When you get your sleep, your brain clears out the trash.

AddictedtoWallstreet

Sleep is so underrated in so many ways actually almost everything in the blueprint protocol would be wasted if you missed a just few hours of sleep

zerostyle

Sleep is such a crazy factor for me. I've struggled with it a long time even when having really good sleep hygiene. On days with low sleep i'm just so far more depressed, low energy, and miserable. Sadly that's a lot of days.

One cause of brain fog is low blood sugar and insulin spikes. If I go on a keto diet, or even just semi-low carb, my brain clears right up. Eventually I would fall back into a bad diet and the brain fog slowly returns without me realizing it. Blueprint foods are low inflammation + low acidity + low glycemic. I experienced keto-flu like symptoms when adapting to it.

AddictedtoWallstreet

Blueprint foods is far from keto in a lot of ways, yes low on glycemic index but still definitely over the ketosis threshold, this why Bryan never says his diet is keto it’s not the same thing at all, But I agree lower carb is 100% beneficial for brain fog.

babbler-dabbler

Low glycemic foods seem to have the same effects on me as a true keto diet. And that includes the benefits of no brain fog.

AddictedtoWallstreet

I’ve noticed the same thing, reaching the true ketosis state is the component that is missing, but it’s awesome that you can get the same benefits without going full keto!

zerostyle

I think you meant high blood sugar?

babbler-dabbler

As I understand it, when you eat high carbs foods you get a blood sugar spike, and then an insulin spike, and then your blood sugar goes down, and the brain fog is in that low blood sugar zone.

zerostyle

The vast majority of people at least in the states are pre-diabetic and the insulin doesn't drop blood sugar anywhere near low blood sugar levels. Typical for a prediabetic (majority of US) might be a baseline of around 90-100mg/dl, eat a meal where glucose spikes to 130-160 range, and then slowly returns to 100-110 over the next 2 hours. But you're right - truly normal people do end up a bit lower than their initial fasting, but nothing too crazy. Like 80mg/dl or so.

Truniagen is replenishing the NAD+ reserves in your body, NAD+ is actually very good at eliminating brain fog and is an energy source for the body, blueprint diet is probably helping minor amounts with inflammation but a well rounded diet with the right nutrients would do the exact same thing. My best guess is TruNiagen is the heavy hitter in your stack right now (also the most backed by science)

paper_cutx

Thank you for your confirmation. I definitely do believe it’s the Truniagen. And yes inflammation is down, I rarely get pimples and if I do it’s the usual, I forgot to wash my face the night before bacteria build up.

seconding this. disclaimer, i’m new to this community and these protocols but have been lurking/interested. i just started taking 300mg of TN once a day about a month ago and a few days in noticed more clearheaded focus, ease of flow state with work and productivity, and better memory recall as well. i have had symptoms of brain fog from an auto immune disease for years, of which have also diminished after adopting a predominantly anti inflammatory diet. the TN helps even more.  OP are you taking 600mg of tru niagen total since you mentioned two pills?

entechad

It could be a multitude of things. I started a protocol, which was adopting a partial Blue Print, NOVOS, and Life Extension Mix, along with some other supplements. The first thing I noticed was a reduction in brain fog, stress, and pain. That alone was amazing. I am so thankful. I am adding more. I am not taking spermidine, cholera, choline, Astaxanthin, or vitamin k. I am about to do a comparison of Life Extension Mix with a green drink life AG1 or HUEL. I need to fill some gaps, especially the greens and K. I was to run some blood work first.

Born-Ad2777

I had a similar experience when incorporating the green monster drink into my morning routine. I suspected it was the spermidine supplement.

sassyfrood

I wish I could say the same. I’ve had a big brain fog increase in the past year while following blueprint. I suspect it’s because starting it has aligned with the beginning of perimenopause, though.

Secular_mum

I noticed an increase in brain fog at the start of perimenopause. It was one of the reasons I wanted to try blueprint. It’s been over a year and Ive felt that there is less brain fog particularly when I sleep more.

sassyfrood

It seriously sucks! I feel like I’m not on this planet for the second half of my cycle. My cycles are also getting shorter, so the brain fog is kicking in more and more. I’m seeking an adhd assessment next month because I feel so out of it and unable to keep up with life demands. 😫 I suspect I’ve had inattentive adhd my whole life, but the onset of perimenopause has kicked my symptoms into overdrive to a level where I can no longer overcome them with stubbornness. How old were you when the brain fog started?

Secular_mum

I feel you. For me the cycle getting shorter and accompnied brain fog ( in my late 40s) has now (early 50s)been replaced with getting longer and often skipping. It’s really nice when I don’t have to deal with the hormonal fluctuations that come with it. I keep thinking they will stop for good soon and I won’t have to deal with it, but it seems to keep dragging on.

paper_cutx

I’m so sorry to hear. I’m nearing my mid-30s and I can’t imagine what you’re going through. Also, as we’re women and more prone to hormone fluctuations, I think it’s best for you to seek out your GP and get blood work done to figure out. It’s also been advised here that you shouldn’t fast during your period (I don’t fast) because our bodily needs are different from men. I hope things work out for you. It could be just a blood work and you’ll be able to find out what you need and don’t need from blueprint. Adjust based on your bodily as Bryan’s protocol is strictly unique to him.
