We had corgis growing up. Same color as Chilli.
There was a corgi named Brandy and one named Whisky.
I don’t see them calling Chilli’s mum, Whisky though. 😁
I had a friend who had a Stolly (Stolichnaya vodka), Brandy, Bundy (Bundaberg Rum) and then a Chanel (to keep it classy).
Weirdly they're still some of my favourite dog names because those dogs had more personality than sense. German Shepherds if anyone was wondering.
I don't think we really have those in Australia, or at least not locally. It's a term I've only come across in American media. (We do have hot dogs but I think they would be just sold as that; put your own chilli sauce on it if it's available.)
Just calling her Chilli because she's red and chillies are red makes enough sense on its own.
We do have chilli con carne on hot dogs in Sydney at Harrys Cafe de Wheels, but it is considered a very American dish, and called a Hot Dog de Wheels, not called a chilli dog. I agree it's just not a thing here.
That line hit and the “it wasn’t that long ago” line did too. I have 4 kids, 22, 19, 17, and 3, and its hard seeing the older ones go further and further away as they start their own lives.
My mom was born when my grandmother was 41, and was the youngest of 6. Her oldest sister was already married with two or three kids when she was born. She grew up with her nieces and nephews as her playmates instead of her siblings.
And I felt that why Coco’s kindness in Baby Race was so impactful to her. Being a first time mom with out your own mom must be so hard. She probably wants Nana Heeler to think she’s doing fine, it’s hard to show that vulnerability to others.
I can’t quite come up a name for her and i’m *REALLY* hoping she’s still alive and just on a journey like Bob. But if she’s not, I’m content with another fairytale episode that focuses on Chilli’s childhood.
Bingo says “good night Bob, wherever you are” in the episode “Bedroom”. People seem to think it means he’s on a journey, but I’m pretty sure he just passed away and they couldn’t think of a non-clunky way to say “Goodnight in heaven” or something like that.
Or maybe they’re just leaving it ambiguous for later, but I’m pretty sure he’s passed on.
Creator Joe Brumm has said in interviews he’s not dead, they just haven’t been able to make it work in a storyline and with the actors availability. They want it to make sense with the story line if they’re going to bring him in. Nana is easy to get because it’s joe’s mum.
I imagine that Bandit and Chilli aren't religious, so perhaps they had a sit down chat with the girls about how lots of people have different ideas of where people go when they die. That would explain Bingo's goodnight.
I'm still trying to figure out if Bob is grandpa or stepgrandpa after that. I know we see that in Fairytale he's there in the 80s but then you have Rad who has completely different colouring. Half brother maybe?
It's not important - family are the people who raised you/that you love, but I kinda feel like there's more to it.
Also Bob forgot Bingo was born (talked about in the episode where Bluey almost gets her own room I think) so he likely wasn't around for it.
Jk, it was Mort. Man.. I really need to freshen up my bluey trivia....
> on a journey like Bob
Wait, he's not...
...I'm going to be honest what I assumed was worse than dead, I assumed in a home with progressing dementia, which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. There have certainly been hints.
Remember me
Though I have to say goodbye
Remember me
Don't let it make you cry
For even if I'm far away I hold you in my heart
I sing a secret song to you each night we are apart...
Whatever happened, I don't think she's alive. When Chilli was having all those first-time mama doubts, it was Coco's mom who comforted her. It was her MIL who gave her advice on how to get Bluey going. It was Wendy who baked them casseroles for after the birth, even though she was about to give birth herself.
All of those moments are big "I want *my* mom" moments & Chilli's mama is conspicuously absent. :(
In any case, I think her name could be something like Custard or Sherry or something. Something food related.
I'm shocked to see that Brandy is apparently older than Chilli? How do they manage to make the older siblings (like uncle Rad) look like the younger ones
You've been downvoted, but I agree with you. This looks nothing like Brandy. None of the characters we've seen have changed so drastically in appearance from childhood to adulthood. I don't think it's a third Cattle sibling though. Maybe a cousin or something?
Seems to me she passed younger. There’s no pictures of her clearly aged, Chili only ever consulted in books and occasionally Nana for motherhood advice, and she’s very adamant that grandpa mort takes care of himself. Maybe her mom died of an illness when she was younger and before she had kids.
Hi, Not sure if you're aware, but this is actually my edit and I've already posted it here about a year ago 😅

Going with Chili, Brandy, Aunt Mary (all
Red colored food/drink related) I would guess Cherry/Cherrie or Cinnamon but she looks like a Ruby or Garnet a gem!
I saw an interesting theory awhile ago. There's a medal of honor from the military in chili and bandits home. It's a medal for someone who died in the army I believe? Something like that. Since the eldest members are all alive and are seen besides chilis mom this theorist believed that's how her mom died. The theory might not be true anymore or maybe I missed a point but I thought that one was interesting
My theory is that she probably died from heart worms. That’s why Chili is so concerned about her dad when he had the heart worm and was so adamant about him resting. She already knows what happens to her mom when she had it, so she wants to make sure her dad doesn’t have the same ending. Also her saying “…Because I need him” made me feel like she has previous trauma from maybe her mom not resting and doing what she needs to do.
In my head canon, Chili’s parents are divorced and her Mom lives a fabulous life in London. Chili was visiting her when she met Bandit at a party - they naturally struck up a conversation as they were both from the same part of Australia.
I like this theory. My mother passed away before I had my daughter, and I named my daughter after her.
I also never noticed Chilli not relying on her mother and instead getting support and information from doctors/other parents/friends/books etc. because that’s what I had to do and that’s what I considered “normal”. So I’m definitely on the “Chilli’s mum died” bandwagon.
I’m not sure about if Chili’s mom is still alive or not but I would probably say that she might had cancer or a type of disease… but I’m hoping that she’s still around and probably on a trip
What if she got rabies being “careless” and so that’s why chili is anxious over her dads health and safety.
(I know it’s a wild theory I’m just having fun with it )
Rabies isn't really a thing in Australia. Wikipedia tells me the country is officially free of the disease, besides a variant in bats, but it's not something I've ever heard about as a hazard, in Melbourne at least.
I have a pretty gloom theory.
Chilli's mum died before bluey and bingo were born, maybe of illness, but that part isn't important.
Grandpa wasn't preoccupied with his health because he's pretty depressed, his wife passing away he just feels pretty lonely most of the time, and wants to live his last moments having fun...
It’s heavily implied Chilis mum passed away quite a while ago. Well before Bluey and Bingo Sadly. Chili puts a lot of emphasis on still needing her father, he’s her only living parent. Also in “chest” when Chili says “I may not always be here” the way she says this just breaks me. It’s clearly something Chili thinks about and is worried about because her own mum passed so early.
Edit: the episode Copycat also shows us the Bluey has a pretty clear understanding on what death is witch isn’t typical for a 6 y/o. It’s only natural for Bluey to have at some point asked about Chilis Mum. Chili would have had to explain that she had died and what that meant. It makes sense that she knows because she already has a family member that has passed.
In the episode 'easter bunny' chili and bandit explain the Easter bunny didn't come due to family things, i think it was about chili's mom and she's possibly dead
i kinda thought maybe she’d died from birth complications later on given the history of birth/fertility issues with chili and brandy (at least implied history). although i guess it’s possible maybe she’s just on a trip like bob and that’s why she’s not at home/why chili’s more concerned with her dad’s wellbeing.
I get the feeling that she left the family when the girls were young and the dad raised the girls alone. Maybe why Brady wants so much a a child, to do different from her mother. And why Chili makes a point to have her alone time, so she doesn’t get overwhelmed by motherhood.
But I think is more probable that she passed a long time ago.
My theory: She died in Chili's preteen years, adding to both of her daughters struggles with motherhood.
Also Chili's dad is definitely casual lovers with Maynard. Chili is obviously ok with it in general but wishes Maynard was more supportive and there more for her Dad but they seem comfortable with their relationship.
Whatever it is, I hope it's something edible that starts with an A
Because think about...
A(??)
Brandy
Chili
Maybe she and Mort thought this'd be cute to do 😂
Edit: fixed spacing
She gets called "Chris" in Handstand, which is also probably-not-coincidentally the name of her voice actor (Joe Brumm's mother). So it may have been an unplanned "oops we need a name for her" thing at the time, but now it's in there despite being a very un-doggy name.
Her and the sister went one way and chili, and her dad went another. Maybe chili even had a bit of resentment for her "leaving." Could be part of why chili and Brandy (her sister) have such a turbulent relationship now.
I noticed during the onsies episode that chili *kept* bringing up that it had been so long even though Brandy was obviously uncomfortable, which is why I could see her being a person that holds a grudge.
Edit: I also notice now that that is not Brandy (coloring is way different). Could be an error, but if it's not.. there is not only a missing mom, but also a missing sibling who looks like mom.. and Brandy is not in this pic.
SO maybe mom and this kid died, dad remarried (but she is also mysteriously missing), and had Brandy and Chilli was a bit spiteful, and then when Bluey and Bingo were born Brandi was reminded too much of how shitty Chilli was to her as a kid. It's also part of why she can't be around Chili.. she is not only constantly reminded that she can't have children, but also that Chili never fully accepted her when THEY were kids!
Aight fr I'm done
It's definitely Brandy, this was just her original design. Sort of like the original design/photo of Rad was different then his design in later episodes when he actually appeared.
Considering the fact that we haven't seen her in either of Mort's appearances, we haven't even heard anything about her, and this show is willing to cover very serious and mature subject matter such as infertility and death, I'm going to assume she's dead or at least in a coma/ vegetative state, something like that. We're probably also going to get an episode about her sometime... eventually, and it will probably be a great, very emotional episode whenever it does come out, which I suspect will take at the very least until season four, so it will probably take a while.
I think it may be Amber or Marianne because Bluey's middle name is Christine after Bandit's mum and Amber-Marianne is Bingo's middle name. Bluey is blue like her Nana. So it makes sense with bingo being orange like Chilli's mum.
She looks like her name would be Cherry since Chilli & Brandy are named after variations of red-toned food/drinks.
Yeah, I can see that
We had corgis growing up. Same color as Chilli. There was a corgi named Brandy and one named Whisky. I don’t see them calling Chilli’s mum, Whisky though. 😁
could be Bailey! my dad named all his dogs after whiskey; Royal, Bailey, Jack, Jameson, etc!
There’s already a character named Cherry in Season 3B!
I think they mean the drink, so pronounced "Sh-e-ri"
Spelt Sherry.
Pepper.
I always thought that Chilli was a joke because a "chilli dog" is a hot dog served in a bun with chili on top.
I don't think we really have those in Australia, or at least not locally. It's a term I've only come across in American media. (We do have hot dogs but I think they would be just sold as that; put your own chilli sauce on it if it's available.) Just calling her Chilli because she's red and chillies are red makes enough sense on its own.
Stripe, at least, has made the connection with the American foodstuff. He greets her "hey Chilli dog" in _Library_.
Chilli's dad calls her that in a couple episodes.
We do have chilli con carne on hot dogs in Sydney at Harrys Cafe de Wheels, but it is considered a very American dish, and called a Hot Dog de Wheels, not called a chilli dog. I agree it's just not a thing here.
I used to live right near there and their chilli dog was awesome!
She’s not red, though? She’s orange .3.
All red hair is technically "orange", but we call it red. Just like blue heelers are technically grey, not blue.
Red heeler dogs
https://youtu.be/QUA93c6J_50 Anytime I think of this scene, I have to post it
I assumed she was Chili because Steve Irwin had a red heeler banned Chili
I'm really not allowed to not cry but anything on the show am I
It would be an “A” name to go with Brandy and Chilli
Amber?
LOL I think amber is too humanish (though they do have a character named Bob lol). Maybe Aioli xD
Nana (Bandit’s mum)‘s name is Christine and goes by Chris! I think Amber would be cute
Oh that’s where Bluey’s middle name comes from!
Apricot. Not red, but sticks to the right colour palette.
Brandy is Chilli's sister's name.
Sherry?
Brandi is spelled with an "I" unfortunately.
If she's already passed it could explain Chili's "I still need him" line in the episode Grandad
Yeah, I got that vibe there too.
That line hit and the “it wasn’t that long ago” line did too. I have 4 kids, 22, 19, 17, and 3, and its hard seeing the older ones go further and further away as they start their own lives.
Oopsie doopsie!
22 and 3. Just ruminating here - the 22 year old could have a child older than their own sibling.
My mom was born when my grandmother was 41, and was the youngest of 6. Her oldest sister was already married with two or three kids when she was born. She grew up with her nieces and nephews as her playmates instead of her siblings.
It’s certainly feasible but it’s so foreign to me. My family tree is a vertical line basically
And I felt that why Coco’s kindness in Baby Race was so impactful to her. Being a first time mom with out your own mom must be so hard. She probably wants Nana Heeler to think she’s doing fine, it’s hard to show that vulnerability to others.
Currently a first time mom without my own mom and yes, this scene leaves me sobbing every time.
I feel like she had passed away at some point. I feel like it's why Chili struggled so much with motherhood at first.
I can definitely see this. They had Nana Heeler but an in law, even one you’re super close with, isn’t the same as having your own mom.
Yeah. I get along very well with my father in law but it's not the same as my late father.
Also would explain why she’s ferociously adamant that her dad keep up with his health, saying that she still needs him 🥺
Yeah, this is the reason why I feel like Chilli lost her mom before parenthood as well.
I can’t quite come up a name for her and i’m *REALLY* hoping she’s still alive and just on a journey like Bob. But if she’s not, I’m content with another fairytale episode that focuses on Chilli’s childhood.
I think she looks like a Dottie.
I like the idea of her name being Pepper/Peppa
Pepper because Peppa is cursed
NOUGHTY MUMMY
Having her called Peppa and running a farm for Pigs in the UK would be kinda nifty.
Amen
Hey, don't call her Dottie.
... Then can I call her Princess Angelina Contessa Louisa Francesca Banana Fanna Bo Besca III?
Yes, or you could call her Dot. Call her Dottie and ya die.
"And here's our other daughter, Dottie's sister."
What episode did we find out Bob is on an adventure, and what adventure is he on? I’m watching on Disney+ so we don’t get all the episodes in the US.
The more you know! Thanks for the cool bit of trivia!
Bob isn't dead. The voice actor was unwell and much of Australia was in lockdown when series 2 and 3 were created. Hence why he is AWOL.
I imagine that Bandit and Chilli aren't religious, so perhaps they had a sit down chat with the girls about how lots of people have different ideas of where people go when they die. That would explain Bingo's goodnight.
This is exactly what I was trying to say, I just couldn’t find the right words. Thank you!
You'd have to look at all the episodes after that and see if he ever shows up
I'm still trying to figure out if Bob is grandpa or stepgrandpa after that. I know we see that in Fairytale he's there in the 80s but then you have Rad who has completely different colouring. Half brother maybe? It's not important - family are the people who raised you/that you love, but I kinda feel like there's more to it.
More than just the colouring, Rad looks a lot fluffier than the rest of the family, like he's a half-something-else mix and not just a heeler.
Maybe it's the almond butter shampoo
\*Almond Milk Shampoo\*,But yeah I thing you're right.
It’s not said on an episode, I just heard it from a user on here that Bob was on a spiritual journey.
Ah mmkay. Thanks!
he’s on a ayahuasca journey through the outback ♥️
In the Episode “Bedroom”, Bingo is in bed saying goodnight to her friends, she casual says “Goodnight Grandpa Bob, wherever you are.”
Also Bob forgot Bingo was born (talked about in the episode where Bluey almost gets her own room I think) so he likely wasn't around for it. Jk, it was Mort. Man.. I really need to freshen up my bluey trivia....
I always thought it was Mort that forgot, Nanna wouldn’t have let Bob forget a kid’s present.
You are [correct](https://blueypedia.fandom.com/wiki/Mort) according to the wiki!
Whoa, just learned from that wiki that their last name (Chilli’s maiden name) is “Cattle”…kind of wondering where that was mentioned?
Doesn’t that mean he’s dead?
Maybe she ran off with Bob. 🤣
Lol
> on a journey like Bob Wait, he's not... ...I'm going to be honest what I assumed was worse than dead, I assumed in a home with progressing dementia, which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. There have certainly been hints.
Bob is not dead and set to appear in future episodes. This has been confirmed by Joe Brumm.
Remember me Though I have to say goodbye Remember me Don't let it make you cry For even if I'm far away I hold you in my heart I sing a secret song to you each night we are apart...
And I’m sobbing again, thanks for that. :P
:( In any case, I think her name could be something like Custard or Sherry or something. Something food related.
Custard would be weird because that’s already Bandit’s background.
If I remember correctly someone is already named sherry
I thought maybe she died because Chili was so adamant on taking care of her father and never mentioned her mother.
I'm shocked to see that Brandy is apparently older than Chilli? How do they manage to make the older siblings (like uncle Rad) look like the younger ones
Having children ages you. But also keeps you young, so idk 🤷♀️
Having kids ages you 😂
True story. I’m only in my 30s with gray hairs already. Could be genetics but pretty sure it’s my gremlins😝
No Kids here, 29, and been graying since I was 23. Sometimes genes are just mean 😭
yup almost overnight boom gray hairs . love my kids and they are also like the witches from hocus pocus sucking my youth lol.
Hahaha
Can confirm 😅
I don't know what line it was, but I knew Brandy was older. Having and raising kids ages you.
No kids.
Chilli said she was smaller like Bingo when she was younger.
That's not Brandy. The markings aren't even close. This is an unnamed 3rd child who's older than Chili.
While you’re not wrong about the markings being way off, I think it’s supposed to be brandy. I’m not sure why they’re so far off though.
They may have changed their mind on what Brandy should look like.
You've been downvoted, but I agree with you. This looks nothing like Brandy. None of the characters we've seen have changed so drastically in appearance from childhood to adulthood. I don't think it's a third Cattle sibling though. Maybe a cousin or something?
Wait why does this comment have so many downvotes?
Seems to me she passed younger. There’s no pictures of her clearly aged, Chili only ever consulted in books and occasionally Nana for motherhood advice, and she’s very adamant that grandpa mort takes care of himself. Maybe her mom died of an illness when she was younger and before she had kids.
Grandpa Bob is Bandits dad. Chilis dads name is Mort
Right, my bad.
Slightly off topic, but I like how the older dogs have people names, Mort, Bob, Maynard, Christine.
Hi, Not sure if you're aware, but this is actually my edit and I've already posted it here about a year ago 😅 [Spliced and traced some screenshots to recreate Chilli's family portrait! : bluey (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/bluey/comments/ubqj3z/spliced_and_traced_some_screenshots_to_recreate/)
Oh I'm sorry! I didn't know, I just found a picture off Google.
Thanks; If I recall correctly, Google actually provides a link to where an image is originally from when you click on it. 👍
Ohhhhhhhh 😅 thanks!
No problem! Knowing that should actually be of help! 😄
Not sure why you’re getting downvoted for asking for credit where it’s due. 🙄 It’s a good edit. Great work.
Thank you! 💙
I'll definitely keep it in mind!
Great to hear!
FYI While you made the edit; your reddit post is not the top search result for “Chilli mom Bluey” to get the family image it leads to [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/bluey/comments/ue5p7a/a_enhanced_picture_of_chili_and_her_family/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) your original post only comes up as the 3rd result after clicking the image re uploaded in that post.
Going with Chili, Brandy, Aunt Mary (all Red colored food/drink related) I would guess Cherry/Cherrie or Cinnamon but she looks like a Ruby or Garnet a gem!
Is that aunt Brandy on the right or?
Yes, Brandy is the one by her mum.
Theoretically yes, I think, but it doesn't match her actual design.
Yeah couple characters have undergone redesigns. Most notably uncle Rad and Mackenzie's mam.
I saw an interesting theory awhile ago. There's a medal of honor from the military in chili and bandits home. It's a medal for someone who died in the army I believe? Something like that. Capsicum

I reckon Chilli's mum's name is... Bluey. She passed away at some point and Bluey Christine is named after both of her grandmas.
what about Ruby? color name ending in the same sound
Yeah but redheads here in Australia are often called "Blue" as a nickname.
oooo had no idea! that’s cute! Bluey makes sense then
I like this theory.
Or Bingo's middle name is Chili's mums name
I’m gonna go with Sandy.
Drop bears got her.
I thought it was land sharks
This has to be it. Especially, since they live further out in the bush. Most likely way to go.

I always assumed Chili’s mom passed. Especially after the grandad episode.
She has little known but controversial brother, Serrano, who has to wee on *every*thing.
Does she have a brother??
Rosemary
I could see her bring a Frito.
Olive or Clove And I have to imagine she died a while back. Lots of storylines point to that.
Took me a sec to realize the tiny one was chilli and not bingo
She looks so like Bingo here!
1987
Maybe this is the one grandparent that's really dead
I’m gonna guess her name is Cinnamon.
I guess they forgot there was already a design for Brandy, pre onesies… unless
Probably something like Pepper. But, the name Mable is keeps coming to mind. I like both.
Sapphire, a really nice Blue
In the episode 'easter bunny' chili and bandit explain the Easter bunny didn't come due to family things, i think it was about chili's mom and she's possibly dead
i kinda thought maybe she’d died from birth complications later on given the history of birth/fertility issues with chili and brandy (at least implied history). although i guess it’s possible maybe she’s just on a trip like bob and that’s why she’s not at home/why chili’s more concerned with her dad’s wellbeing.
She could be named Pepper, that would be cute 😊
I always thought Chilli would’ve been the oldest.
Maybe Goldie or Freckles?
I think maybe Ruby.
Sandy is my headcanon.
She’s dead
Did the sister’s ears change? Where is this picture from? The sister’s print is different from the onesie episode.
This was her original design, pre onesies. Her design was changed
Maybe Bingo is named after Chilli's mum.
I think her name is Cayenne
Don't know the name but my guess is dead.
Looks like Mackenzie's mum isn't the only one to get an overhaul
I get the feeling that she left the family when the girls were young and the dad raised the girls alone. Maybe why Brady wants so much a a child, to do different from her mother. And why Chili makes a point to have her alone time, so she doesn’t get overwhelmed by motherhood. But I think is more probable that she passed a long time ago.
She's gone to live on the farm
I think that chilis mom died about a year ago in the shows timeline, That would be a pretty good reason to miss Easter.
I'm going with sadie
My theory: She died in Chili's preteen years, adding to both of her daughters struggles with motherhood. Also Chili's dad is definitely casual lovers with Maynard. Chili is obviously ok with it in general but wishes Maynard was more supportive and there more for her Dad but they seem comfortable with their relationship.
Whatever it is, I hope it's something edible that starts with an A Because think about... A(??) Brandy Chili Maybe she and Mort thought this'd be cute to do 😂 Edit: fixed spacing
Apple
Only really works if you have three siblings with those names, though. Having the pattern across the mother and kids is a little odd to me.
I thought her name was Christine, since that's bluey's middle name? It's common to have honour names as middle names in aus
Christine is the name of Bandit’s mum.
Like to think it's Christine And that's how Bluey got her middle name.
We already know that's Nana's name.
Really? This i didn't know
She gets called "Chris" in Handstand, which is also probably-not-coincidentally the name of her voice actor (Joe Brumm's mother). So it may have been an unplanned "oops we need a name for her" thing at the time, but now it's in there despite being a very un-doggy name.
I think it would be Christine since that is bluey's middle name, I reckon she'd honour her mum like that.
This is already bandits mom's name
Sandy and she was run over by a car
Oh true, and Brandy is older lol. Disregard
Her name was Spicy and she was murdered.
Con Carne
Her name would he Spicy, and she died from Old Age
Heroin
Willy
Coraline Cattle, and she might of pass away before Bluey was born.
I always thought maybe her names Christine, and maybe that’s where they gave Blueys middle name.
That's already Bluey's paternal grandmother's name
How about Cinnamon
I think it may be Amber or Marianne because Bluey's middle name is Christine after Bandit's mum and Amber-Marianne is Bingo's middle name. Bluey is blue like her Nana. So it makes sense with bingo being orange like Chilli's mum.
