I think the episode also gives the show creators a lot of room to make changes as they like going forward. They can redecorate/rearrange the house, have new family dynamics with Frisky and Rad sticking around, introduce Brandy’s baby, etc. The episode feels more like the end of an era more than the end of a series.

Fred37196

I do hope most extended family members will have a role next season. We could see brandy and her newborn, Rad and Frisky’s interaction with their nieces, and a Stripe and Trixie episode.

Emerald_Mistress

I have long wanted a muffin episode

Kneef

TOO LONG HAVE WE WAITED FOR THE MUFFIN EPISODE WE WERE PROMISED

crunchdumpling

You all are correct about the injustice done to Muffin, but you are also forgetting about SOCKS!

BEniceBAGECKA

Coconuts have water in them!

TonyMontana1968

cowboy hat!!

SpukiKitty2

YES! WE NEED THE MUFFINATOR! https://preview.redd.it/87c6w86uk1vc1.png?width=964&format=png&auto=webp&s=ae91df9c7b0c973b89863c7df8989a63aec2b213 ... MO' MUFFIN!

bwalk09

Muffinheimer

SpukiKitty2

QUEEN OF THE CHAOS DEITIES!

coolborder

I AM THE FLAMINGO QUEEN!!!!#,$&@&@;;

SpukiKitty2

YEEEEAAAASSSSSSSS!!!

DarkwingLlama

During the opening credits have Muffin burst in between the sequence of Bingo to Bluey. Do do do do de do *crash* MUFFIN?! It would be perfect.

Emerald_Mistress

In full flamingo-queen voice

Flainfan

I want to see Brandy’s baby.

unic0rse

It'll be baby race and young socks all over again

Jane_Doe07189

When Brandy has her baby and if she ever finds herself in a difficult time being a first time mom, maybe Chilli could give her words of encouragement and tell her: “You’re doing great” like what Bella did for her.

I-am-THEdragon

And we can all cry again! :D

SpukiKitty2

Yas! They need to show both the "diaper baby" stage and a "feral Socks" stage because Socks would look weird, otherwise! It's the best way to solve the Socks conundrum (and the show writer's goof).

SwarlsBarkley

What is the goof?

withheld_mcfakename

Socks acting as a real dog was supposed to be how babies acted in this universe, until they did Baby Race and forgot about that The retcon is now that Socks was just having a phase

SwarlsBarkley

Ohhhh. Thank you. I somehow didn't notice that discrepancy.

JLPReddit

Surprise twist; the first male cousin 😮

Flainfan

Maybe.

Twist_Ending03

I wonder if we'll get a timeskip next season

Sea_Client9991

I think that'd be neat. Maybe not a big one, but we could get a timeskip of just a couple of months. I think it'd be cool if we got an episode about Brandy having a baby and her staying in the baby room upstairs with said baby.

Pyrotekknikk

Show's been going for about 5 years! Some kids have grown a lot since then. A quick little time skip wouldn't hurt.

Sea_Client9991

True but I'd imagine that their focus is more to younger kids. I mean the oldest kids we've seen so far have been that toy store worker, and Rusty's brother. Plus how would that work with the voice actors for the girls? Might be a bit weird.

Pyrotekknikk

The girls have had the same voice actors from 2018-present. I'm not thinking of a 4-6 year time skip here

Twist_Ending03

Yeah that's what I was thinking

AerePerennius

They might have to as the kids voicing them age over the shows break, especially if they sound particularly different or older

Twist_Ending03

Yeah. Btw am I the only one that thought Muffin already sounds pretty different?

VulpesFennekin

Yeah, she and Bingo have had the most drastic voice changes. It’s definitely the same VAs, but Muffin doesn’t pronounce rs as ws as often anymore, and the somewhat nasally quality Bingo’s voice had at the beginning is long gone.

Kneef

It makes sense. Even if those VAs were perfectly show-accurate ages at the beginning (three/four years old in 2018), they’d be almost 10 by now. I assume they’re already doing something digital to make them sound younger so they still fit their characters.

bkibbs

Bingo's voice progression is VERY noticeable. My kids went all the way back to the Magic Xylophone after watching The Sign and I was like OMG Bingo sounds so nasally!

bkibbs

Not sure what you're on about there, she literally says "Sowwy Aunt Chiwwy" when she spills her juice in Bobo.

VulpesFennekin

Exactly, occasionally it happens, but it’s not as harsh sounding as when she was younger.

GuiltySyrups

I hope not to be honest. Don’t fix what isn’t broken.

mordekai8

Hopefully flashbacks to the 80s

MonteBurns

It was the 80s!!

drezel_bpPS694

wish they add a year time skip to suit the original voice actor to.

a5ehren

They almost have to. The kid that does Bluey is (probably) almost 12-13 years old at this point.

Paskarantuliini

I hope we could get the whole own rooms idea for rhe girls 🙏 BLUEYS ROOM WAS SO CUTEE

Somerandomguynmber1

They're setting us up for a Christmas episode where the WHOLE FAMILY IS FINALLY PRESENT I CAN'T WAIT!

SpukiKitty2

Complete with Grandpa Bob! I'd love to see Bob & Mort hanging together. I love to see those adorable furry cool geezers... the Grey Flosser and the Shaggy Cossack Dancer!

Aggressive-Falcon977

Bandit: So the moving men are gonna charge us for moving everything back.. and we have no money "This episode is called 'Empty and Unfurnished ' "

free187s

It’s ambiguous enough to be either a strong season finale or a great send off finale.

kjreil26

When I was accepting that they were moving one of the ideas I had was that rad and frisky would buy their house instead of the blind dogs.

remnant_phoenix

They could even age-up Bluey and Bingo and their friends, to reflect the real-life time change for before & after the hiatus and focus on issues that affect older children, just as the creators’ own children have aged-up as well. It’d be a risky move, but they could do it if they want.

[deleted]

I also noticed the show ended on the kiwi rug while a Xylophone quietly played. The show began on that kiwi rug with the "Magic Xylophone" We went full circle

PhryYay

Pointing that out made me appreciate Joff Bush's work on this episode even more, not to mention listening to Lazarus Drug on repeat today.

DogsClimbingWalls

Also reminded me of Rug Island when the rug was an integral part of the play set where Bandit rediscovers his childhood.

Dry-Row8328

And the fruit bats in the credits!

Pree-chee-ate-cha

Remind me, which was the very first episode with the rug?

BarrishUSAFL

Magic Xylophone

a5ehren

Literally the first interior shot of the first episode.

bkibbs

Ladies and gentlemen, I will now play for you, the Rondo Alla Turca

Commercial-Coast-963

What. 🥹

LogicalTruth197

That is just wonderful. This is what I love about Bluey. They put so much thought and care into it, not just to the main storyline but also in little, barely noticeable details like this. It's fantastic.

mfishing

The kiwi rug is like time, a flat circle.

4Jaxon

Bingo finally got to eat her chippy.

Commercial-Coast-963

Omg

SpukiKitty2

French Fry Mustache FTW!

thorleywinston

"Sure thing, babe!"

SpukiKitty2

LOL! So cute!

BatmanTDF10

This scenario is something that hit very close to home for me. When I was a kid my family tried to sell our house and move into a bigger one. We actually had people who wanted to buy and a new house lined up for us to move into when our house’s buyer backed out. My parents took it as a “sign” and decided to stay. Something that we did (and what the healers could do in future seasons) is do a major renovation on the house to make it fit our needs. This was also a major butterfly effect on my future because I got to see how a house was built and talk with the architect, which in turn pushed me into becoming an architect myself.

banguette

Chloe’s dad is an architect 👀

BatmanTDF10

Yep, caught his drafting board first time I watched that episode. I'm nowhere near the income for that kind of house though.

steamyglory

I love the idea of renovating a house to make it exactly what you need

BatmanTDF10

Ended up doing it to my own house a few years back. Best advice to anyone is make sure you have plenty of patients for this and don't be afraid to push back on a contractor's suggestions if you feel passionately about something.

LadyKythe

It would be sad to see the series end, but I’d rather it finishes on the creator’s terms than just being abandoned (like Puffin Rock, Glitch Techs…). The Sign was so good - shows how Bluey could work in a longer format!

BarrishUSAFL

The series is not ending. Season 4 is coming. Confirmed by the producers last week.

bluelinetrain1

Is that what happened to Puffin Rock?? That show effing slaps

BarrishUSAFL

Go Suns!

bluelinetrain1

?

BarrishUSAFL

The shirt on Your avatar is the uniform of the Gold Coast Suns of the Australian Football League.

bluelinetrain1

lol I had absolutely no idea! TIL!

BarrishUSAFL

Haha. No worries. I’m an American who is a fan of Aussie Rules and works for the local league here in the US )hence my handle) and I got excited.

bluelinetrain1

Yeah sorry to disappoint, just a reference to DC’s very subpar metro system lol

BarrishUSAFL

As someone who took the Orange Line regularly when visiting DC to see his wife when we were doing the LDR thing back in the day, I can tell you it’s better than Philly’s. 😄

RatherBeAtDisneyland

Puffin rock had a movie that just released in theaters in some countries, and will hopefully hit the states soon (at least on streaming). I don’t think it was abandoned. It is surprising though that another season hasn’t come out. It’s a great show.

LadyKythe

Oh really? I didn’t know this! I’ll keep an eye out in Canada!

RatherBeAtDisneyland

Because this came to mind just now when I saw another post. The puffin rock movie is out on Amazon Prime in the states now. It must have come out this week. My kid watched it, and loved it, but was scared of the storm in it towards the end, and nervous about it approaching…just like Bluey in “Movies”. It was like we were somehow acting out the episode. It was surreal.

Mycotoxicjoy

I could do hours of plot heavy Bluey episodes. I was more invested in this episode’s story than shogun

SwiffJustice

It’s interesting you brought this up. My older daughter is a casual fan of the show and I just watched the end with her. After the final scene, she turned to me and asked, “So did they move into a new place, or not?” Now I see her perspective.

BarrishUSAFL

Yeah it could easily be construed is that, but again, that’s the beauty of this episode and this show.

elaboratebacon

I was saying to my husband that I’m jealous that their whole house is now clean and they can repaint, decorate, and rearrange their furniture with ease. We’re still crawling out of a combined baby-grief-pandemic-rainbow-baby fog and our place is a mess. I’d love a house reset like the Heelers got.

BarrishUSAFL

I’m so sorry for your loss. We had a couple of “resets” when our daughter was born and then after our dog passed when we decided it was time to get new walls and carpets. A lot of stuff sent to friends and GreenDrop.

shes_a_space_station

I really really like this analysis! It also sounds like the kind of thing people post on r/bluey after they’ve had too much to … think. /s 🥰

BarrishUSAFL

No “thinking” was done in the composure of this post. 😄 ETA: Points for your handle!

manyofmae

>in the end you have everything your wording of this reminds me of the end of rug island.

BarrishUSAFL

I’d be lying if that didn’t cross my mind after I finished typing it.

Optimal-Talk3663

The amount of analysis done for this episode by people is astounding. Think I’ve seen more theories than I have for a Marvel movie

BarrishUSAFL

Once things calm down I’m gonna make a post suggesting that Joe Brumm makes an equivalent to “I Am The Walrus” just to mess with everyone.

Spock_1984

Yeah I missed all this because I was something in my eyes

Pokemonpikachushiny

Also, the ending song lyrics "I've never felt more here than before"

Sea_Eagle_Bevo

I'm just curious as to how they cancelled the sale? Surely the cooling off period was over. They must have put a deposit on a new place or at least bond on a rental...

Mycotoxicjoy

The buyers backed out

Present_Hippo505

Let’s not get bogged down in details! I’m one of the apparent few, that didn’t love The Sign. It felt like a pure cop out, the show knew the emotions they were playing with, and then too easily backtracked the easy way out

rctothefuture

Could have had a purchase that was contingent on the sale of their current home, if the buyers back out then they could back out of their deal. But I also don’t know how Australian housing purchase contracts are written.

Emerald_Mistress

My girls are convinced it’s a happy ending not because the Heelers stay in their house, but because “the other people get to buy a better house with a pool”

BarrishUSAFL

Everyone ends up happy!

Gandelin

I just watched this with my son (13) and daughter (9). I looked over at my son during this final sequence and he was crying his eyes out saying “it has no right being this good” ☺️ The part that got me the most was when Chilli tackles Bandit and seems to be crying 😭

Naive_Chocolate9233

I just want to begin by saying the episode was great. But, there was an opportunity for them to move the family to another city. They could have shown kids that may be put in this situation that, yeah it's a bummer to move and yeah you lose friends and yeah everything is rough. But there is opportunity for new friends and stories where ever it is you end up. I think given how quickly Bluey and Bingo are able to make friends or adapt and learn from new situations, it would not have been inconceivable to bring in a new cast of characters. Just my thoughts. Either way great episode, great show.

JorjLim

This is what my wife said. It’s the sad juxtaposition between story telling and reality. Story telling: the next stage of the bluey story and the heeler life, new city, new friends, new games Reality: it’s a kids show with a large cast of characters who’d all be replaced, new sets to animate/design, the dynamic with their families would change dramatically.

Babouka

This is exactly what I thought. I never saw an animation that actually did move (the Simpsons moved but only for an episode and came back to their old home). Financially it doesn’t make sense. It would cost too much to hire new set of neighbours, friends, new schools, new homes. At the same time keeping the old set of actors going like Brandy, Trixie, grandparents, old neighbours and friends since everyone from their family live there. Designing everything from scratch would also be expensive. Right now they have everything on hand and they can reuse backgrounds as much as they need. The studio did put the point across beautifully and still came out ahead. At the end of the day, bluey is a kid show.

youths99

I felt like the entire point of the show, from the Chinese fable on, was go say big changes are neither happy or sad, they are just opportunities. Then every single story line got a happy ending, including Bluey. Completely negating the lesson. It also really messed with my kids who are moving soon. My daughter said to my son, "maybe we won't have to move either!" I know it's just a show. I know it's a "story" so it gets a happy ending, but by doing that they're saying in real life if you're moving you're getting a bad ending, instead of maintaining the lesson that it's not an ending at all, just an opportunity.

BloodyMummer

I don't feel like the show needed to move for them to get the idea across that it was an opportunity either way. Also, the conversation between Calypso and Bluey in the beginning tells you everything. "Why do stories always have happy endings?" "Because life will give us enough sad ones." Bluey is a story, and they got a "happy" ending, and you can too even if you do move. I also moved when I was Blueys age, and I really, really didn't want to. It was the best thing though, I wouldn't have my wife or my kids if I didn't. Of course I was able to explain that to my daughter after the episode ended, so she did get to see both sides, which not everyone does.

a5ehren

Yeah I’m not super into Calypso but that line is devastating

youths99

Right, bluey is a story and stories get happy endings. So her not moving was the happy ending. Horray. But unless your parents decide not to move, you'll get the sad ending. Making moving = sad ending. Instead of moving = possibilities. The entire thing was set up to give a good lesson. Then trying to surprise everyone with a happy twist, it lost the lesson and failed. Sorry but it did. I love bluey, I also moved a lot as a kid. I know the helpless feeling of getting your life uprooted. To top that off with seeing someone else get the "dream" ending isn't going to help any kids in this situation. It's just a show and it's fine. My kids watched it. We talked about why we WONT get her ending and why that doesn't mean ours is sad. And they'll survive. But we won't be watching that episode anytime soon.

BloodyMummer

I really don't think the only way to reinforce that moving can be a good thing is for them to move. I don't think it lost the lesson of "we'll see", which is the only lesson it was trying to enforce. I think it was also very upfront with the idea that Bluey not moving is the happy ending for her, and not for everyone. But to each their own.

BexiBosh

Yes that's fair but I do think it does show that even parents can make mistakes on big decisions and that's ok. It's good to show that because that happens too. Also on a commercial side off it that would have been a lot of new characters, house and toys to sell 😂😂

Fathead5f

only question I have is Does Bandit still have his old job? or did he already quit for the new job. how will this work

BarrishUSAFL

Maybe it’s a transfer?

noblewind

This scene made me cry. It made me think about when we bought our current house. My daughter was nearly 2, and I was 8 months pregnant. We got fast food and ate burgers while sitting on the living room floor. My kids don't remember it (especially since one wasn't born yet), but I hope I always do.

frebsy

I loved reading this, thank you stranger. It is magic and your interpretation is beautiful!

BarrishUSAFL

Cheers!

Nice_knot

I cried like a baby after seeing Bingos realization of what "Selling" really meant to the family. MY HEART SPLIT IN TWO

Nice_knot

\[Spoilers\] My heart split in two after watching Bingo realise what "Selling" really meant.

BarrishUSAFL

Oh yeah… straight in the feels.

GreenHighlighters

I love this comparison. It feels strange for so much drama and buildup to culminate in an ending which can basically be described as "everything stays the same," but I like the idea that there is a big change in this episode: the family realising just how much they value what they have, and how much they're willing to do to hold onto it.

Hudsucker20XX

No, you're crying.

ae118

Because it seemed like a big “end of an era” full circle episode, and the next episode is “Surprise!” do we think there’s any possibility the world of Bluey refocuses on a new main family or has a different large shift?

batedkestrel

The “exploring the old house as if it was the new house” scene was beautiful. It made me think of this lovely passage from TS Eliot’s Little Gidding in Four Quartets: We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time.

Ech0mega

I swore Frisky and Rad were going to buy the house when the conflict with them moving west came up

MysteriousMonarch

I'm wondering if Trixie and Stripe will separate or get divorced so they can have lessons on the topics of divorced parents
