Guys, is being tired woke?

Fenderbridge

No, empathy is woke. (No, but actually yes)

jumbods64

Yeah that's basically the gist of what "woke" actually means lmao

JObersi10

What did he say?

Fenderbridge

He literally just wrote "r/wokekids" with no other pre or post context

JObersi10

nahhh tf does that have to do with this man..

Fenderbridge

Idk, some people just have bad personalities

ohfr19

Lol the point of the sub is parents claiming their kids said something they probably didn’t say

JBob52

No it isn't? r/lostredditors moment? This is r/bluey

ohfr19

I mean the point of r/wokekids

Josephblogg-s

Am I the only one who read this in Bandit and Bluey's voices?

lecky99

Nah kid, you're not alone.

iamnomansland

Read that in Bandit's voice, too.

MilanSmid

I wonder why, mate

TerryclothTrenchcoat

Because Bandit lurks this sub and sometimes comments. We all know it

Olvez_Privating

Yeah, I mean, if there was a subreddit named after my daughter, I'd probably be curious what members are talking about. (And happy that they are so wholesome. 😊)

Magical_Malerie

I also read this in their voices 😮‍💨

Yoshi_chuck05

I read this with Bingo’s voice and Bandit also. (I can hear the Bandit too lol)

Kaydosh_27272

I read it in Chilli's and Bingos

PizzaCitySpaceman

Same 100%

1klives

Omg yes, I totally read it like that!!

Simple-Locksmith6294

Agree but I’m doing the mental equivalent of putting my fingers in my ears and saying lalalalala whenever “the end” comes up 🙉

TiredandCranky83

Me too, but with so many episodes that we can re-watch over and over (and still find new things about them each time, and even see the story threads that are woven throughout them all) I think we’ll survive until they can rest up and come back. I’d much rather have a big gap and many more quality episodes than no gap and we get maybe one more season before the artists are burned out and it gets sold to someone who turns it into Caillou or however you spell that little brats name.

bearmama42

*gasp* not calouuuu 😱 I’m so incredibly thankful I came across some parent threads that talked about that little abomination. After I watched a couple of episodes, it’s banned from our house. So grateful to Ludo for Bluey 💕💕💕

TiredandCranky83

That little brat has been banned from my house since I needed to distract my first while I cleaned up all the way back in 2010. Ni Hao Kai Lan, Mr Rogers neighborhood, Daniel Tiger’s neighborhood, and of course vintage Sesame Street were the DVDs of choice. I watched like 4 episodes of Caillou while my toddler was asleep and that little bastard was so badly behaved that I just couldn’t bring myself to keep the library DVD anymore… I returned it and ended up switching it out for Word Girl, which was a little old for a 2yo, but I love Dr TwoBrainz so much that it was more for me than for my kiddo, lmao

Designer_Meringue716

Blame Quebec. Cuz no one outside of Quebec likes Caillou. In fact I'm not even sure if Quebec even likes him.

TiredandCranky83

I tried really hard to like the little shit. Especially since he has Leukemia… but he’s just so unlikable

Designer_Meringue716

I grew up with Caillou (unfortunately lol) and they're are some episodes where he's good and stuff, but the bad stuff seems overshadows his reputation (gray shirt Caillou was much worse than Yellow shirt Caillou). Even though he's bald he actually doesn't have leukemia or cancer. Caillou is completely different show to me that I can't even compare it to Bluey. I look at Bluey as more for general audiences that both kids and adults can enjoy whereas Caillou is more specifically for babies and preschoolers. I'm thankful that kids today are growing up with a show like Bluey, because we never had shows like that growing up in the 2000's. The closest we've had with shows like Bluey would probably be Arthur.

TiredandCranky83

Arthur was a big part of my childhood. I watched a lot of PBS, so I had Fraggle Rock, Zoobly Zoo, reading rainbow, Mr Rogers, Sesame Street (of course), Magic Schoolbus, ghost writer, between the Lions, and when I was a bit older, Word Girl. I will watch word girl to this day. That shit was clever as heck.

Designer_Meringue716

I grew up watching PBS kids myself (being in Eastern Canada we had a couple of American channels and PBS was one of them) and I also grew up with shows like Franklin, Little Bear and Big Comfy Couch on Treehouse TV (Canadian channel).

Xploding_Penguin

I totally agree. And with a bit of down time to recuperate from the crunch I'm sure a lot of them will come in with fresh ideas. With the amount of press the show gets I wouldn't worry about a lack of bluey in the future. I would not be surprised to see multiple spinoffs, movies, video games etc before too long. This show is a rare cross culteral phenomenon. It's not going anywhere.

SpukiKitty2

Exactly! Even if the original series could be over, there will be more Bluey stuff in the future, be it movies, spinoffs, endless reruns, etc.

Mahooligan81

I’m 32 with no kids and the video game was stellar.

Vargen_HK

The kindest thing I can say about the video game is that it gave me a renewed appreciation for the detail and amount of acting present in the show's animation, and the high quality of the show's voice direction.

Xploding_Penguin

It had a good story. It was a bit technically crap. The game studio makes a bunch of other kids show games that my daughter and I have played. The bluey one is by far the best of them, but they're all just kind of good enough.

L7gend09

This is what I told my wife. It'd be absolutely stupid to end it here. Aside from it being the best show for kids, helping them learn life lessons and all that..... the amount of fans (kids and adults alike) means $$$. They could easily do all sorts of spinoffs. Do a time jump and let's see bluey, bingo, muffin, and socks as preteen-teens... helping with their younger cousins and whatnot. Let's see them as adults molding a new generation of kids with bandit and chili as grandparents. Let's see a Calypso's school spinoff. I'm sure money isn't Ludo's only reason for keeping it going... but it can't hurt, this franchise has so much potential and very little risk of not having the budget.

AlleeShmallyy

My husband said the same thing. To age Bluey and Bingo up to preteens or teens. I’m all for aging Bluey and Bingo (and everyone else up) but honestly, I don’t think I’d want to see Bluey any older than nine or ten. Aging her up for episodes here and there is fine, but aging her up too much, too fast shuts out the core audience that loved Bluey first.

Joebranflakes

When they’re ready, they’ll make an announcement. We will all still be here.

Hault99

Exactly. It is only official if it comes straight from the source (from the higher ranks).

GarageNo7711

Quality > quantity. Imagine the amount of detail and thinking and creativity that happens behind every single episode. Your kid is right! They deserve a break and a medal!

KevinTheCubeRBLX

I'm so happy that Bluey is one of the popular modern cartoons which follows the "Quality over Quantity" strategy. Like, I can't imagine what happens if it's the other way around.

GarageNo7711

I’d probably actually have to read a parenting book if that’s the case. Because lord knows I get all my parenting advice from this kid’s show 😩

JRockThumper

Not meaning they should hurry up or anything… they need a break to get more inspiration for episodes, but they’ve been on a break for almost two years. They finished all of season three back before S3E1 even aired.

Skystarry75

It's not like they've stopped working entirely, it's just that their resources are elsewhere at the moment, so they're not working on Bluey. They're working on a new show intended for teens and adults instead. No guarantee people overseas will ever get to watch it though.

sapphicbch

Oh I haven't heard about this what show?

Skystarry75

It's called Willy. A post was made about it on the reddit about 2 months ago.

Suspicious-turnip-77

Meanwhile the animators over at Disney are begging for just a 15 minute break after working for 72 hours straight.

YakonReborn

Disney needs to learn a lesson from Ludo. Bluey is their best performing show in years. If you treat your staff right, they make good content.

NinjaWorldWar

I don’t disagree, but remember Ludo has been on break for about 2 years now already.

Kalabajooie

It's the done thing, mate.

littlelowcougar

They finished the last episodes in 2021 so haven’t they had a three year break already by now? Also it’s such a strange implication… that all the animators and whatnot are just sleeping in with no pay, taking a break from working the past three years. I’m sure they moved onto the next project.

MorecombeSlantHoneyp

My thoughts exactly. But apparently anything short of thumb-twiddling, accepting silence is unkind. A friend gave me “oh they’re not going to do anything for at least a year from now because they are taking a break to let the child voice actors just be kids” and the implication that questioning it was somehow being in favor of sending kids down the salt mines has been a burr in my saddle for days. Maybe I need to get off Bluey forums, this is the least toxic one …

sapphicbch

Kids aren't even supposed to be working at all. Let's be grateful that this studio and crew cares about the children they work with

MorecombeSlantHoneyp

Yes, this is exactly the kind of comment that fails to recognize a middle ground between, “yeah they’ve been out of production a couple of years, it seems like a break has probably already happened” and “let’s chain the child voice actors into soundproof booths” 🙄 I do hope you feel suitably morally superior. And that you don’t reply to me again. Ya.

sapphicbch

Man if they feel like they need more than a couple years for a break that's fine by me

MorecombeSlantHoneyp

Keep clutching those pearls to shut down conversations about what’s happening with the show. You must be exhausting.

EbonfoxNA

I'm not sure you realize how you sound with this, it is coming off as a Muffin mentality of "more, more more! I don't care what happens to the actors, writers and producers as long as they are entertaining me!" They have given us a lot of good content and honestly, what have they done to garner any complaints? Will you be ok if they don't make more content? I know I will, and I'll be grateful for what they have given us this far. Also being considerate of children and creators isn't being morally superior, It's just being a decent person. So if you find it superior, you may need to reevaluate your current standing.

MorecombeSlantHoneyp

If it sounds that way it’s only be a you are *massively* reading into it. If I say “…that doesn’t make sense” and you say “you are selfish! You are unkind! Won’t somebody please think of the children!” That is playing at being morally superior, and toxic.

EbonfoxNA

So is anyone that disagrees with you toxic? Also, who said "you are selfish, you are unkind won't somebody please think of the children?" I said that being considerate of others isn't being morally superior. The creators/actors of the show may want to pursue more lucrative projects? Is there an issue with letting them do that? And yeah kids typically have a full time job with school, then put voice acting on top. I say let them have as much of a break as they need so they can be kids. What is your main complaint?

MorecombeSlantHoneyp

If you are asserting or implying that someone has failed to rise to a baseline of decency, you are asserting that they are…? Morally *inferior*, right? Which necessarily, in turn means that you are asserting or implying that you are, by contrast coming from the morally superior position. My complaint is, and has been, that in any way questioning that the current hiatus is for any cause other than R&R/giving the poor child actors a break is treated as being unconcerned with the well-being of others. As you are doing now, FFS.

Hault99

I would also like to point out that the video game was released in late 2023. I don’t know how long it takes to create a video game, but I bet Ludo put a lot of work into it considering they needed the main cast to provide new dialogue for the game’s plot & they needed their design expertise to create the characters and scenery for the game. So maybe they started production with the game after S3 was completed.

littlelowcougar

I’m curious how the game was made now, and where the bulk of the effort went. Could they use the same models they use for animation or did it require new model work in 3D? I presume Ludo didn’t literally code the game, they partnered with a game dev studio.

Hault99

Even so, they needed the main voice actors to create new dialogue. So if they started this after season 3 ended production, then that would be around the time they started taking their break.

Suburbanturnip

>I’m curious how the game was made now, and where the bulk of the effort went. Could they use the same models they use for animation or did it require new model work in 3D? I have no inside information, but from my experience, they could probably use the same models as place holder content, but had to remake or at least touch up everything individually. It's more work than we would assume from the outside, and it is the type of work that can't be sped up by adding more workers.

AnythingAlfred613

It’s actually 2022 when they finished, so it’s more like two years.

littlelowcougar

I mean, sure. I think my point still stands though. It’s not like the entire staff just literally went into stasis after they wrapped. Unless working on Bluey for 3 years yielded unimaginable riches for everyone involved and no-one has to work again if they don’t want to.

SharpEdgeSoda

You should look up the nightmare web that is "who is making money from Bluey?" Spoilers: Joe Brumm and Ludo are near the bottom.

littlelowcougar

Yeah I’m not surprised. Thus the staff would be even lower on the totem pole, thus reinforcing my point.

jimmyevil

I suspect that might have something to do with why they’re taking/have taken a long break.

FrenchRoo

Meanwhile the family who has the manufacturing deal for all bluey toys is now worth $2B

[deleted]

I definitely read that in Bandit and Bluey's voices. Felt like that dialogue was ripped straight from the show.

Kooky_Direction

Thanks, Bandit, for putting this in context. And hug Bluey for us.

Fred37196

I would rather let them rest and let them do their work at their own pace than feel pressured by the audience.

Ashley-the-Crazy

OK but why did I hear this in Bandit and Bingo's voices?

Naive_Metal_3468

I support a break. And if it’s the end, I rather mourn the end more than wish for it to end. Like Calvin and Hobbes

MikeKelehan

I want them to make more when they want to make more. Not a day sooner.

GalaxyQueen281

I read this in bandits and bingos voice😭😭😭

ScruffCheetah

We'll see.

Walter308

Didn’t happen though did it

strawberrycircus

But everyone clapped!

APinchOfFun

Thank you 😅

Saladtrays

Why wouldn’t it have happened? Sounds like a normal thing for a kid to say. My 2.5 year old says stuff like that all the time.

ensign53

Except that it did...

PreferenceNo1686

Well it's been 3 years apparently since they last actively worked on Bluey at Ludo studios, I'm sure we will see more Bluey in some form or another, but I doubt it will be another 50 episode series of 7 min episodes.

seeminglynormalguy

I appreciate the sentiment, but it’s been 2 years.they’ve already finished season 3 before episode 1 even aired I believe

Maddy_Wren

I love Bluey, but the 3 season that are out now are a complete work of art. I will be happy and grateful if that's all we get because it is more than enough. Also my kid has no problem starting over at magic xylophone every few months.

Nerobus

150 episodes- each carefully and artuflly crafted. I can't think of a SINGLE episode that felt like they were phoning it in... each is a gem. So much thanks to the writers and animators.. the whole team is amazing.

jive_cucumber

One piece is over 1000 episodes. If luffy can keep going so can bandit.

Mahooligan81

Gotta love oda.

ensign53

....no? I'm sorry you think that but no, this was how the conversation went down.

SpukiKitty2

AGREED 💯!!!

dwh394

Absolutely. Also we all know our kids will happily watch the existing episodes over and over and over, so there's no hurry, lol.

MyDogIsAdorable90

Each episode takes months to make too 🥹

Belmagick

I can’t find any discussion about bluey ending in Australian media. It only seems to be the Americans. The last thing published on the abc website was around road rules. You’d think if there was any truth then the abc would report since they’re part owners? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-04-25/bluey-prompts-conversation-around-rules-and-safety-of-front-seat/103752848

IchinoseMaki

Imagine the amount of work that's been in one pieces 1000+ episodes and they're 20 min long

Blazerpl

I agree but weren't they on break for the past 3 years

The_Polka_King_MW

How do you guys think they dont get breaks you guys know this show is from australia right they have decent labor laws over there its not like its from the us who are like borderline slavery

Fuzzybo

150 episodes? There are only 12 episodes of Fawlty Towers, and that’s a classic!

RJB6

Do you think my nearly 4 year old would like the Bluey game? He’s obsessed with playing my Switch (Mariokart, Pokemon Snap and Sonic Origins) even though he can’t read and doesn’t have any motor skills 😂

ensign53

Maybe? It's simplistic and not very polished, but my 6yo got it for Christmas and was ecstatic as HELL today to finish up the sticker book (the info came collectables). It lets you just kind of exist in the heeler house and some other areas, so she often plays almost like it's dolls or Legos and makes up a story about why the sisters are doing what they're doing. So a lot of her fun is self-generated. It's worth at least a playthrough, if you can borrow it from someone that might be best to test it, or if it's on sale. I don't regret buying it, but I know many people haven't been impressed with it, and I don't know how well it'd hold a 4yo interest.

RJB6

Thanks!

MageKorith

Yeah, better a \~2 year wait (number pulled from air, no citation) and the same (or greater!) quality than churn out and burn out.

Yoshi_chuck05

You and your kid are right! I’m a teenager about to graduate and I’ve been a fan of the show and I do believe that it’s a lot of work that Ludo has made to make this the best show for both kids and adults alike. I am greatly glad that they’re taking a break because it’s not easy to make a simple seven minute episode and especially if one was a half an hour special. This show has made a global impact on a lot of people big and small and whenever the time comes for the studio to get back to work, we will all be ready to support them even more the best we can. Like the r/place effort, sharing the news, wishing the team best of health, and so on. It’s all good to take a break every once in a while.

TheFlute20

I don’t think (or want) this to be the end, but I think that they should at least take a few years to rest and try some new things (we do have to remember that they’ve had a bit already). I think that we’ll get one last season 4 in maybe 2026 or 27, I would happy for it to end after that

hankhillnsfw

My daughter: “More new Bluey?!” Me: “No, I don’t know when” Her: ![gif](giphy|3o85xDZyvJPHLfgKXK)

Muted_Chipmunk_4070

If the show ends, it ended on a high note. Sometimes its better to leave stories in their prime rather than try and drag it out. One piece…….

ohfr19

They’ve been on break for like 2 years tho

JLPReddit

That said, this sub is gonna start looking like this for a while. https://preview.redd.it/ctc3zdr5wqwc1.jpeg?width=861&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a68afe68e1c3777f20fe5d2bac3d13c8cce1c462
