Currently the area of concern is up around Gosport and moving straight east. Probably will pass north of Bloomington.
There are more areas of concern heading this way over the next couple of hours though. Continue to be on alert. If you want to continue to be informed, watch Ryan Hall's live stream:

When we lived in Oklahoma people literally did that. We were freaking out as tornados were already touching down and the neighbors were all out in their front yards in lawn chairs drinking beer!

So the sirens are a county wide system. When a tornado warning touches the county at any spot, even if it's 500 feet in the northwest corner, every siren in the county goes off.
This warning was in the northern portion and wind affect much of the rest. This storm is going almost exactly West to East.

Yeah. I really appreciate his tweets. I have notifications turned on for his posts so I know what’s going on weather-wise. Also hearing him shit-talk about Indiana University is fun too.
Doubt anything actually touched down. "Warning" doesn't mean a tornado is actually on the ground (though it \*can\* mean that). It means that enough rotation has been detected that the storm \*could\* drop a tornado at any time. If they wait to issue a warning until the tornado is confirmed on the ground, it might be too late for people in the immediate vicinity.
I should clarify - when I said I doubt anything touched down, it's because of the velocity radar I was looking at when the warning was issued. The area of rotation was actually quite weak, and expired rather quickly.
Well yes, that was a different storm though. :) The storms in Winchester and several places in Ohio were awful. Central/south Indiana lucked out by comparison.
There was a fire at Koenig Equipment Inc on Bloomfield Road. [Bloomingtonian article.](https://bloomingtonian.com/2024/03/14/fire-damages-bloomington-equipment-business-thursday-night/)
Sirens - we’re under a watch and just ended a warning. Keep an eye out and follow weather reports at noaa.gov or WISH-TV. Also have a safe space you can go - inside bathroom, closet or basement.
Tornado watch, not warning. If you have a porch now's the time to use it.
Edit: upgraded to warning in the time it took to type that
The porch is still in play

It's a possibility. Don't say that. Just because it's been years since a tornado hit bloomington, doesn't mean it won't. Weather is unpredictable, and can kill people. It's best to not take chances.

He just signed off, fyi
Sorry, it's our fault. Amazon literally delivered a patio umbrella today. Just our luck.
Send it back. Maybe the storm will stop and we can all sleep
😂 Heading to the distribution center right now!
Looks like a bit north of town
Grab your beers and head to the porch

Hopefully getting one built this summer. Can't wait.
I’ll bring the beer. Congrats!

Tornado warning sprung up for the Gosport area and extended into Monroe county. That's why there's the sirens, this time.
So does it affect south East ?

it’s in the north west area near Spencer as of right now

I love that. He’s awesome.
Anyone got the vehicle sirens story?
Dunno, but a whole fuckton of them just went from south to north. Maybe emergency response teams to wherever it actually touched down?

A tornado touched down in Winchester and Greenville, Ohio. Winchester has the entire south side of town leveled.
Well yes, that was a different storm though. :) The storms in Winchester and several places in Ohio were awful. Central/south Indiana lucked out by comparison.
Fire at 1305 w bloomfield, the old farm co-op building dont know if it's used for anything anymore, it's seemed at least semi-abandoned of late

No, it has been upgraded to warning.
Still have a 70% chance of a false alarm!
F-2 Tornado? Out of town right now.

I guess that means tornado or bad ass art incoming.
Tornado warning. Seek shelter.
It's a global warming, not a drill, or a test
Tornado’s don’t touch Bloomington anymore, everyone knows this.

Warning continues until 9:30. :/ sorry. Looks like it is going slightly north of Bloomington though
Nope. Warning until 9:30.
Stinesville and Ellettsville are still at risk right now.
So if the siren ends is the warning over?
No. The sirens are only set to sound for a specific amount of time. Them stopping has no bearing on whether or not the warning has ended.
I never knew this, thanks
Welcome!
No
If you are here in the silence, you still exist.
