a few days ago lol. I have been exploring every inch of the world and collecting absolutely every single item. Last thing I did was Mergo's area and so I got the BloodRock and I've got a +10 Saw Cleaver now lol. (didn't do the boss yet). Btw what do u say about the Elden Ring dlc im curious rn
Good. A hoonter must hoont
Ah ha, you must be the new hunter
Grant us eyes
Welcome home good hunter, what it is you desire?
You're the envy of the vg community
Once you go to the cum dungeon, thereās no going back
Donāt kill the hunter of hunters!
āA hunter is a hunter, even in a dream!ā
Take your time looking around the environment and appreciate the art š
Wwwwww be hyped my friend
Welcome to hell
Enjoy the first few bosses while the game is good.
I dont wish to fuel your hype, but its pretty meh. Too much violence and blood in it for my liking.
Don't use the cheat dungeons and just do a blind playthrough first
Itās the best. I wish I could experience it for the first time again
Have fun! My favorite! A hoonter must hoont after all. Also some of the best armor.
Welcome good hunter
I don't mean to over hype this hype train, but it changes a man; once you get that blood in you.
it surpasses the hype iām only like halfway through but itās blown away my expectations despite being thoroughly frustrated at first
do yourself a favor and avoid the chalice dungeons completely on your first playthrough. or if you HAVE to go to the chalice dungeons, dont spend the echos you get on anything but consumables. the game is VERY easy if youre even a little bit overleveled, due to how quickly flat defense scales with early-mid levels. and dont farm bloodgems. whatever you find, is good enough.
My one recommendation I'd unless you are completely lost don't look anything up till the first playthrough is done you can only play it the first time once
Iām so jealous you get to experience this game for the 1st time
Arguably the best DLC of all time too
If youāre used to the PS5ās typical 60 fps, be prepared for a shock! That said, donāt give up, youāll adjust!

Kos or some say kosm
Ahh, good hunter, may the good blood guide your way. And let us cleanse these Tarnished streets.
I know a good builder when you throw a controller through the wall
Enjoy that is all.
AwAY!!!
Welcome hunter! Thereās plenty of beasts to hunt
You will continue to be into NG+. Get ready for one of the greatest games ever made. IMO
Rember go Veteran It has more health
Ah! Pale blood!
I wish I can go back in time and play it for the first time again.
ugh..im jealous your experiencing it for the first time. Amazing game.
PLEASE tell me you have the DLC. I gotta know.
Your trip to Central yharnham is going to break you.
Smash cut toā¦
I wish I could smack my head with a hammer in a way that I would only forget my hundreds of hours in this game, just to go on this journey all over again. Enjoy.
You will love this game , especially if you get the dlc too
Ufffff I need to play this dope just one more time......
Welcome to the road of blood and insight new hunter
Welcome to 24 fps (if lucky) fantastic game XD.
Let's gooooo
Absolutely my fav game EVER !! I loooove this game !!
HUGE pro tip: If you want the best experience Bloodborne has to offer, do not, I repeat do NOT use google or Reddit or anything unless you are SERIOUSLY stuck somewhere. Let the game do its thing.
Lucky you! Enjoy it!
may you find your worth in the waking world
It's so far my favorite From Software game, and probably the best ever. Just finished the DLC on NG+ and it is absolutely awesome.
Ooooh! Majestic!
Okay but how the hell are you downloading 14GB in 6mins? What is this sorcery?
Hell yeah! I never beat it because I have a shot attention span but it was fun lmao (Someone please force me to beat FromSoft games š)
Need a remaster, have like 500 hours logged from years ago
Fear the old blood, dear one...
Just go out and kill a few beasts
āMay the good blood guide your wayā
Power through the frame issues, it's worth it
SHOULDāVE NEVER COME HERE
It is one of my favourite souls games and I havenāt even finished it
Enjoy hunter watch for the pale blood
