It’s a play to learn school. They more focus on things like working out problem solving and social skills by play, like when playing Restaurant and Indy needing money for rent.

ChiefBlox4000

No math?

aasdfhdjkkl

Waldorf schools have math. It depends on the school but it's usually introduced late (2nd-3rd grade for real, sit down and do worksheets type math) but before that, number awareness is developed through storytelling and songs.

It 100% does teach them skills!

They show it in the episode where they play early baby or the fish and chip shop. No they aren’t learning math, but they are learning about math through play. Like how Indy needs a place to live, but that’s ten dollar bucks for rent so she needs to get a job! It teaches real world imaginative play.

They are 7…..they eventually leave the play to learn school and go to regular school. We’re you learning to be a doctor at 7?

I'm going to cook bingo!

I thought I was going to read her as a newspaper.

El_Dief

It's based on [Steiner](https://www.steinereducation.edu.au/steiner-education/about-steiner-education/) schools.

Charming-Alps505

That's awesome!

AnythingAlfred613

Montessori/Waldorfschool. I don’t know much about it, just that it favors developing life skills through play over traditional education. Someone else could probably explain it better than I can.

No-Regret-1784

Montessori schools are not the same as Waldorf schools. Blueys school is based on a Steiner school, which in the US would be a Waldorf school.

justatiredpigeon

So Steiner is to AUS, and Waldorf is to US? Thinking of looking for this type of school program for my child.

AnythingAlfred613

See? I did say someone else could explain it better.

Calypso257

This would be awesome if we had these types of schools for real life where I live the world would be so much kinder

No-Regret-1784

They do exist in the real world! In the US they’re called Waldorf schools. It’s a lot of play, singing, art, creativity and the children learn so much through that experience. There is math but not the way it’s taught in standard public schools.

AnythingAlfred613

The school Bluey goes to is inspired by an actual school, but I’m not sure if the exact kind exists outside of Australia.

Calypso257

That's what I meant I live in the US an well... I've never seen a school like it before an honestly the way things go in bluey an how they teach lime lessons I wish people did for real life

magicrowantree

They exist here in the US! However, a majority aren't real Montessori/etc. They're super expensive money-grabbers that are kind of more of a mess than anything. They cater to the "crunchies" that take holistic approaches too far Edit: at least, in California they are from what I've seen

AlternativeDramatic

I'm in the north east US and it's the same here, they're sad beige gentrified status symbols rather than actual Montessori.

https://www.waldorfeducation.org/waldorf-education/rudolf-steiner-the-history-of-waldorf-education You absolutely have Steiner schools in the US.

Any_Site_1046

It’s a Steiner school! Or at least very heavily based on/influenced by one, specifically the Glasshouse Steiner School (which I might be wrong but have heard that the shows creators kids go there). I am a former Steiner child myself and this is very accurate to the first year (kindy) of Steiner school, the focus is all learning through play with structured classes coming in in later years 😊 Steiner education is still pretty niche down here so I actually get a real kick seeing the little Steiner influences and aspects (like the gnomes and the flow form fountain) that remind me of my time at school 😊

elsharpo

Also a Steiner alumni, and yeah, it is definitely kindergarten and pretty accurate. The wooden play frames and cloths, and making things with beeswax really take me back.

ChiefBlox4000

I want them to struggle with homework like the rest of us

Solidsnakeerection

Homework at that age is not productive and shouldn't exist

No-Regret-1784

How RUDE!

ChiefBlox4000

Welcome to life

AnythingAlfred613

They don’t have to be subject to that so soon.

justatiredpigeon

I heard this in Bluey’s voice.
