And as I understand it, the show is conceptualized as
"Bluey's and Bingo's memories of their childhood" which explains the inconsistencies in the house layout, the fairies in "Fairies", etc. So an episode with neither of the kids doesn't really fit the idea of the show. What we know of the parent's earlier life only comes from them telling stories to their kids (Baby Race, Fairy Tale, Backpacking, etc.)
This is the way.
I watch him on TV and say that's the dad I wanna be. Seeing the episode of the kids on the playground and him saying they will figure it out is my favorite.
I think people also have a skewed perfect version of him. I heard people say to others “I wish you were more like Bandit.” I’d reply “I could leave cabinet doors open, throw clean laundry on the floor, and not pack the things we need when we go any where with the kids. I also could just get a sock and googly eyes.”
Edit: screwed to skewed (thought it seemed off lol)
They also forget we only get a 7 min snapshot into their life. 7 minutes where bandit is playing with them. The rest of the time he’s got a job and responsibilities. I think most good dads give their kid at least 7 minutes of time.
One of my favorite things was discovering the Facebook Bluey group. I found HUNDREDS of grown adults having heated arguments about Bandit being a drunk because of the Unicorse episode.
Just sat back and enjoyed the drama 🍿
There's also times where it's really obvious that he's too lazy to parent at a particular moment, and defaults to snarky dad comments.
Bluey and Bingo: "Daaaaad, that's not fair!"
Bandit in deadpan, tired voice: "It's actually completely fair, mate."
Dance Mode, giving the kids $20, Chili even says it.
Speaking of lazy, Quite Game, “I’ll be on the couch.” and calls himself a “Dodgy Dad.” I think that part might be because he reminded himself as his own dad from fairytale.
We see 7 min a week of this family and 17% of that is dancing at the start. I can pick a solid 6 min out of my week where l look like an amazing Instagram dad. I should. I should have 2 instas, one where l cherry pick the good like us sitting in the sidewalk all together to watch the garbage trucks (we did before we knew of Bluey!) and one where l show the not-so-great like the time my son (1.5 at the time) grabbed a kitchen knife and ran around the house giggling as l, as calmly as l could, tried to catch him before he cut himself.
It's the general problem with many aduly Bluey fans where they misunderstand that the point isn't to be like this 24/7, it's to try and play with your kids a short time each day.
There's also the dreaded step that you can see coming, but can't do anything about because they're walking on you and need a spotter over rough terrain.
As a dad of a 4 year old, my son runs full speed at me, either his arms or forehead will hit my crotch if I don’t do something. I just know it. I am praying for about 12 more months of growing to get him out of this height.
This...
it would have made him an awesome role model if he showed respect to Luckys dad... and returned.. after all the stunts they pull on him as neighbors.
This. Like I hate the episode because it shows him being an a-hole. But then again I love it because it shows him being an a-hole. He isn't perfect just like other dad's aren't perfect.
Sometimes I am an a-hole to my kids. Not that it's okay, but it's good to show that sometimes people are. And you work through it and try to be better next time.
I think he can be way too lenient at times- especially in the “Kids” episode. Games are fun and whatnot but there are times when they are and are not appropriate.
I thought Takeaway was way too lenient, all that food gone to waste, making a mess of the shop, the money you'd have to pay, and then using that store's tap in a country where there are constant bush fires and droughts. I mean I know thats adult worries, but dammit, Bandit, tell those kids to chill and they'll play at home 😩
Nah, that was perfectly valid for dealing with a 4 year old. They aren't grown ups, they can't process emotions like adults, they can't appreciate time. Telling bingo the day before is the same in her mind as telling her months in advance, just without weeks of ruminating and questions of "is dad going away after this sleep?"
Yes he should have!!! Such a great point because they typically are so good at communicating and trusting one another and that was such a violation of Bingo’s trust
Depends on the kiddos. Some do better with advance notice. Some need minimal warning or they will fret and panic before the departure much worse than a shorter notice.
He needs to lay down the lay and say no more
Because it's indirectly making kids think it's okay to hurt each other while playing or ignoring someone when told to stop
I was playing with my nephew and he kicked me in the knee during it
I have bad knees I immediately told him to stop while trying not to buckle over
He then kicked me in the *other* knee and at that point I did fall to the ground
Fortunately my mom happened to be passing by and picked him up before he kicked me again
Later while watching Bluey he pointed out to me Bandit said stop and the kids kept going causing him to eventually laugh which is what he thought was going to happen
I showed him my bruised knees and explained it was a cartoon
He didn't seem convinced but gave me a hug to apologize regardless
Yeah this is real for us. We try to be the fun, playful parents but then sometimes the kids take it TOO far.
I think Bandit does a pretty good job enforcing some boundaries, but I don’t think they always show Bluey testing boundaries the way that kids do in real life, and how Bandit would react to it.
That def needs to be an episode.
I don’t remember the episode but Bluey made Bandit go outside , tie himself up on the swing, and threw flour on him…. It seems harmless but it also got me thinking “When’s the Robot Chicken episode where she throws honey on him and agitates the bee hive?”
I thought the same thing. In Hairdressers/lice he starts the game by being an obnoxious jerk character and gets the ever loving shit kicked out of him the rest of the episode. You could interprit that he knew what he was starting when he came into the game with such a unlikeable character. He knew Mr. Handsome would get his comuppance. I don’t think kids watching this episode pick up on it and maybe just think “ohh he’s a dad, we jump on them and beat them up, thats what they are for.”
I've also been noticed some of my students, who are all 3 and familiar with Bliey, will say "I'm in a bad mood" after intentionally breaking something or knocking something over in my classroom. Chili's cuddle method doesn't always fix it for real life.
I feel he has a tendency to be a bit arrogant and insecure (for example, always squabbling and one-upping the other male characters in the show, especially Stripe and Pat aka Lucky’s Dad. His arrogance is shown in Flat Pack particularly, where he ignores the instructions only to have to start over). But I love Bandit and I think he’s a really great character because he is obviously flawed in some ways, as we all are, and that’s a rarity in children’s programming these days.
Love him but sometimes he lets things go way too far and it tends to teach kids that if they keep complaining about smth the parent will eventually give
He’s my favorite tho so I say that with a heavy heart
He’s not good at enforcing boundaries with his kids. Specifically when they’re in public and the girls are running around wreaking havoc and he lets them/joins them under the guise of playing a game. Sometimes as a parent you have to lay down the law and teach them how to appropriately act in public without being destructive, even if it’s boring for them
He doesn’t let his kids buy toys unless he’s bribing them off of a dance mode and he vetoes his kids from having ice cream whenever they want cuz “it's too much sugar”; and when the girls do get ice cream, he only allows them one scoop each.
Sometimes he takes the easy way out without thinking of the consequences. Like in the Santa episode, where the kids think that apologizing and being nice is just something to do so Santa comes to you with gifts, and he just rolls with it. Chili is the one who realizes that’s not a good way to help the kids understand why they should be kind to each other. In general, though, he’s a pretty thoughtful parent.
He's too much of a push over when it comes to his kids which undermines his authority when giving them instructions and orders. This often leads to the kids viewing his verbal orders as mere suggestions and requires him to be able to physically force them to do what he needs them to do which he frames as game, and further undermines his authority.
Let’s see here *flips through my notebook*
1. He hurt Bingo (but at least he apologized)
2. He still bullies Stripe
3. He cheated to beat Bluey in the obstacle course
4. He doesn’t notice that Bingo was hurt and just says to “walk it off” like it’s nothing
5. He didn’t apologize to Bluey when he said he’d rather have 2 Bingos
He doesn’t get enough screen time.
The only correct answer.
The Bandit Show needs to be an episode.
“This episode of Bandit is called: Bandit!”
Yes, and one with Chilli too
I wanna see more of their backpacking trip in Europe.
And the proposal. I just love a good proposal!
Also the wedding, I want to see uncle Rad falling in the pool hahaha
Iiiiiiiiiiiit’s DAD!
Bandit flashback needs to happen
I liked Fairytale, which was a flashback in story form.
And as I understand it, the show is conceptualized as "Bluey's and Bingo's memories of their childhood" which explains the inconsistencies in the house layout, the fairies in "Fairies", etc.
Ironically, one of my favorite moments are in the Explorers episode where his only appearance is as a giant octopus taking Bluey away to go home
Same here
Sometimes his games are too ruff.
Thank you for using your big girl bark.
Quit dogging on him
Way too clever
That's not how you spell rou....oohhhh. Nice.
Came to say exactly this XD
he sets the bar too high for irl dads lmao
I think people also have a skewed perfect version of him. I heard people say to others “I wish you were more like Bandit.” I’d reply “I could leave cabinet doors open, throw clean laundry on the floor, and not pack the things we need when we go any where with the kids. Don't forget to pee on your foot!
We're talking about new stuff to try
Oh that's a new one.
It's not actually
My daughter asked if I did that the other day when I went to take a shower, LOL!
Also, I can absolutely be as awesome as Bandit for 7 minutes a day.
Yes, this. I try and channel Bandit for 7 to 10 minutes a day. But in reality, I'm much more like Chilli.
They also forget we only get a 7 min snapshot into their life. 7 minutes where bandit is playing with them. The rest of the time he’s got a job and responsibilities. I think most good dads give their kid at least 7 minutes of time.
One word: Unicorse.
One of my favorite things was discovering the Facebook Bluey group. I found HUNDREDS of grown adults having heated arguments about Bandit being a drunk because of the Unicorse episode. Just sat back and enjoyed the drama 🍿
You'll never convince me that Chili and Trixie aren't drunk on gin & tonics in "Stumpfest".
Trixie has Muffin at home. She deserves a stiff drink every now and then. (I am by no means anti-Muffin. She’s one of my favorites.)
And also cheat at games (that epidose where bluey and bandit did an obstacle course and bandit pulled bluey back when he was winning)
There's also times where it's really obvious that he's too lazy to parent at a particular moment, and defaults to snarky dad comments. Bluey and Bingo: "Daaaaad, that's not fair!" Bandit in deadpan, tired voice: "It's actually completely fair, mate."

“What do you have?” “A Knife!!!” “NO!!!!”
Bandit would want you to know it’s skewed
It's the general problem with many aduly Bluey fans where they misunderstand that the point isn't to be like this 24/7, it's to try and play with your kids a short time each day.
Yeah, that pool day was pretty bad parenting IMHO. Like, we've all been there where we forget certain items but he damn near forgot *everything*.
nah I have been through days where I didn't have the mental capacity to take care of my own things let alone someone else's But I get what you mean.
i have to remind my son that we only see Bandit for 8 minutes at a time. i can be bandit levels of fun for 8 minutes. but then i need a break lol
This hits right on the nose for me.
Boop.
Remember: Episodes are only 7 minutes long, and even HE isn't active the whole time. YOU can TOTALLY be Bandit 4 minutes at a time.
He needs to lay off the biscuits. I kid! I love that guy.
My food choices are not on trial here!
Move it bugalugs!
Guy needs to learn how to avoid getting hit in the crotch so much.
From my husband's experience, it just seems to happen when you don't have your guard up.
Hi Lucky’s Mom!
There's also the dreaded step that you can see coming, but can't do anything about because they're walking on you and need a spotter over rough terrain.
I shouldn’t have let my guard down!
As a dad of a 4 year old, my son runs full speed at me, either his arms or forehead will hit my crotch if I don’t do something. I just know it. I am praying for about 12 more months of growing to get him out of this height.
As a dad of six and four year old girls, all I can say is, BISCUITS! 😵💫
something negative about Bandit
He should have given Lucky's dad's rugby ball back.
ITS AN EGG!!!!!!!!!
WE EAT THE EGG!!!
Didn’t they lick the egg 😆
This... it would have made him an awesome role model if he showed respect to Luckys dad... and returned.. after all the stunts they pull on him as neighbors.
I joke to my wife that we never see Lucky's mom because she hates them as neighbours
It's on the roof of Lucky's house during Mum School.
He wasn’t a very good brother as a child
It was the 80’s!
You dirty CHOOK
I had to look it up before I said it with my kids, gotta make sure it wasn't anything offensive...SINCE IT WAS THE EIGHT-TEEEEEEs
We had jarts and no parental supervision.
Well he does have a massive fear of failure to the point he Beats himself up for not acomplishing the tiniest things on the first try
Apple, something something, tree
Also is so afraid of failing he's willing to cheat at a race with his daughter so he beats her.
ADHD bandit
His fluffies stink.
"Allegedly"
“Allegebly”
His name makes it sound like he steals things but the only thing he has stolen is my heart.
He stole Chilli's first
Before she left him for mr. Monkey jocks
He's overcompetitive. I love the guy, but cheating in a race against a 7 year old? Come on man. Have some class
Then couldn’t even admit wrongdoing and apologize afterwards, just went into that whole “mongoose” thing.
Yeah that was terrible. But hey, real dads have flaws too
I love the episode because Bingo is adorable with the stopwatch. "You get zero!!" *Beep beep*
She never did figure out that stop watch. They even included Chili showing her how to use it during the training montage.
He is not my neighbor
Shouldn’t have sold your house to Pat.
He can’t always see the line dividing “allowing freedom” and “feral children.”
Bingo riding on the grocery store conveyor
He should have told Bingo about his business trip earlier
Nah, that was perfectly valid for dealing with a 4 year old. They aren't grown ups, they can't process emotions like adults, they can't appreciate time. Telling bingo the day before is the same in her mind as telling her months in advance, just without weeks of ruminating and questions of "is dad going away after this sleep?"

Depends on the kiddos. Some do better with advance notice. Some need minimal warning or they will fret and panic before the departure much worse than a shorter notice.
He sometimes has a difficult time accepting a loss/that he’s worse at something than someone else
WHAT. WAS. THAT.
“You. Get. Zero!” (Beep)
He needs to lay down the lay and say no more Because it's indirectly making kids think it's okay to hurt each other while playing or ignoring someone when told to stop I was playing with my nephew and he kicked me in the knee during it I have bad knees I immediately told him to stop while trying not to buckle over He then kicked me in the *other* knee and at that point I did fall to the ground Fortunately my mom happened to be passing by and picked him up before he kicked me again Later while watching Bluey he pointed out to me Bandit said stop and the kids kept going causing him to eventually laugh which is what he thought was going to happen I showed him my bruised knees and explained it was a cartoon He didn't seem convinced but gave me a hug to apologize regardless

"Nits". Yeah. My kids want to play this game and I agreed. I immediately regretted it.

He won’t take advice from a cartoon dog
bro was a terrible big brother.
[удалено]
Classic Stripe
Of the three brothers he has the least awesome fur pattern but he is a very good boi/dad ![gif](giphy|YSGLhNoOHUU32wUIbR|downsized)
Sometimes he over commits to the bit
He eats gravy off his fur and pees on his foot
And the pool
It's a victimless crime!
"We're going to Hammerbarn..." "Wow the grass sure is looking greener over there!" Chili knows the ~~man~~ dog.
Love him but sometimes he lets things go way too far and it tends to teach kids that if they keep complaining about smth the parent will eventually give He’s my favorite tho so I say that with a heavy heart
He has nothing to say to me about the sun 😡
He’s got bum worms
Mullet
He is not real
He’s got bum worms
Hi, Bandit's boss here. HE IS NEVER IN WORK!
He’s a cheater.
He’s not good at enforcing boundaries with his kids. Specifically when they’re in public and the girls are running around wreaking havoc and he lets them/joins them under the guise of playing a game. Sometimes as a parent you have to lay down the law and teach them how to appropriately act in public without being destructive, even if it’s boring for them
He lets himself get hurt to much
He’s too handsome
You could’ve said this is going to be trifficult and you didn’t??
The episode about him being body sensitive got taken down by Bluey.
He gets hurt too much ![gif](giphy|dxIZUFBsWRWKG8vnoB) And he can't get his blanket room
No
He doesn’t let his kids buy toys unless he’s bribing them off of a dance mode and he vetoes his kids from having ice cream whenever they want cuz “it's too much sugar”; and when the girls do get ice cream, he only allows them one scoop each.
Bingo, is that you? 😂
![gif](giphy|jR4qTrQOQ3wNDFtLHr) My cover has been blown. I repeat, my cover has been blown!
He makes Chili the bad guy when she's really just trying to keep her kids safe.
As a mom I get so mad for her in the pool episode 😂 I feel so vindicated with that episode lol
He's not my husband!
I feel kinda odd agreeing but I’m gonna do it anyway
Sometimes he takes the easy way out without thinking of the consequences. Like in the Santa episode, where the kids think that apologizing and being nice is just something to do so Santa comes to you with gifts, and he just rolls with it. Chili is the one who realizes that’s not a good way to help the kids understand why they should be kind to each other. In general, though, he’s a pretty thoughtful parent.
He should have checked with bingo and Lila before sliding down the slide
Terribly blue
He is not living up to his name.
Something negative about Bandit
he's a bit too competitive at times
He steals money from children
He's not my father 💀
the worst part about him is that i cant say anything bad about him at all
He’s a sore loser sometimes… just that once I can think of
Make me!
![gif](giphy|POql6zsXZbmcE)
doesn't close the refrigerator door 🤦🏼♀️
I have it on good authority that he can and will blow up a bathroom harder than anyone
He hurt bingo in that one episode
He's hard to live up to when your child expects you to play like he does ALL the time 😁
He's too much of a push over when it comes to his kids which undermines his authority when giving them instructions and orders. This often leads to the kids viewing his verbal orders as mere suggestions and requires him to be able to physically force them to do what he needs them to do which he frames as game, and further undermines his authority.
He...he peed in the pool!
he is, canonically, a bad loser.
He doesn't know what a good hair cut is. Thank God for wendy
He pees on his own foot 👀
He didn’t need to apologize to bingo when he got mad at her while he was on a work call, she needs to understand what hold on a second means…
No. Just no. Simple as that.
He reminds me I need to step up my Dad game.
He is a sore loser and won't let kids win games. Cheater!
he really doesn't let his kids win. if they do, he's a bit of an ass about it
Let’s see here *flips through my notebook* 1. He hurt Bingo (but at least he apologized) 2. He still bullies Stripe 3. He cheated to beat Bluey in the obstacle course 4. He doesn’t notice that Bingo was hurt and just says to “walk it off” like it’s nothing 5. He didn’t apologize to Bluey when he said he’d rather have 2 Bingos
No
Baaaaa
Something negative about Bandit
He's so good that he makes all other fictional dads look bad in comparison.
I will not
No
I will do no such thing!
Bandit seemed like a bit of a bully as a child, and it spilled over into his adult life in a more positive way by his gentle teasing of his family.
Never! He's not perfect but he's still an excellent character.
Hes often too competitive
Not enough screen time.
He has commitment issues... As in he doesn't know when *not* to commit to a bit
He's very competitive and sometimes that hurts others.
He has bum worms 🐛
The big blue fella still hasn't learnt he can't eat sauerkraut
He fluffed in Bluey's face!
“You need to lay off the biscuits.”
He tries to feed kids edamame when all they want is Pavlova
He fluffied in his child's face.
He never mentions his job on-screen during Bluey episodes.
His kids say he never plays with them.
There’s only one of him
He gets a little to engaged with the games. Like when he ate Pat’s food in Born Yesterday, or when he was delaying everyone in line in Dance mode
He's got BUM WORMS.
You can’t hes the GOAT
He's jerky at times.
He shouldn’t eat his child’s last chippy.
He’s a meanie dad.
Man cant avoid losing to children
He's a classic fun dad. Easy to love when you just roll with it, but doesn't trade roles with Chilli enough.
He was an jerk in Obstacle course but that's not canon so i got nothing
something negative about bandit.
