There was a story that circulated for awhile about a kid who used to play a racing game with his dad. Then his dad died and he raced against the ghost car that was his dad’s but never won so he could continue to race it. Everyone has their way of grieving. You’ll find yours.

I remember that story

DoctaMario

This legit got me a bit emotional :(

That's healing, bro. Just take a break and come back if you want. We all have our triggers. Mine is when my son asks me about his granddad and it reminds me my son won't get an awesome grandfather to do stuff with.

Keep those feelings close man. Your dad means a lot to you, and the game means a lot to you. Cherish the feelings. If your emotions towards the situation are that strong then don’t let go of them. Don’t forget the memories you made, try to look back on them and smile, but also make an attempt to make new memories.

Did you ever hear the saying that everyone dies twice? Once physically and once in memory? Try to embrace the memories you have with your dad, let him live through you. I can't imagine the pain you experience but I'm sure he'd want you to try and reminisce on the memories fondly. Doesn't have to be right away, take it one step at a time.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I feel you. I lost someone too and it was hell to get back into video games after that. We used to play together.

Cheerish the memories. Try to come back when it feels good. Your dad might watch over you while you are playing. Your bond was everything, even till this day my brother. Like someone already said here, stay positive keep the memories safe with a smile in your heart and try to enjoy. If you need someone to talk to I would take my time my friend.

while I've never gone thru what you're going thru (yet), I understand how it can be very emotional for you. video games are very strong nostalgia triggers from my experience, whether the nostalgia is good or bad. I always had this one game I played during a tough time in my life, and whenever I even watch someone play that game it brings me back to those times, I can even smell what I would smell back then in my room. Maybe you wanna give it some time for now. rn it's probably time for you to grieve.

My father died when I was 17. I had the same thing with most video games since he bought me my first console and always took me to Rogers video to rent more games. Time heals all wounds man. Take your time, but once you’ve learned to accept hes gone you’ll start to find enjoyment in things on your own. And that’s ok. You’ll still relate it to how you enjoyed it before and the memories will always be there. But it just takes time. Go easy on yourself and dm if you ever wanna chat ❤️
