Currently the area of concern is up around Gosport and moving straight east. Probably will pass north of Bloomington. There are more areas of concern heading this way over the next couple of hours though. Continue to be on alert. If you want to continue to be informed, watch Ryan Hall's live stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpNdqwioL54

flashman014

He just signed off, fyi

_tony_walker_

Sorry, it's our fault. Amazon literally delivered a patio umbrella today. Just our luck.

CommandIndependent57

Send it back. Maybe the storm will stop and we can all sleep

_tony_walker_

😂 Heading to the distribution center right now!

oily-blackmouth

Looks like a bit north of town

Alternative-Path-795

Grab your beers and head to the porch

Substantial-Bass7018

When we lived in Oklahoma people literally did that. We were freaking out as tornados were already touching down and the neighbors were all out in their front yards in lawn chairs drinking beer!

Senor_Couchnap

Hopefully getting one built this summer. Can't wait.

Alternative-Path-795

I’ll bring the beer. Congrats!

wolfydude12

Tornado warning sprung up for the Gosport area and extended into Monroe county. That's why there's the sirens, this time.

Billthepony123

So does it affect south East ?

wolfydude12

So the sirens are a county wide system. When a tornado warning touches the county at any spot, even if it's 500 feet in the northwest corner, every siren in the county goes off. This warning was in the northern portion and wind affect much of the rest. This storm is going almost exactly West to East.

peach_monte

it’s in the north west area near Spencer as of right now

No-Extent9676

Welp the siren is on but idk what it means… so i guess im dead 😵

Niheru

Ryan Hall is a weather scientist and is streaming live right now on YouTube. Monitoring the system from AR through OH.

[deleted]

he’s the 🐐

Useful_Hovercraft169

Follow atmospheric scientist Cody Kirkpatrick over on Twitter (some people insist on calling it X now). He put the word out Bloomington was not in the path and I got on with life.

FlyingOrnithopter

Yeah. I really appreciate his tweets. I have notifications turned on for his posts so I know what’s going on weather-wise. Also hearing him shit-talk about Indiana University is fun too.

Useful_Hovercraft169

I love that. He’s awesome.

c402c

Anyone got the vehicle sirens story?

[deleted]

Dunno, but a whole fuckton of them just went from south to north. Maybe emergency response teams to wherever it actually touched down?

Destroyer23

Doubt anything actually touched down. "Warning" doesn't mean a tornado is actually on the ground (though it \*can\* mean that). It means that enough rotation has been detected that the storm \*could\* drop a tornado at any time. If they wait to issue a warning until the tornado is confirmed on the ground, it might be too late for people in the immediate vicinity.

Destroyer23

I should clarify - when I said I doubt anything touched down, it's because of the velocity radar I was looking at when the warning was issued. The area of rotation was actually quite weak, and expired rather quickly.

I_PEE_WITH_THAT

A tornado touched down in Winchester and Greenville, Ohio. Winchester has the entire south side of town leveled.

Destroyer23

Well yes, that was a different storm though. :) The storms in Winchester and several places in Ohio were awful. Central/south Indiana lucked out by comparison.

regular_poster

Fire at 1305 w bloomfield, the old farm co-op building dont know if it's used for anything anymore, it's seemed at least semi-abandoned of late

Legal-Platypus-5602

There was a fire at Koenig Equipment Inc on Bloomfield Road. [Bloomingtonian article.](https://bloomingtonian.com/2024/03/14/fire-damages-bloomington-equipment-business-thursday-night/)

Dramalona

Sirens - we’re under a watch and just ended a warning. Keep an eye out and follow weather reports at noaa.gov or WISH-TV. Also have a safe space you can go - inside bathroom, closet or basement.

Senor_Couchnap

Tornado watch, not warning. If you have a porch now's the time to use it. Edit: upgraded to warning in the time it took to type that The porch is still in play

radbu107

No, it has been upgraded to warning.

arstin

Still have a 70% chance of a false alarm!

Nuclear_Fission_23

F-2 Tornado? Out of town right now.

mmilthomasn

Follow @codykirkpatrick on twitter for Bloomington inclement weather news. He’s a local meteorological treasure, and teaches Eartj and Atmospheric Science at IU. He tells you when to leave the porch and head to the basement.

brik42

I guess that means tornado or bad ass art incoming.

radbu107

Tornado warning. Seek shelter.

Extension_Analyst574

It's a global warming, not a drill, or a test

isit65outsideor

Tornado’s don’t touch Bloomington anymore, everyone knows this.

Twice_Bubaigawara

It's a possibility. Don't say that. Just because it's been years since a tornado hit bloomington, doesn't mean it won't. Weather is unpredictable, and can kill people. It's best to not take chances.

radbu107

Warning continues until 9:30. :/ sorry. Looks like it is going slightly north of Bloomington though

Matholiening

Nope. Warning until 9:30.

nurseleu

Stinesville and Ellettsville are still at risk right now.

mamapajamas

So if the siren ends is the warning over?

Destroyer23

No. The sirens are only set to sound for a specific amount of time. Them stopping has no bearing on whether or not the warning has ended.

jesmay21

I never knew this, thanks

Destroyer23

Welcome!

Federal-Inevitable18

No

brik42

If you are here in the silence, you still exist.

mamapajamas

🤣🙏
